Needing to get away from Dabi for a bit to think over what has just happened you excused yourself from Dabi’s house and headed home, your mind going 1000 miles per hour.
“What was that comment on the end about him now eating out of my hand?! I know he was making a joke about the fact that he actually did EAT out of my hand but did it have another meaning?? Has he fallen for me?”
As you continued to think your steps slowed and before you knew it you had stopped walking and you were just standing on the footpath, staring at the ground.
“Do…do I like Dabi?” You asked yourself seriously.
You knew the answer was yes. The more you thought about it, the more you were convinced you needed to tell him.
You turned slowly and started walking back towards his house, your heart starting to throb in your chest.
“I need to tell him.” You thought over and over again more urgently.
As your urgency increased so did your speed and before could register what you were doing you were sprinting back towards Dabi’s house, the adrenaline covering any residual ankle pain you may have felt.
You raced up to his door and knocked sharply, panting heavily as your hands hit your knees and you doubled over to try and catch your breath.
He answered the door.
“Dabi.” You gasped.
“What’s wrong?” He asked quickly, crouching down to your level and grasping your chin in his hand to raise your head so he could look at you. “Are you ok?”
His voice was different again. It sounds like he was… worried?
“Dabi I need to tell you something,” you panted.
“What is it?” He asked, still holding your gaze.
“I….. Dabi, I like you. I’ve fallen for you, as stupid as that sounds it’s true.” You huffed, trying desperately to calm your breathing but having just confessed had your heart racing again and you sounded just as out of breath as before.
As your own words hit your ears you blinked and averted your eyes with embarrassment but Dabi still held your chin so you couldn’t turn away completely.
You felt a stiffness shoot through Dabi and his eyes widened slightly, then he smirked.
“You don’t like me.” He replied in a mischievous yet matter of fact tone. “This is just a familiar feeling. What you are feeling is familiarity, not love.”
You looked back at him curiously, your breathing normalizing slowly.
“Familiarity?” You asked again as he let go of your chin and you both stood up.
He nodded as he crossed his arms across his chest.
“Oh.” You said, slightly sadly. “I guess you’re right? I never thought of it that way…”
“Head on home now, pet.” He said dismissively, “I’ll see you at school tomorrow.”
“Ok…” you said as you turned slowly and headed for home, your shoulders slumped as you trudged along.
Dabi watched you go from his doorway, his face fell as you disappeared out of sight and he sighed heavily as he hung his head.
“Fuck why did I say that?”
His heart was aching in his chest. He really did want to tell you how he really felt but for some reason he just couldn’t, and now he regretted it.
“Guess I’ve just lost my chance with her… romance is such a nuisance.”
“I have no idea what to think anymore…” You thought numbly as you walked, kicking stones as you made your way home.
It was now getting dark and you didn’t want to be out for too long at this hour so you picked up the pace, still absorbed in your own world.
As you neared your house you saw someone sitting on your front steps.
“Shouto?” You called when you recognized the shadowy figure.
“Y/N.” He called back as he stood up. “Forgive me for intruding like this but-.”
“No no it’s fine, are you ok? Why are you waiting out here?” You asked curiously.
He took your hands in his as you got closer and your heart fluttered as your E/C eyes met his heterochromic ones.
“Y/N, I like you.” He said bluntly.
“You? Wait WHAT?!” You gasped.
“I’ve been trying to tell you for a while now.” He admitted. “I’ve fallen for you.”
A bright red blush covered your face in the darkness and you just stood there, unable to believe your ears.
“Y-you like me???” You stuttered. “Is this a dream??”
“No Y/N, you are awake, you cannot dream when you are awake.” He said in an almost confused voice.
“What about daydreaming?” You asked cheekily.
He stepped closer to you and cupped your cheek in his hand. His beautiful eyes glinting in the early night light.
His lips parted slightly as he leaned down towards you and you immediately tilted your head up to him to receive the kiss you knew was coming.
Your hand raised up and touched the back of his as he continued to cup your cheek in his hand, your eyes fluttered closed as your lips met.
They were soft and warm and you melted into him. You pulled back slightly before kissing again, and this time your tongues met and his other arm snaked around behind you to pull your body against his.
You slid your hand from the back of his, down his arm and followed it up his shoulder before interlacing your fingers behind Shouto’s neck and continued to make out with him for a while longer.
You had dreamed of this moment for a long time, kissing Shouto. Everything was perfect… so why didn’t it hit right?
After ending your little make out session you awkwardly said good night and went inside to be alone with your thoughts.
You wandered up to your room, a heated discussion going on in your mind as to which boy you were more drawn to at that point.
“I guess maybe I still love Shouto more? and Dabi did kinda tell me that it wasn’t love… so maybe I’ll just stick with Shouto and ignore Dabi from now on.” You thought, nodding with satisfaction that you had come to the right conclusion.
You had a quick dinner then fell into bed, your mind still thinking about Shouto’s confession and kiss.
“I really should spend a little more time with him, I feel kinda bad that I’ve been thinking about Dabi a lot. If I spend more time with Sho then I’ll think about him more and it will push Dabi out of mind.”
You rolled over and grabbed your phone off the bedside table.
“Hey… you awake?” You texted Shouto.
“Yes Y/N.” He replied.
“Can I come over?” You texted back.
“Yes. I’ll be waiting.” He replied.
You jumped up and ran out of your room.
