After all, she had wished that she had had someone to protect her like that when she had turned 14 and run away from home to protect herself from her father.
How a man could be so cruel to his own daughter is a question she would never get an answer for, but in a weird way she thanked him for all of the life lessons she had learned… and now she could help you out of your own similar situation.
Deciding that it would be best to protect you, she finished up her cleaning then rang the local police station to have a chat.
…………………….
Blissfully unaware of everything else that was going on in the background, you fell asleep on Kenma’s lap with your cat curled up next to you, the picture of a happy home.
A few times Kenma stopped his game to look down at you and gently brush the side of your face.
“I don’t know how I ended up with Y/N but I’m really happy that she chose me to be with her on this life quest. I hope it’s forever…”
Content from giving you a small amount of affection, he would go back to playing his game, and then later that night he ended up snuggling with you in his bed, one arm wrapped over you protectively while Kenma the cat snuggled up across the end of the bed, keeping both your feet warm.
…………………….
You woke the next morning to Kenma sleeping beside you and you smiled sleepily and kissed the tip of his nose to wake him up.
“Good morning, Pie, this is Apple speaking,” you said in a ‘just woke up voice’, “would you like me to make us something to eat?”
“Yeah,” he whispered in a croaky voice, “I’ll come downstairs in just a minute.”
“Ok,” you said again as you pushed the covers back and stretched, yawning and pushing your arms up in the air at the same time that Kenma the cat did his own type of stretch, arching his back up as he pushed his little paws out on the end of the bed.
Once you and kitty had done your morning stretch, he followed you down to the kitchen while your boyfriend was still waking up in bed.
“Come on pitter paws,” you coaxed smiling down at your little furry companion as you rubbed your eyes to liven them up a little as you took the stairs down to the bottom level of the house.
The place was quiet and you smiled to yourself as you walked across the wooden flooring to the kitchen.
“Look at us… just a couple of misfits,” you said to Kenma as he trotted beside you, tail up and waving as he meowed softly into his throat, “it looks like anyone who needs a home ends up at Kozu’s house.”
You chuckled to yourself as you reached for the pantry door to get things out for breakfast, as well as some cat food for Kenma.
The way he was acting it looked like he hasn’t been fed for a whole year- but you knew that wasn’t true because you had been home when Kenma had fed him last night.
“Ok, ok, calm down,” you giggled as Kenma tried to climb up your leg to get to the tin of food you were holding, “ouch! Claws, baby, you have claws and they are now in the side of my leg-AH! Ouch ouch, no. Down.”
You hopped, defended and ran so that Kenma couldn’t climb you like a scratching post, and in the end just ended up doing this weird game of cat and mouse where you walked rapidly in a large circle while trying to open the top of the cat food can in the hopes that you could quickly drop the contents of the tin into Kenma’s cat dish so that he could eat and forget about climbing you.
Your boyfriend just so happened to come down the stairs at the time you were furiously walking in a circle around the dining table and he just stopped and watched you from the safety of the bottom step of the stairs.
“Do you need help?” he asked after he had watched your shenanigans for a while.
“Uh… nope. I’ve got it,” you said, managing your rip the lid off the can and holding the tin up, “see! Yay! I win.”
You stopped to celebrate and Kenma ran straight into the back of your leg, making you jump with surprise.
“Oh! I forgot about you. Uh… food… food… OH! It’s in my hand. Ha! Fancy that… ok bowl… we need a bowl…”
Kenma, your boyfriend, sighed and walked over to the kitchen bench to hand you the bowl and you grinned brightly at him.
“Thank you! I got a bit lost there for a second,” you said with a sheepish chuckle, then turned your attention back to the cat who was starting to get a little impatient by now.
Once the poor kitty had some food, you turned your attention back to getting breakfast for you and Kenma but he had already taken over and was making stuff for you both.
“Thanks,” you said softly, “sorry I get distracted so quickly.”
“It’s fine,” he said calmly, watching what his hands were doing, “I don’t mind doing this kinda stuff.”
“Oh… ok then,” you said with another sheepish smile, standing there not knowing what to do.
“Umm… can you please pass me that knife?” he asked, pointing to the knife nearby.
“Oh! Here…” you said, handing it to him.
“I’m umm… gonna miss you when you go and stay at Lolita’s,” he said softly.
“Awww, same, but I’m going to be over here more often than when I’m there so not much will change I promise.”
“I mean when we snuggle,” he said softly and your heart fell to pieces in your chest.
“Kozu! You really can be sweet when you want to,” you said with big watery eyes.
“I’m just saying what’s on my mind. I don’t usually say mushy stuff for the sake of saying it,” he replied.
“I know. That’s why it’s so nice when you do say mushy stuff because I know it’s coming from your heart.”
He nodded. “I’m looking forward to prom too… which is odd. Because I don’t look forward to many things.”
“I know,” you giggled, “if prom was another gaming convention, then you’d be first in line to go.”
“Did you get the dinosaur outfit for prom?” he asked, still making breakfast with his head down.
“No,” you sighed, “I still wanted to but Lolita ended up buying my outfit for me so it’s not a dinosaur suit.”
“Oh… ok… I guess I have to go and buy my own outfit then.”
You chatted a little more about prom and what colour he should match with, then you both sat down to eat breakfast, then got ready and headed to school together.
