After one last heated kiss you said goodbye and headed back inside. Your mind swirling with all the newly remembered information you had just received.
You slept well that night and awoke then next morning bright and energized. You bounded down the hall to the kitchen and greeted your family warmly.
Your two sisters, parents and grandma all looked at you strangely. It was almost as if you had been transported back to before the accident. They hadn’t realized how much you had changed after the incident but that kiss last night from Bakugou turned your world upside down. For the better!
“You’re awfully spritely today Y/N?” Your Mum commented.
“Mmhmm.” You hummed happily in response.
“Any particular reason?” Your dad asked with a curious smile on his face.
You stopped what you were doing and looked over at your family who were all waiting expectantly for your reply. You grinned from ear to ear.
“I found him.” You practically squealed.
Your grandma was the first to catch on and she jumped up (well… as best she could.) and hobbled over to your to give you a hug. “Ohh Y/N dear that is fantastic!!” She squeezed you tightly as tears of happiness pricked at the corner of her eyes.
“Found who?” Your dad asked, thoroughly confused.
“You know how the specialist said something about my body possibly swapping with my soulmate and I was acting weird for a bit there…”
Your dad nodded.
“Well I found him!” You said excitedly, bouncing up and down on your heels lightly.
His face fell. “Is this they same person who would swear at us and call your sisters ‘extras’?”
You paused momentarily. “Uh… yeah…”
“And he almost got you expelled at school because of his behavior in your body?”
You hung your head. “Umm, yeah.”
“Well honey, to be perfectly honest with you I’m disappointed that this person is supposed to be your soulmate because he sounds like a terrible person to me.” He said, anger and indignation evident in his voice. “I don’t care if you have found him, I want you to tell him to never see or speak to you again!”
“But dad he’s not that bad, I know what he used to be like but once you get to know hi-.”
“No. I don’t want to hear another word about this.” Your dad said. Turning away from you and pulling his newspaper up to signal the end of the conversation.
You looked at your mum. She gave you an apologetic look. “I’m sorry honey but I agree with your father. The person you were swapping with was positively awful.”
Tears welled up in your eyes and your stomach churned. You looked at your sisters.
“I didn’t like it when you were mean to me and called me an ‘extra.’ Mika said, pouting.
“Same here.” Zura said. “I don’t like this guy. You need to find a different, better soulmate.”
Tears rolled down your cheeks and you fled from the kitchen back to your room. Why did they all hate him? Why couldn’t they see what you saw? Sure he was abrupt and rude at times but he really did have a good heart underneath.
You flung your door open and flopped onto your bed, burying your face into your pillow and sobbing. You were crying so hard you didn’t hear your grandma enter and sit down beside you. Her thick but gentle hand on your back was the first indicator that someone else was present in your room and you jumped violently.
“G-Grandma!” You said, startled. “Sorry I didn’t hear you come in.” You sniffed, tears still streaming down your cheeks.
“Y/N my sweet, please don’t pay any attention to your parents or siblings. They only know this boy skin deep but you see deeper than that. It will take them some time to come around but I’m sure they will come to like this boy.” She said softly in her sweet elderly voice.
“What do I do now though grandma? They hate him! What do I tell him? Do I continue to see him behind their backs?”
Your grandma chuckled lightly. “You are only young once dear child, some things are worth being rebellious for.” She winked at you. “If you need me to cover for you for any reason just know that I will be happy to do so.”
You pulled yourself up and fell into her arms. “Thank you so much grandma I don’t know what I would do without you!” You sobbed.
She chuckled again and patted your head. “You’re a sweet girl and I trust your judgement of this guy. What is his name?”
“Bakugou Katsuki, grandma, and I would really love for you to meet him!” You said, feeling much better after the pep talk from grandma.
“We will have to arrange it sometime then.” She smiled. “Now no more tears! You go and have some breakfast and continue to see him. I will keep it a secret from your parents and siblings.”
You grinned from ear to ear and bounced off the bed.
Your grandma watched you go and sighed. “Ah Y/N. Don’t be like me. Don’t let go of your soulmate because people tell you you should.” She shook her head sadly, rising slowly from her seat.
She walked to the door and headed after you back down the hall. Images from her own life flashing in her mind. The body swaps with the boy her age. Never chasing it up.
“I wonder what he’s doing now? If he’s still alive? I’m too old to try and pursue him…”
She rubbed her back as she made her way down to the kitchen entrance. Everyone seemed to have forgotten about the intense conversation that happened only moments before and she smiled. “I’m grateful for this family. I truly am.”
She sat at the table and continued her breakfast. The image of a boy smiling at her remaining in her thoughts.
“I hope you are well.. Sorahiko…”
