Ægir carried you and Migata to the next point and then you dropped him off and he gave you a floating potion to use, then you alternated trotting and cantering back to pick up Butterfli3 and O/N, then got them up onto Ægir’s back and used the potion as you held onto Ægir’s mane and floated along beside him.
It was still daylight when you finally made it to the smaller town higher up in the mountains and you dropped Migata off at the small inn there then went back to get Butterfli3 and O/N.
A lot of the people in that town were travelers or passerby’s, just stopping over for the day or night before heading on to the next destination, and unsurprisingly there were more unsavory players there who saw you on your water stallion and wondered how much they could get for you if they took you for themselves and rented you out.
“Was she slave contracted to that mage?” the one devious player in a bright red coat, asked his companion.
“I didn’t see an emblem but it looked like she was doing his bidding. I mean, she dropped him off and then left again. Maybe she’s gone back to get his supplies?”
“He could be using her to transport items?” the first mused, trying to see Migata from the dusty window of the small eatery nearby.
“Well that’s one job I would use her for…,” the other commented with a sneer.
His comment didn’t go unnoticed by his red coated friend and he snickered. “Yeah. She’s pretty cute too… if she can ride horses… she can ride dick.”
The pair leered at each other, chuckling at their own little jokes.
………………………………….
“I’ve dropped Migata off at the inn,” you said brightly to Butterfli3 and O/N as you approached them on the track.
“We’ve made good time today,” Butterfli3 said, looking at the in game time, “I thought it would take us much longer to get to this point but I didn’t expect that we would have transport.”
“Always expect the unexpected,” O/N grinned, “thanks to Ægir, we’ve made great time. Thank you for sharing him with us,” she added, smiling at you as you helped her onto your stallion’s back.
“It’s no trouble, it’s the least I can do to thank you for not yelling at me for getting you all into trouble earlier…”
“Don’t apologize for that. It gave Butterfli3 the opportunity to confront the leader of that guild. Someone needed to put him in his place so it was a good think it happened.”
You smiled gratefully. “Thank you for being so understanding.”
“No problem,” O/N replied, now safely settled onto Ægir’s back behind Butterfli3.
As expected, you used another float potion to stay weightless beside Ægir so that you could direct him along the way and it wasn’t long before you all arrived in town.
The two men who had been watching you before, had gone, so they didn’t see you arrive with Butterfli3 and O/N but you were still in the back of their minds.
Once you were all settled into the inn, you decided to get some food to replenish your health, and chat about the mission.
“Do you think it would be a good idea to make me invisible again just in case Free is around, or do you think it’s safe?” you asked Migata.
“Hmmmm, go with invisibility again just in case,” he said, casting the spell on you as you all planned to leave the inn together.
“Ok. It’s kinda nice to be invisible again too,” you said happily, leaving the inn beside him.
The sun had started to set and it cast the loveliest yellowish pink glow over the town, the sunlight still very clearly visible due to the height of the town.
“Any preferences for dinner?” O/N asked, “they don’t have a huge selection but there’s a few?”
“Cheapest will do,” Migata said, “let’s just go with the main bistro.”
“Ok,” she nodded, and led the way towards it.
Butterfli3 was the first to enter, with his hood on and hanging low over his face- as was his default look- and everyone inside looked up the minute he stepped in.
Whispers rustled through the patrons and a few recognized his name.
Then O/N and Migata entered, and then it clicked for most onlookers there.
“They’re on that mission,” you heard one whisper, “but where’s the really powerful girl with the water horse? I thought I heard that she was with them when they came onto the level.”
“No, she left and went ahead,” another said, “I heard that she goes and weakens the opponents ahead of time then the rest of the team come in and clean up after her.”
“Oh? I heard that’s she’s probably still with them but just invisible. She likes to remain invisible so that she can do surprise attacks. I don’t know why she thinks that will work any better? She defeated a bear just by pointing at it.”
You had to stifle a giggle at their conversation.
“These rumours are getting more and more ridiculous but maybe it’s good that they think I’m that strong. It will keep people away…”
Once the team had ordered and sat down, you had a chance to look around at those who were eating at the bistro.
Most people had gone back to eating by now, but were keeping just one eye on the team, more for curiosities sake, but there were two males near the back of the room who seemed to be scheming something.
One had a red coat on and you felt like somehow he could tell you were there.
You were a little wary of them so kept one eye on their movements as you ate the food. You tried to time your eating with Migata’s so that it wouldn’t seem weird that food was floating beside his face but it looked like the suspicious males had seen and knew for certain now that you were there.
When you and the team had finished eating and chatting, you all got up to leave and the two males got up as well and followed you out a little distance behind.
“Migata,” you whispered to your man, “there are two guys tailing us and I don’t know why… but I think it’s because of me… again.”
“She is right,” Butterfli3 added, “they’ve been watching us closely all dinner.”
“U/N, you’re getting really good at watching for potential trouble in your peripheral vision,” O/N praised.
