“W-what’s that supposed to mean?” You questioned nervously.
Shouto smirked and reached for the pocky packet, pulling out another stick and putting it between his teeth like you had done.
“Come on, Y/N, take a bite.” He coaxed in a velvety smooth voice, leaning forward so you could take a bite.
“You’re too far away, Shouto, I can’t reach.” You replied innocently.
He took the bait and leaned in closer.
Just then you lunged at him and your lips just brushed his as you bit down on the pocky stick, quickly pulling away.
He was stunned.
“Y-you….??” He stuttered with his eyes wide in surprise.
You giggled. “Yes, Shouto?” You asked as you tilted your head to the side, chewing the last of the stick down.
“I want a real one now.” He said with a flicker of lust in his eye.
“A real one…what?”
“A kiss.” He replied, leaning in slowly.
Your heart started pounding as you leaned closer to him, time seemed to slow down as your lips got closer and closer to his.
Just then the doctor arrived with the results of your CT scan.
“Miss L/N, how are you feeling?” The pleasant lady doctor asked.
You and Shouto quickly looked away in opposite directions and he pulled back, clearing his throat as he walked around the other side of the hospital bed and leaned up against at the wall.
“Uh, ok? I guess?” You replied, not quite knowing how to answer the question. I mean. what was the doctor referring to? Your leg or the fact that you’re pretty sure you had a mild cardiac infarct from almost kissing Shouto
“You’ve done some serious damage to your knee and ankle.” She said, walking over to the end of the bed and picking up your chart.
“There is a torsion injury to your knee, grade 2 tear of the medial collateral ligament, frayed fibres of the anterior cruciate ligament and what looks to be a possible meniscus tear.”
You grimaced. “Sounds like I’m about to die?”
She laughed. “Not quite but you will need some work done on it… I won’t even get started on the ankle.
“Ma’am, we are students at UA. Our nurse, recovery girl, could heal Y/N, correct?” Shouto asked.
“Oh! You’re from the hero course?” The doctor asked, looking from Shouto to you.
You both nodded.
“Well yes I’m sure she could.” She said with a smile. “We would, however, like to put you in a leg brace for now miss L/N to prevent further injury.”
You nodded. “Wise move because I’m a clutz.”
The nurse continued. “And we’ll keep the pain medication up to you because without that you wouldn’t be so chirpy right now.”
“What do you mean? I’m doing fine!” You replied.
“That’s the Endone (painkiller) talking.” She said with a sigh. “Just rest for now and we’ll discuss your discharge and transfer; to your UA nurse, tomorrow.”
“Ok.” You replied with a smile as she turned and left the room.
You glanced over at Shouto who was still looking towards where the doctor had left.
“So…” you said with a sheepish laugh, “where were we?”
His eyes met yours and a flicker of mischief sparked in them as he pushed off the wall and walked to the bedside.
He leaned down onto the side, his eyes burning into yours as his face came closer, you closed your eyes as you felt his nose gently brush the side of yours as your heads tilted to connect the lips. A tingle went through you as you felt his lips brush yours but no kiss came.
“You are on painkillers, Y/N,” he said, his face still millimeters from yours, his hot breath on your lips. “I want to kiss you when you’re well and not in a slightly altered state. But it doesn’t mean I can’t get close.” He added on the end, the way he said that last bit sent a shiver down your spine.
Your eyelids fluttered open as he pulled back.
“I must get going home, Y/N.” He said as he went to step away.
You grabbed his arm. “Don’t go.” You pleaded softly, “I like you here with me.”
He smiled softly and turned back to you, reaching in to give you a hug as he gently kissed your cheek.
“I’ll be back first thing tomorrow morning, call me if you need anything.” He said as he turned to get his things.
“Thank you for being with me today.” You said as he walked towards the door.
“It was my pleasure, Y/N.” He said before politely nodding and leaving.
You sighed and leaned back on the bed, clutching your heart.
“Doki doki Todoroki is going to be the death of me!”
………………….
8pm that night you were flicking through [social media of choice- maybe a story on quirkyfanfics by MLB? XD] when you heard a commotion in the hallway.
“SIR! Please return to your bed, you should not be walking around!” An elderly nurse implored.
“Shut it! Old hag! I’m going to see my girlfriend!”
You cracked a smile. “Here he comes…”
“You have a girlfriend?! Lord have mercy on her.” You heard the same elderly nurse say.
A loud ‘tch’ followed then, “Y/N! WHERE ARE YOU?!”
“Bay 3! And stop telling people I’m your girlfriend!” You called out, trying to hide the growing grin on your face.
You heard someone stalking purposefully down the hallway and you put your phone down, waiting for your explosion to burst through the door.
“Wassup KatSICKY.” You chirped as Bakugou marched through the door.
“I’m not sick, dumbass, I’m perfectly fine.” He growled. “What happened to your leg? I’ll kill em'”
“Calm down, you rogue packet of dynamite, it was me, I fell off a cliff.”
“The fuck?”
“Yes.”
“Can’t fucking trust you alone, you idiot.” He sighed as he walked over and sat down on the end of the bed, making sure to keep the back of his gown facing way from you.
“Like you can talk, you walking septic disaster!! why didn’t you get help sooner?! You could have been in real trouble had I not come and found you in the morning!”
“So you came in?” He asked, eyeing you.
“Yeah, why?” You asked, dubiously.
“I don’t remember shit between going to bed on Saturday night and then waking up the next day in the nurses office.” He said angrily, “what happened in that time frame that I was out?”
