Turns out, that in the fall, Iida had broken the rest of him arm at the fracture point and needed to have it splinted and cast by the doctor so when he turned up to the celebration later that night he was in a beautiful tailored suit with a cast and sling.
He arrived before you did, obviously, keen to see you when you entered.
“Has Y/N been announced yet?” Iida asked his brother, sidling up to him to whisper the question.
“Not yet, dear brother, you are still in time to see your girlfriend arrive,” Tensei teased in a whisper, a deviously cheeky smirk pulling at his lips.
“You make such candid remarks,” Iida spluttered, his cheeks- rosy-red with embarrassment.
Tensei chuckled and grabbed a flute of expensive champagne as one of the waiters casually strolled through the throngs of people who had gathered for the celebration.
……………………….
“Miss L/N, are you quite ready for your reveal?” a stout butler asked with airs as he pompously entered the waiting chamber.
You were sat down on a footstool with your feet up on the stool, knees up with one elbow resting on your leg and your cheek slumped into it, the beautiful dress that you had been forced to wear, all crinkled around your legs.
“Good heavens?!” the man cried when he saw how ‘un-ladylike’ you were sitting, “please, Miss, I implore—.”
“Did you say- reveal?” you asked in a dead voice, “don’t tell me it’s like some Cinderella ball shit where I have to walk down the stairs to thousands of waiting people and have my name announced.”
“Yes, that is precisely what a reveal is… but in much more dignified terms.” the butler replied, “now, Master Tensei Iida, will be attending your reveal to introduce you to the esteemed attendees.” the butler continued, “he asked that he may be the one to present you.”
“That bastard,” you replied with a cheeky smirk as you dropped one leg down, “he’s doing this on purpose.”
“I beg your pardon, madam?!” the butler scoffed- offended on behalf of Tensei.
“Nah, he’s cool, but he’s definitely doing this to make his brother jealous…”
Just then Tensei arrived in the doorway and burst out laughing when he saw how you were sitting on the footstool.
“You, uh, know there’s a perfectly comfortable chair behind you, yeah?” he asked as he continued to chuckle to himself.
You glanced back at the chair and shrugged.
“Yeah? what of it?” you deadpanned, “this is more comfy.”
“I’ll be honest. At first I wondered what the heck Iida was thinking when he bought you home but now I can see your charm,” Tensei said with a smirk as he walked over and extended a hand to you, “come on, queen, you have a ball to attend.”
“This is whack as fuck,” you whispered to yourself as you begrudgingly took Tensei’s hand and let him lead you to the door.
“Ok, so, there will be some fanfare music then all will go quiet and someone will announce your name. Then that’s when we start walking down the stairs.” Tensei whispered to you as you both walked side by side down the hall.
“Do I have to smile?” you grunted with a scowl on your face.
“No, you’re welcome to look like you just killed a man,” Tensei replied in a whisper, “because I know that with one look you’ll have killed Iida.”
“Can you stop?” you hissed with embarrassment, “you’re the devil.”
Tensei chuckled again and linked your arm in his as he neared the top of the stairs, nodding to someone across on the opposite side to where he and you were stopped.
Suddenly, loud music from the live band played and everyone stopped to see why the sudden tune had started up.
After a short song, the band stopped, and all fell silent as you and Tensei stood motionless at the top of the long, gradually widening stairs.
“Presenting!” one of the announcers called, “madam, Y/N L/N, honoured guest of the Iida residence.”
“Oh for fucks sake,” you deadpanned internally.
Polite applause rose from the onlookers and Tensei took the first step down the stairs, practically dragging you down with him.
You plastered the most fake smile you could muster on your face as your eyes scanned the sea of unknown faces in the room, slowly descending the stairs beside Tensei.
In that moment you had forgotten all about Iida and you just wanted to die on the spot but unfortunately death would have to wait.
“Well done, madam Y/N L/N of the Iida residence,” Tensei quipped slyly as he walked you over to someone in a suit.
“You’re such an asshole,” you hissed with an equally sly look on your face.
Feeling the presence from the person in suit before you, you stopped and looked at them while Tensei unhooked his arm from yours and held your arm out to the person.
It only took you a second for you to realize who it was and your mouth fell open as you looked up into the eyes of a very well dressed Iida.
“W-Woah,” you said with surprise, “you scrub up alright!”
“Y-Y/N, you look superb,” Iida whispered bashfully, the blush on his face a dead give away as to how he was feeling inside.
“Stop using big words,” you berated playfully, “do we have to be here? Can we go somewhere else?”
Iida nodded and gently took your hand in his good hand and started for the back door, weaving between people as he took you away from the crowds.
Tensei watched with amusement as his little brother whisked you away.
“He really likes her,” he thought with a soft smile, “I hope they work out.”
…………………………..
“Wow, that was terrifying, let’s never go through that again,” you said jokingly to Iida once you had gotten a fair distance from the house and were heading underneath a covering of fairy lights.
The softly twinkling (Aoyama’s younger brother, lol jks) lights were strung up between trees and poles, making a canopy of soft yellow lights for you to walk under.
Iida hadn’t said anything yet and just quietly led you down to a clearing that had a beautifully lit water fountain in the middle of it.
“Hey? You ok?” you asked gently, noting a stiffness in the air, “you haven’t said anything since we got outside, what’s wrong?”
“Y/N,” Iida said in a strained voice as he stopped and turned to face you, “Y/N, I have a confession…”
Your heart started to race and you suddenly found it harder to breathe, his words locking your ribcage as his darkened eyes captured yours in the soft light from the fairy lights.
“Iida, please… I—.”
“I don’t need a reply…” he said softly, “I just want you to know how I feel…”
