“Hawks.” The president greeted stiffly as she entered the office without knocking.
“Should have knocked Boss, what if I was in the middle of a lewd act.” Hawks said casually from over his shoulder as he stood at his kitchenette making himself a coffee.
This threw the president and she blushed with embarrassment at him saying something so brazen without warning.
“Y-You… that’s very unprofessional.” She said with offense as she walked stiffly over to his desk.
“So is entering a room unannounced.” Hawks shot back at her as he turned and stared her down through his visor.
She cleared her throat and regained her composure as she crossed her arms across her chest and glared at him.
“Whatcha want Prez.” He said bluntly as he took a sip of his coffee, leaning back against the small bench.
“I-I believe congratulations is in order.” The president said with absolutely no congratulatory airs in her voice.
“For?” He asked as he took another sip.
“Your marriage.” She replied in a dead tone.
Hawks eyed her for a bit before speaking.
“Thanks, is that all?” He asked as he took another sip of coffee and strode over to his desk to sit down.
“What’s her name?” The president asked pointedly, more of an interrogatory question than gentle curiosity.
“A/N Takami.” He replied, sitting his coffee down on the desk.
“What was her maiden name.” The president asked instantly.
“Is this an interrogation?” Hawks shot at her, his piercing golden eyes honing in on her as he flexed his wings threateningly.
“No? I just-.”
“You just what Pres? Want to do a background check on my wife to make sure she doesn’t fit the profile of an innocent citizen that you’re trying to catch?” Hawks asked as he leaned back in his chair and rested his arms on the arm rests- an obvious power move.
“Check my wife’s profile, but just know that you have no right to be digging into her background without any evidence to support your suspicions, you’re not above the law and I can bring you down if need be.” Hawks replied in a frank yet stern tone.
The president pursed her lips and glared are him while he maintained a threateningly cool stare.
“And I supposed you know nothing about the two agents who have gone missing?” She snapped.
“Again, pres, you’ve come in here with wild accusations, no evidence and a chip on your shoulder. You’re ticking all the boxes for a lawsuit for character deformation.” Hawks replied smugly.
The presidents spun on her heels and marched towards the door angrily, Hawks was not the person you wanted to go up against with these types of things he was too quick and cunning.
“This isn’t the end of me.” She replied curtly as she exited the office and disappeared into the hall.
Hawks scowled as she left.
“She’s bad news… I’ll need to watch my step for a bit.” He thought as he turned his attention to the paperwork in front of him.
It was later that afternoon, you were just heading back inside the house after hanging some laundry.
You looked at the clock and smiled to yourself.
“Only a half hour before my man comes home!” You thought happily.
You walked into the kitchen to get a glass of water and heard a car drive past outside, it sounded like it was going really suspiciously slow.
“Funny?” You thought as you put your glass down and walked to the front window, peeking out of the blinds.
There was a blue sedan doing a very slow drive by and you furrowed your brows in concern.
“That’s a very slow drive by.” You thought as you watched them pass the house then leave.
You walked back to the lounge and put the TV on, flopping down in the chair as you prepared to vegetate for the last half hour before Hawks got home.
You were zoning out when you saw a shadow from the corner of your eye go past one of the windows that faced the backyard.
Quickly grabbing for the remote, you switched off the tv and jumped up to investigate, sneaking over to the window in the study to peek out of the blinds.
As you looked out you caught sight of two men in plain clothing with their guns in hand, sneaking around the corner of the house.
Your heart leapt into your throat and you tiptoed back to the door of the room and watched as the shadows made their way to the back door.
You stayed inside the study and watched with baited breath as the shadows approached the back door.
Presently you heard one of them trying to open the door but thankfully you had locked it when you had come in earlier.
You panicked, backing back into the room and flicking you hands wildly in distress.
“Hawks, Hawks, I’ve gotta call Hawks!?”
Unable to reach your phone you looked around the room and saw a red feather on the desk. You grabbed it and put your lips to it.
“Hawks!” You whispered, almost under your breath, “people are trying to break in!”
“I don’t even know if he can hear me from so far away? Is this message even going to get to him?” You thought fearfully as you heard the people trying to open the door again.
Suddenly you heard 2 thumps and a groan.
You froze, still gripping onto the feather.
“What was that!?”
A few moments past and all was silent, you were desperately trying to calm your breathing when you heard the front door unlock.
“Baby?” You heard Hawks call out.
“Hawks!” You wailed as you shot out of the room and ran to him, jumping into his arms as tears of relief flooded down your face. “There were guys here, they had guns!” You cried.
“Shhh baby, it’s ok I’ve dealt with them.” Hawks said calmly, “I got your message.”
“You did?!” You said suddenly. “I didn’t know if you would hear me?!”
“I told you I would always come when you called, at my trademark top speed.” He said gently as he lifted your face to his and kissed you.
You kissed back and hugged him tight, truly grateful for your winged hero.
“I found 2 jobs!” You said excitedly to Hawks as you walked into the lounge room later that night.
“What are they chicken?” He asked as he waved you to come over and sit on his lap.
“One is working at the town library.” You said as you sat down in his lap and leaned sideways into his chest, “and the other one is at the local clothing store.”
“Which one are you going to choose?” Hawks asked as he pulled your face to his and kissed your cheek.
“Ummm… I don’t know.” You wailed softly, “I’m not good at making decisions.”[which would you prefer? Library job or clothing store? Whichever gets the most comments will become your new job 😀]
“You can think on it chicken, there’s no rush.” Hawks said kindly as he stroked your cheek. “Did you want to go and see your mum next weekend? She is settled now and they’re allowing family to visit.” He said.
“That would be lovely!” You replied happily, “are you going to come too?”
“I have someone else I need to visit that weekend, so you go to see her and I’ll go and see him and we can compare notes of our visits when you get back.” He said with his sexy smile, giving you a small kiss on the lips.
“Ok? Should I be worried” You replied suspiciously as you got up to leave.
“Nah.” He said with a chuckle, “trust me baby girl.”
“Ok.” You said as you bent down to give him one last kiss before wandering off back into the study.
“I’ll be doing some ground work to get my baby girl free of this mess.” Hawks thought as he watched you walk away, “it’s about time we dealt with corrupt government officials and abusive fathers.”
