The fated sunday arrived and you walked up to the doors of the rehabilitation facility, the handbag from Brian firmly clutched in your hand, you felt like it would bring you confidence if you took it with you and already you felt more secure.
“I-I’m here to see my mum.” You whispered to the lady at the front desk.
“What’s your mum’s name, sweetheart.” She asked kindly.
“O-oh it’s umm [mothers name and maiden name].” You said softly.
“Ah! Mrs [last name].” The receptionist said, “sure sweetheart, she’s on level 2, room 16.”
“Ok, thank you.” You replied shyly, pausing as you looked around for the stairs or lift.
“Elevator is around the side here.” The receptionist said, pointing around the corner.
“Thank you,” you replied sheepishly as you ducked your head and quickly walked around the corner to the elevator, praying it would be empty…
Upon reaching the second level you hopped out of the elevator and found your mum’s room, reaching out and knocking softly on the door.
“Come in!” You heard her call from the other side.
You opened the door and poked your head through.
She beamed when she saw you.
“Y/N!” She called happily, “come in, come in!”
You hesitantly pushed the door open and stepped in.
It was then that you saw another lady in the room and froze.
“Y/N, this is Mrs Todoroki.” Your mum said as she introduced the gentle natured silver haired lady. “Rei this is my daughter.” Your Mum said proudly.
“H-hi.” You said shyly with a small wave.
“Todoroki? I remember Hawks mentioning that the restaurant we went to was owned by the Todoroki family … one of the sons worked there and… there was something else…”
You stood there wracking your brain, trying to remember what else Hawks had told you about someone in the Todoroki family.
Then you remembered.
“THE OLDER BROTHER! What was his name?!! Touya? He was in the training program with Hawks… so this is his mum…”
“Nice to meet you Y/N.” Mrs Todoroki said sweetly.
“Nice to meet you too.” You replied softly with a smile as you sat down in a chair next to your mum.
“Well Mrs L/N, I’ll let you catch up with your daughter, I’ll see you later.” She said as she stood to leave.
“Thank you Rei, I’ll see you for dinner.” Your mum said kindly as the other lady left.
“She seems nice…” you commented as you reached out and hugged your mum, “it’s really good to see you, how are you?”
“I’m really good Y/N, I’m getting the help I so desperately needed.” Your mum said gratefuly, “I didn’t realize how bad I was…”
You teared up, happy that your mum has finally had a break through and had admitted she needed help.
“I’m so happy mum I really am!” You said with a giant smile.
“How have you been Y/N?” Your mum asked, “are you well?”
“Umm I’m more than well.” You said with a small laugh as you presented the wedding ring on your finger to your mum.
“What’s?…. oh my stars!” She gasped, “to Hawks?! IS IT HAWKS?!”
You nodded with a big grin on your face.
“Oh honey!!” She squealed, “I’m so excited!!! When did you get married???”
“Well… not long ago, it is a real marriage but at the same time he’s done it for protective purposes…” you said, “he’s a good man mum. He’s really looking out for me and you too of course…”
“I know sweetheart I know.” Your Mum said as she eyed your hair. “You’ve had a change too I see!”
“Oh.” You said sheepishly, reaching your to touch your new hairdo, “Umm yeah… uncle Brian…”
“Oh say no more.” Your mum laughed, “he took you to Jasmine?”
“You know Jasmine?!” You gasped.
“Not personally no,” she replied with a laugh, “he just kept raving about her while I was with them.”
“Oh ok.” You replied.
“I like it, it really suits you.” Your mum said with a gentle smile. Then she leaned forwards and placed her hand on yours. “Sweetheart…” she said softly, “are you pregnant?”
“MUM!?” You gasped, going bright red, “I…no?? I don’t know?? I don’t think so?! How embarrassing why would you ask that?!”
“Sweetheart you’re glowing, you have that glow about you.” She said knowingly.
“That’s so embarrassing Mum!” You wailed softly, hiding your now bright red face in your hands.
“I would love a little grandchild.” Your mum said truthfully.
“Nooooo Mum!!” You wailed again, “stooooppp!! Ok I’m changing subjects now, why is Mrs Todoroki here??” You asked curiously. “Is it because of what happened to her oldest son?”
“Her oldest son?” Your mum asked curiously, “you mean the youngest?”
“Umm did he burn himself alive?” You asked, confused.
“No sweetheart, she poured boiling water on him.” Your mum said bluntly.
Your jaw dropped in horror.
“What?! That’s terrible?! Why did she do that?”
“Her husband was a horrible, abusive man and he drove her to breaking point, her youngest son had the same looks as her husband on one side of his face and she snapped when she saw him poke his little head around the doorway one afternoon. All she saw was the red hair that reminded her of her husband and she lashed out. She regrets it to this day.” Your mum said sadly.
“One side of his face?” You asked confused, “what does that mean?”
“Oh he has red hair on one side of his head and white on the other, he has Rei’s quirk, ice and her husband, endeavor’s quirk, Fire.”
“Oh I remember now, yes endeavor Todoroki was the father… nasty man it sounds like… just like my own father…”
“I see.” You replied.
“We’ve become good friends,” your mum said, “we’ve bonded over our horrible husbands and quirk marriages.” She said with a chuckle.
“Well at least it’s good for making friends.” You replied with a sympathetic chuckle.
Your mum smiled at you.
“I’m glad you’re well sweetheart.” She said as she leaned in and hugged you.
“I’m glad you’re well too Mum.” You replied happily.
You stayed for a few hours, talking about all kinds of thing, your mum seemed more at peace and you were grateful Hawks had bought her here.
Further away, Hawks was doing some visiting of his own.
He flew up to the building where they were holding your father and walked up to the guard.
“Yo.” He said with a smirk.
“Uh, no, sorry Hawks we have strict instructions not to let you in.” The guard said, holding a hand out to stop Hawks.
“Really?” Hawks asked as if he were confused, “who would give such an order?” He asked coyly as he deployed a red feather and slid it past the guard and under the door.
“The president of the public safety commission.” The guard replied, unaware that Hawks had sent a feather in under the door.
“Ahhh I see, well, can’t go against the boss now can we?” He said dryly, “see ya.” He said as he backed away with hands in pockets then turned and flew off, landing a short distance away and sitting down by a tree to listen.
He had seen the second in charge’s car in front of the building and knew there would be some information shared about their next moves.
He rested his head back against the tree trunk and listened as the red feather hid near the room that had a few people present.
Hawks identified your fathers voice, the voice of the second in charge (the man who was at the helm of this ‘catch Y/N, operation’) and a few others who must have been working for the second in charge.
“So you’re telling me you have no idea where she is?” The second in charge said gruffly to his subordinates.
“No boss, we’ve lost any trace of her, we’re suspicious Hawks has taken her but we haven’t been able to pin anything on him yet.”
