Time with the King always went by so quickly and before you knew it it was night time once more.
“I will let you have a nights rest,” King Kageyama said to you as he saw you off at the door with Hinata standing by to escort you to your room.
“Thank you, King,” you said graciously, catching him giving you a knowing smirk- since you both knew what went on last night.
With one last glance, you were off, and once out of earshot of the King, Hinata asked his burning question.
“Y/N… is there a possibility that you may be with child?” he asked in a whisper, looking around to make sure his sordid question wasn’t heard by anyone else.
“I should think not,” you replied, trying not to chuckle at his very serious question.
“Did you not sleep with the King?” he asked curiously.
“I am a… woman… who keeps her secrets between her lips and under her tongue,” you replied, holding your head high and closing your eyes delicately.
“Oh, I beg your pardon for asking such a thing,” Hinata said quickly, embarrassed that he had dug into your private affairs.
But he was getting more and more curious about you, and once you were safely back in your room, he went to captain Daichi with his inquires.
“Captain?” he called, walking into the guards quarters.
“Hinata,” captain Daichi said with a welcoming smile as the shorter orangette entered the barracks, “What bring you here?”
“Captain, I am curious about Y/N. How would one go about finding out her past without asking her directly?” he asked curiously.
“What puzzles you?” he asked, siting down on the side of his bed, while Hinata sat opposite on another bed.
“A few things. But mostly I would like to know what her family’s status was, back in Nekoma… as that is the only thing I can think of that is holding the King back from marrying her. What other thing could it be that would be stopping him from making her his lawful Queen?”
Captain Daichi thought then shook his head.
“I am not sure, but if the King wishes not to marry her there is nothing I can do,” he said regretfully, standing and leaving the dejected orangette sitting on the bed alone.
Once he had left, Hinata sighed and got up to leave as well, but met Sergent Tanaka as the taller male walked in, looking for his captain.
“Oh! Hinata, what brings you here?” he asked happily upon seeing the shorter attendant in the room.
“I came here to ask for support, in regards to a mission. but I’m afraid I will not be able to see it to completion,” Hinata said regretfully.
“May I be of assistance?” Tanaka asked with a smile.
Hinata smiled in return and stood up.
“Would you assist my infiltration into the kingdom of Nekoma? I merely wish to obtain information regarding Y/N. Once I have completed that task I will leave.”
Sergeant Tanaka frowned slightly.
“This is unwise. If you get caught you will be done away with immediately. No questions asked,” he said, “and to do this without consent of the King…”
“What if I were to go disguised!” Hinata said, smacking his fist to his palm like he had just struck on an amazing idea.
“What disguise do you propose?” Sergeant Tanaka asked, “an elderly citizen? A disabled patron?”
“No! A woman!” Hinata said brightly, “I will wear a head covering to disguise my hair, as it is my mot standout feature.”
“I am dubious…” Tanaka said suspiciously, “I would need to see you with the head covering first, before making a decision.”
Hinata nodded with enthusiasm and turned to go.
“I will ask for one of Y/N’s head coverings and say I need it as template for new ones to be made!”
Tanaka nodded.
“Ok. Get the covering and then come back here so I can assess.”
So off Hinata ran, straight to your room to ask for a head covering.
You answered the excited knock as quickly as you could, having just finished bathing and were in the middle of putting a new garment on.
“Yes, Hinata?” you asked, pulling the door open to invite the bubbly assistant inside.
“Y/N, would I please be able to borrow one of your head coverings so that more can be made for you, using it as a template?” he asked.
“Of course,” you replied, getting one quickly for him.
He thanked you again and then left you to relax on the bed, smiling to yourself about your time with King Kageyama.
Off he trotted back to captain Daichi’s room and present Sergeant Tanaka the head covering.
“Here!” he said brightly, “this will do nicely.”
“Put it on,” Tanaka directed, helping Hinata donne the beautiful covering.
Once it was fitted, Tanaka stepped back to look Hinata over.
“Does it suffice?” Hinata asked.
“Yes, actually,” the crop haired sergeant said with amused surprise, “if you refrain from speaking too much, you should be able to slip in and out unnoticed.”
“Could you help me get close to the kingdom? Either by horseback or cart?” Hinata asked.
“Unfortunately, all of our modes of transport are marked with the Karasuno emblem and would be spotted easily by the sentries. It would be best if I took you to the first rise by horseback and then you skirted around and approached from a different direction by foot,” Tanaka said knowingly.
Hinata nodded.
“I understand. Let us leave immediately,” he said, taking the covering off and pointing to one of Daichi’s camel skin bags nearby, “I will borrow his sachel, and return it.”
Tanaka nodded and reached for the captain’s bag then handing it to Hinata, who put the head covering inside, as well as a small skin bag of water and a small piece of bread- all supplied by Tanaka.
“Be careful,” sergeant Tanaka replied, “if you get done away with, it will be my head that rolls.”
“Give me 5 suns. If I do not return after then, you may assume that I have been killed and can alert the King.”
“Very well,” he said with a nod and a scrub through his short hair, “let’s go then.”
Off they went to the stalls to get one of the best Arabian horses in the Karasuno stables- one adept to doing long distances across the sand, and on they hopped, with Hinata behind Tanaka.
With both men comfortably now aboard, they slipped out of the side gate of the kingdom and trotted to the first dune, then, once out of sight of the kingdom, they picked up the pace and continued on at a comfortable gallop.
