After roll call you got up to leave when you heard Dabi address you.
“Come, pet.” He said in a deep quiet voice.
“Fuck you.” You hissed back at him, anger burning in your eyes as you stared him down.
“Do I need to remind you of our deal?” He said lowly as he stepped closer to you and leaned down.
You took a step back, your brows furrowed in determination to stand up to him but then flashbacks of Shouto’s broken project flashed in your mind and you conceded.
With head bowed in defeat you followed Dabi out of the classroom.
“Todoroki… May I see you a minute?” You heard the homeroom teacher call to your crush.
You looked back to see Shouto making his way back to the teacher.
“Eyes on me.” You heard Dabi command from ahead of you and you obeyed reluctantly, still silently seething at Dabi’s high and mighty position he was holding over you.
He walked out of the room and down the hall, leading you to the stairwell at the end of the building.
“Now.” He said as he turned around to face you once you two had stopped just around the corner. “Beg.”
“EXCUSE ME?!” You spat.
“You heard me,”he said again, “beg.”
You scowled deeply but pulled your hands up under your chin, folding them a little as if to imitate a dog begging but you maintained the dark look on your face and glaring at him defiantly.
“Good girl.” He praised.
“You’re sick and twisted.” You snarled, your heart suddenly beating wildly. “I’m going to apologize to Shouto and make everything right then you don’t have anything over me and I can get away from you.”
“You just keep telling yourself that.” Dabi said as he reached out and took your chin in his hand, jutting your face up towards him. “I can tell you like this.”
You blushed furiously and yanked your face away. “N-no I don’t.”
He chuckled deeply and patted your head.
“Cute.” He mused and you felt your heart skip a beat again.
Just then the bell rang for first period.
“Training completed.” He chirped, “let’s get to class.”
You dropped your arms in a huff and stormed off, not looking back at Dabi as you marched down the hall.
“Hi Dabi.” You heard a giggly voice call to him from behind you.
You glanced back in time to see him look across to the girl who had called out to him and he gave her a side glance and a small head nod.
It was enough to make her almost faint and you rolled your eyes.
“This two faced, creepy ass motherfucker, if only they knew what a perverted asshole he was!”
You saw Shouto up ahead and called out to him.
“Hey! Hey! What did the teacher want?” You asked as you ran up beside him.
“My project…” Shouto said lowly in an angered tone. “Someone smashed it…”
Your heart stopped then started beating wildly.
“Oh…. wow… umm… I-.”
“I have a week to resubmit.” Shouto interrupted darkly. “When I find out who smashed it there will be hell to pay.”
You bit your lip and slowed down, Shouto just carried on, blinkered by his rage at the person who dared smash his hard work.
You watched him as he stormed off then hung your head in shame.
“What have I done…” you sighed internally.
The rest of that day you warred with yourself as to whether or not you should say something to Shouto about his project but everytime you tried to bring it up his eyes would cloud over in a rage and he would internalize and shut himself off, mulling over why someone would want to ruin his hard work and who it could possibly be.
Dabi watched you from the sidelines, curious to see whether or not you would say something to the handsome stoic man.
“Is that her?” Tomura asked in a dead, almost uninterested tone.
“Yeah.” Dabi replied as the two of them sat on the school rooftop, looking down over the school grounds.
Tomura had noticed Dabi was particularly interested in one girl and had been watching her movements all lunchtime.
“What’s happening?” He asked again, lifting his hand to his face then running his fingers through his messy grey-ish blue hair, his beady red eyes locking onto you down below.
“She’s trying to work up the courage to apologize to that guy so she can break our deal off.” Dabi said with a smirk. “She can’t do it though.”
“Why her?” Tomura asked again.
“She’s not one of my fans. It’s more interesting this way.” Dabi replied, leaning back on his arms and looking up at the sky. “I tried this with a girl who was really keen on me but she was too compliant and I got bored. This one has a bit of bite… it’s so fucking hot.”
Tomura sighed. “Don’t force it on her.” He said bluntly.
“Oh I never force, she has full control of what she wants to do. All she has to do is apologize to her friend and she’s free. Simple.” Dabi said, “but I know she won’t have the guts to do that.”
“You’re a cruel man.” Tomura said with an evil chuckle and a shake of his head.
“That’s the pot calling the kettle black.” Dabi sniggered. “You know you’d do the same thing.”
“Mmmm.” Tomura hummed, hinting that maybe Dabi was correct.
Shouto was very quiet on the walk home and although you two chatted there was definitely tension present.
“I’ll uh, see you tomorrow.” You said softly as Shouto dropped you off outside your house.
“Sure.” He replied bluntly, still staring at the ground.
“Bye.” You whispered as you slunk up to your front door.
He just nodded and then walked on, not even bothering to make eye contact as you watched him leave over your shoulder.
“Why can’t I just tell him?” You sighed internally as you opened your front door and walked straight up to your room. “It would solve all my problems if I just owned up to it but would he believe me that it was an accident?”
You pulled your phone out and scrolled to his number.
“Maybe I can help him with making a new one then that will make me feel less guilty?”
“Hey, just me.” You texted him. “Could I help you with the new project?”
10 minutes later he replied.
“No, thank you though Y/N, I’ll do it on my own.” He sent back.
“Great.” You huffed sarcastically as you read his reply. “Now what.” You asked yourself.
You tossed your phone onto the bed follow straight after it, face planting into the pillows, praying this whole situation would just sort itself out and you could go back to just a normal life.
