“My name doesn’t matter.” The guy replied with an eerie smirk.
The two other guys that were with him sniggered and stepped forward, one grabbing your left arm and the other, grabbing your right.
“Wait what are you doing??” You asked warily, still confused.
“Just come with us.” The first guy said, wrapping his arm around your waist. “We’ll make sure you have a good time.” He said in an evilly low tone.
“Let go of me!” You said in an agitated tone, panic starting to set in.
“Hey hey now, don’t struggle.” One of the guys, who was holding your arm, hissed in your ear as his grip tightened.
“NO!” You shouted and struggled even harder.
The other two guys tried to silence you and pick you up to carry you into a nearby alleyway but you had come to your senses by now and you were ready for a fight.
Suddenly it was as if hell itself had released a creature from the eighth circle.
You went ape shit crazy, kicking, punching, screaming obscenities and biting anything that wasn’t your own appendage. You received a few hefty blows to the head and a kick or two to the ribs but the adrenaline was well and truly pumping and you felt nothing.
Managing to break free, you fled, blinkered by fear. Your only thought was to get home and you made a beeline in the direction of your house.
The three guys gave chase along the quiet street and you panicked when you thought that they might catch you before you got to your house.
“Fuck, fuck, fuck, what’s coming up… stairs, stairs, then the park… then umm..” your mind raced wildly as you tried to formulate a plan, trying to remember the sequence of landmarks that made up your daily route home.
As you tore along you could hear the guys behind you but dared not look back. You were considering ditching your school bag but it had all your belongings in it; including house keys, so throwing the bag NOW was a bad idea.
Suddenly the stairs loomed ahead.
“Ok, maybe if I take my bag off and chuck it down the stairs then throw myself off the top step and jump all the first flight??? Then jump the next flight???” You thought.
Which would have been a good plan… except that there were a lot more stairs than you remembered.
Taking your bag off you tossed it as far as you could as you reached the top step; jumping at the same time
Taking your bag off you tossed it as far as you could as you reached the top step; jumping at the same time.
Instinctively you threw your arms out to the side and rowed them mid air to try and stabilize as you sailed down the first flight of stairs. You landed heavily and took two running steps before throwing yourself down the next set but some of your speed had washed off by then and you watched with horror as you started to come down… 3 steps short of the flat.
“Ah shit I’ve committed jump die, Queen down, Queen down.”
You hit the step and your ankle buckled, collapsing you and rolling you down the last few steps and onto the flat.
You gasped and coughed, pulling yourself up on your hands and knees.
You looked back and saw with horror that the guys were still after you and had almost reached you.
You jumped up and tried to run but a searing pain in your leg caused you to crash to the ground again and you screamed out in fear and pain.
“Fuck you I’m not going down without a fight.” You snarled internally as you flipped over onto your back and sat up, balling your fists up, ready for round 2.
Suddenly a running figure passed you and king hit the first guy before throwing an upper cut into the guys chest that sent him flying backwards.
“Who are you?!” One of the other attackers yelled at the figure that had come to your rescue.
You looked up and focused.
“She belongs to me.” The figure said lowly as he stalked towards the two other guys with an eerie calmness.
“Dabi?!” You gasped.
“Shit it’s the boyfriend.” One guy yelled and your three attackers turned and fled.
Your heart was still pounding in your chest and before you knew it tears of relief were streaming down your face.
Dabi didn’t say anything as he walked over to you and you hid your face in your hands as you sobbed.
You felt strong arms scoop you up under your knees and behind your back as he picked you up bridal style.
You didn’t try and get down, you didn’t struggle, you just let him carry you. He walked over to your bag and crouched down to pick it up.
“I can walk…” you tried to say bravely though your sobs.
“No you can’t, I saw that fall.” Dabi said bluntly, “you’re mine, just let me look after you.”
You sniffed heavily and leaned your head against him.
“Ok…” you whispered as you knitted your hand into his top.
You remained silent for most of the walk home but then curiosity got the better of you.
“When did you notice I had gone?” You asked softly to Dabi as you stared into his shirt.
“When I saw you running out the school gates from the window.” He said in a dead tone. “Nothing like watching your pet escape…”
You snorted slightly with amusement.
“So I left as well… I was still a bit behind you but then I heard you screaming and saw you bolt out of the alleyway with the guys running after you. That’s when I gave chase.”
There was a bit of silence then Dabi spoke again.
“I decided to go the other way around the bridge instead of following you guys because I’m not stupid enough to throw myself down a set of stairs, and that’s when I saw your fall.” He said. “That was a hard hit…”
“Yeah.” You said with a sad nod. “I misjudged the amount of steps there were.”
“Is uh…your ankle ok?” He asked, trying to sound as disinterested as possible.
“It’s throbbing.” You replied.
“You need to get that seen to.” He said. “I’ll take you to the vet.”
“Very funny, asshole.” You replied with a playful shove to his chest. “No but… thank you….” you added softly. “You literally saved my ass.”
“Thursday. You’re going out with me.” He said stiffly back.
“Guess I do owe you.” You mumbled, trying to sound like it was chore to go out with him. “Ok fine. Thursday dinner.”
“That’s a good girl.” He said in a rich silky smooth voice.
