“Y/N, please, you need not concern—.”
“Listen!” You snapped, halting in your path and spinning to face him. “I care about you, ok?!”
The shock on Iida’s face was obvious and sudden awkward tension filled the air as your words registered in your brain.
“Shit, I just said that out loud.” You groaned internally. “Umm, just, come on. And shut up.” You mumbled, whipping your head away to hide your embarrassed blush as you dragged him out into the foyer.
“The doctor is this way.” Iida said softly, trying to pull you in the direction of the doctor’s quarters (that you obviously had no idea where on earth they were.) as you aimlessly marched towards the servant’s sleeping area.
“Your house is too damn big.” You mumbled embarrassedly.
Iida smiled, watching as you turned and dragged him in the right direction this time.
“Left.” Iida said as you came to a fork in the path. “Then right.”
“What am I? A horse drawn cart?!” You huffed.
“Most certainly not.” Iida replied, mortified that you would compare yourself with such a basic mode of transport.
“It was a joke.” You deadpanned at him as you stopped in front of the doctor’s office.
“I do not have time for jokes when it comes to telling you how wonderful you are and how much I value you.” Iida said with soft sternness.
Your adrenaline spiked and you kept looking away.
“Yes?” A voice called as the doctor’s door swung open. “Ah! Young Tenya, what brings you here?”
“Please check his arm.” You said bluntly, “this idiot took a beer bottle to the arm, multiple times, to save me.”
“A valiant yet foolish move.” The shriveled old doctor said.
Iida hung his head.
“Must I repeat the words of Melissa Marr?” The doctor added with a twinkle in his eye.
“N-No, sir, please.” Iida stammered nervously.
“Very well.” The doctor commented, “do come in; the two of you.”
You tried to usher Iida in first but he refused until you had entered ahead of him.
“Melissa Marr.” You wondered as Iida took a seat on the doctor’s examination table. “Wonder who she is?”
You took a seat nearby and watched as the doctor took some x-ray scans from a mobile machine, then did an ultrasound.
“You have a fractured Ulnar.” The doctor said, “I would assume that it is from raising your arm overhead in self defense?”
“Yes sir.” Iida said softly.
“It is not a complete break but you also have a haematoma over the site as well.”
“Ruptured blood vessels?” You asked, “how bad is it?”
“I will arrange for treatment with the physiotherapist here.” Dr Hawamacha replied, “she is very good and will disperse the lesion quickly.”
“Ok.” You said softly, looking at Iida who refused to look at you.
“How is the pain, Tenya?” The doctor asked him.
“Minimal.” Iida lied.
“Your hand is shaking violently.” Dr Hawamacha stated bluntly, “here, take these and get to bed as soon as I’ve bandaged your arm. They are fast acting and I don’t want you to fall asleep on your way back.”
“And I’m not strong enough to carry your heavy ass.” You added with a smirk.
Iida took the pills from the doctor and threw them down, taking the glass of water that was offered to him and sipping it to clear them.
“I’ll just apply a holding cast for the fracture.” The doctor said, “it should heal within 6-8 weeks.”
Swiftly the old doctor pulled out all the equipment he needed and strapped up Iida’s arm, preventing any unnecessary movement that would otherwise do more damage.
“Now rest,” the doctor commanded, “and no more heroics.”
“Yes, sir.” Iida replied softly as he stood up and bowed.
“Ok, Kung fu, let’s go.” You said as you took his good arm and led him from the doctor’s office.
“I am quite alright to get to my own room.” Iida said as he was dragged from the office, “I have a very strong constitution and I doubt the drugs will affffffnct me toOoOo munch.”
“Yo?” You laughed as you looked back at him. “You good?”
“Mmmmmmm.” He hummed, staggering and swaying as he hung his head heavily.
“Shit.” You grunted, “what the fuck were those drugs? Bull tranquilizers?”
“Mmffmm.” He mumbled, his body careering off to the left.
“Hey, woah, hold on now.” You grunted, stepping back quickly and sliding your body under his shoulder to support him as you aimed for the stairs.
“Come on.” You whispered through gritted teeth, trying to get him to walk up the stairs but he couldn’t. “Damn.” You seethed, quickly looking around the dark foyer and locating a room nearby. “Ok, you useless lump, over here.” You grunted, straining to drag his every-increasing weight as his consciousness slipped from his grasp.
You managed to drag him into the spare room and over to the bed, plopping him and yourself down onto the covers before squeezing yourself out from under his arm.
“Seriously.” You huffed as you marched back to the door and closed it then waited for your eyes to adjust in the dark. “What do I do with you?”
You walked back over and heaved up under his side, trying to lie him flatter on the bed.
“Need to take your glasses off at least.” You muttered, gently pulling his glasses off his face and placing them on the bedside table.
You paused, unsure whether or not you should just leave him or stay.
“I should probably stay.” You thought as you walked around the other side of the bed and climbed up onto it. “Nothing is going to happen because he is passed out, not that I would want anything to happen anyway, pfft…”
You gingerly pulled the covers back and slid underneath, leaving him lying on top.
“I’m sleeping next to Iida.” You suddenly thought, scrunching down under the covers a little, in a flustered manner. “Oh! That’s right! I need to look up that saying by Melissa Marr.”
You pulled your phone from your pajama pocket and opened the Internet browser, typing her name in to see what would come up.
Your eyes widened when you saw the quote:
“Love makes you foolish. It makes you throw ever bit of logic away, do stupid things, do dangerous things.”
Your heart rate increased as you read it over again.
“Does Iida really love me?”
As you lay there Iida stirred beside you and rolled on his side to face you, his lips moving as he whispered something.
“Don’t go, Y/N, I don’t want to be alone without you…” He whispered, “I need you….”
You teared up, feeling like the words he had just said were the exact reflections of your feelings towards him.
“I’m not going anywhere.” You whispered back to him.
