The chaos outside continued and you pressed your ear to the door to listen and get a better reading of the situation but you couldn’t make heads or tails of whatever was going on outside.
You couldn’t hear any tell-tale explosions, but that still didn’t mean that the aching in your heart was wrong.
You could feel him there.
Shuffling backwards, you pressed your back up against the furtherest wall to the door and took a deep breath in.
“Katsuki!” you hollered at the top of your lungs.
He was so in tune with your voice you just knew that he would hear you if he were there.
Trembling with adrenaline, you screamed out his name again, praying he would blow the door off its hinges and grab you into his arms.
You wanted him.
You wanted Katsana.
Your body was starting to go into a panic state and you thrashed in your binds, blindly trying to get them off.
“Katsuki!” you screamed again, the power of your quirk pulsating in the veins of your forearms, so much power was being thrown against the sturdy anti-quirk cuffs.
It was your final scream that broke the cuffs, the adrenaline in your body building to a point that couldn’t be contained by the worn cuffs and they popped open as a torrent of sand spewed out.
It actually took a few seconds for you to deactivate you were in such a high fight mode and once you had calmed enough to stop the sand, you jumped up and ran to the door again.
…………………….
Jin had done a good job duplicating Bakugou. He had made 4 clones and stationing them at the four corners of the building where you were being held and then, at last minute, all 4 called for the cowards inside to show themselves.
Seeing as guards were placed at different points inside the agency, different groups heard Bakugou’s duplicates call and so everyone split, running to where they heard the taunting calls.
Being unaware that Bakugou had teamed up with a member of the league none of them suspected that he had been duplicated, so once the guard teams were all occupied, the real Bakugou, in black clothing- something similar to Spider-Man’s suit- ninja’d his way into the building through a manhole on the roof.
The authorities knew Bakugou and they knew about his ego and dramatic entrances so were completely drawn in by the taunts and mocking of the clones- not suspecting Bakugou to go incognito to get you out.
It was while Bakugou was in the hall that he heard your scream and made a direct line to you, being wary that wherever you were being held might be guarded… but it wasn’t.
Unfortunately- cameras were lining the hallway though.
Sand had trickled out from under the door so your man knew where you were and as soon as he got to the door he pounded on it with his fist.
“Get back!” you heard him shout from beyond the door and you jumped back, just in time to avoid being caught in the explosion and sand storm that immediately followed.
Before the sand could settle he had grabbed you in a hug and your lips had met in a hungry and panicked kiss.
“Katsana!” you whimpered once you had broken from the kiss.
He grabbed your hand and pulled you with him out the door.
“We’re searching every goddamn room in this agency until we find her,” he growled.
“Wait!” you said, a sudden clarity coming to mind, “she’ll be on the top floor. There’s a room there that would be perfect for keeping a baby in. I know this building.”
Seeing as Bakugou didn’t have any other option, he trusted your instincts and lead, holding your hand and running in whichever direction you told him to.
Security on the cameras were frantically calling for back up when they saw this black suited villain break you out, and tailed you on the cameras to keep your location known.
“Request back up! Request back up! V/N has escaped with an unknown!” One security guard shouted into his small hand held.
“Uh…” came the unmistakable voice of Davo- who had been swept up with the first lot of guards, “yeah, uh, got a bit of a bingle over’ere, old mate’s got us runnin’ like a cat on a tin roof and—” his sentence was momentarily interrupted by a loud explosion before he continued, “yeah, uh, boss wants him caught.”
“We need back up in here!” The guard shouted.
“Yeah, Nah, no can do mate, gotta go,” Davo said as he clipped his walkie talkie back to his belt and continued to try and detain the clone Bakugou.
The guard, swearing profusely, dragging himself to his feet and ran out of the security room to take care of you and this random other, on his own.
Your mind raced as you directed Bakugou, running up two flights of stairs and arriving outside the door in question.
“Stand back!” you yelled to your man, yanking on his hand to take the lead as you aimed your sand quirk at the door hinges and pushed as much sand into the joint as possible to blow them loose.
As the door fell slightly, you jumped and kicked it in, landing on it as it fell into the room.
There was an older lady inside, holding a sleeping Katsana in her arms and you paused for a second, not knowing what to do.
“Don’t come any closer,” the older lady said, her face morphing into that of a witch as she released a deep eerie cackle that, you knew, could only belong to none other than The Witching hero: Cauldron- who ranked quite high on the ‘heroes that look like villains’ listing.
“Cauldron, give my baby back,” you said firmly but calmly, holding one arm up with your palm facing her, a ready stance, should you need to defend yourself.
“Giving this sweet child over to a villain.” Her words cut you deep.
“She is my flesh and blood,” you said, avoiding the other debate about villains, “you’ll give her back to me.”
At hearing your voice, little Katsana awoke and cried out, her needy cry awaking the mother bear in you.
Bakugou too, wanted to just jump in there and slam Cauldron’s head into the floor and snatch Katsana away but despite his seemingly haphazard ways he was deliberate and calculated and knew that this was a delicate situation.
While you and your man were being held at bay by your own cautiousness, Cauldron called forth her frogs, making them large ones with sticky tongues that likened you to flies.
“Katsuki!” You called for your man to take them on while you ducked around them and tried to keep Cauldron’s attention divided.
You knew she needed to focus on the frogs to control them, so making her keep one eye on you too was sure to give you an opening to steal Katsana back.
Your little one tried to wriggle out of Cauldron’s hands, which added an extra distraction and you made sure that you were in a position that, should she drop Katsana, you would be able to get over to her on your sand a quickly as possible to save her.
Cauldron kept moving, keeping a piece of furniture between you and her at all times as she moved backwards around the room until she was close to the back window.
“Can I take Katsana? Can I get to her without harm?” you wondered, sizing up your options.
From the dark behind her, on the outside of the window, you saw the shadow of a Bakugou approaching, hurling through the air.
“Huh?!” you gasped as the Bakugou outside raised his glowing palm up towards the glass and brace to release the explosion.
