“Wait! Wait!!” Your little 5 year old voice called out to the boy running ahead of you.
“I’m sorry!” His voice called back to you as he turned around to face you. “I just need to talk to you away from everyone.”
“What do you need to talk to me about?” You asked curiously squinting at his face. The sun was hitting it at such an angle that you couldn’t make out his features. The only thing you could see was a beautiful, warm smile, that warmed you from the inside out.
“Well, I wanted to give you this.”
A [your favourite colour] plastic ring was presented to you.
“It’s pretty!” You gasped.
“Y/N….when we get older…will you marry me?”
……….
You woke up with a start.
“That dream…again!” You groaned and rubbed your eyes, pulling yourself up to a sitting position.
This dream was all too familiar to you, it was a flashback to your aunties wedding day. You were a flower girl and you had met a very handsome boy who had proposed to you on the day.
The only problem was, you couldn’t remember what he looked like, you couldn’t remember his name and most of all, you couldn’t find the damn ring that he had supposedly given to you on the day.
“Did this scenario even happen?! Or have I made it all up?” You thought as you stared down at your blankets.
“Y/N, if you don’t get down here now, you’re going to be late again for UA!” Your mum bellowed up the stairs.
“Shit!” You gasped as you scrambled to get out of bed, one foot getting tangled in the sheets and tripping you up as you tried to hop out.
“Language!” You heard you’re mum holler back. “And stop breaking my house!” She added as she heard you hit the deck.
“I’m ok!” You yelled back as you rolled around on the floor trying to de-tangle yourself.
You quickly put your school uniform on and raced downstairs.
“I’m here!” You called as you missed the last step on the stairs and face planted straight into the wall.
Your mum sighed. “You’re determined to obliterate this house aren’t you?”
“I’m honestly not trying, I’m just gifted in the art of tripping on invisible objects.” You replied with a giant goofy grin.
“Eat your breakfast, you egg, and get your ass to school!” Your mum said with a slight chuckle.
“Thanks mum.” You giggled as you kissed her on the cheek.
You loved your mum and she loved you, you were so close you could joke around like this and it was normal. [sorry if this is unrelatable in real life, just pretend, this is fanfic you.]
Your dad had already left for work. He was just as much a goofball as you and you two got on like a house on fire, often causing a headache for your mum, who secretly enjoyed your shenanigans.
You quickly made some toast and put your usual spread on it before grabbing your school bag and running for the door.
“Bye mmm uve oooo.” You yelled with the toast in your mouth as you raced out the door.
“Y/N, you look like you just got mauled by a bear, fix your uniform!” You heard your mum scream as you bolted out of the house.
You waved back at her to acknowledge you had heard her but decided you’d do it once you had finished eating and had almost made it to school.
You half ran and shoved toast down your throat as your mind wandered back to that dream.
“I still get such strong feelings when I think about him, I’m pretty sure I’m still in love with him? Or maybe it’s just that I’m in love with the thought of him? Or the thought that someone likes me??”
You were so preoccupied with this dream that you didn’t realize how quickly you were approaching a blind corner and ran smack into the back of someone, smearing the contents of your toast into the back of their shirt and neck and dropping the rest in the ground.
“Awww man, my toast!” You moaned pitifully.
“What the fuck?!” The person you had just run into, yelled, as he spun around.
Glaring, ruby red eyes threatened to disintegrate you on the spot as he towered over you.
“I-I’m sorry, I—.”
“Fucking, watch where you’re going, crumbs for brains!” He yelled, picking an appropriate insult, based off the fact that your face was covered in crumbs.
All of your apologies were swallowed in the wake of this boys overwhelmingly RUDE behavior and you decided to snap back instead.
“You deserve it for just standing in the middle of the path like and idiot!” You screamed back at him, your hands balling into fists.
“Haaaa???” He exploded. “Who the fuck do you think you are to look down on me like that, you pipsqueak?!”
“Pipsqueak?! Is that all you have, you angry blond toilet brush!”
The look on this guys face was terrifying, smoke poured from his palms as he detonated small crackling explosions.
“Oh shit! Quirks! Forgot about that for a second… Wonder what his is? Welp, doesn’t matter because looks like I’m about to die. Lord, rest my soul.”
“Why the fuck are you just standing there?” The guy asked as you just stared at his hands.
“What’s your quirk?” You asked curiously, completely sidetracked by the alluring explosions coming from his palms.
“Explosion.” He replied with a proud smirk. “I’m amazing and I’m going to be the number one hero.”
You made a loud fail buzzer noise which caused him to jump slightly.
“WRONG! I’m going to be number one.” You said as you smirked up at him and crossed your arms.
He exploded again.
“Don’t underestimate me!” He yelled in your face.
You were about to yell back at him when you saw his uniform. “Wait? You go to UA?”
“Yeah?” He said, confused by how you could just go from screaming to completely calm in a matter of milliseconds.
“I’m just starting there today! Hero course 1-A.” You replied proudly.
“…What?…” His face fell, ‘confused kitty look’ taking over.
“What? Is that the same class as you?” You asked.
He grunted a yes as a scowl crossed his face.
“Fucking fantastic, I’m stuck in the same class as this asshole.” You thought internally as you scowled back at him.
