“I hit it!” You bubbled internally with excitement, “but what was that red line? Does that help me aim? If I aim better will I get more points?”
You stepped back from the damaged small tree and set your face with determination.
“Ok, here we go again.”
Turning side on, you readied yourself for another attack.
“Move!” you called, the two sparkling blue whips appearing magically in your hands the minute you called out and you gripped them firmly and felt your body start to move.
Having done the move a few times now, you knew what it felt like and moved with it, your eyes finding that red line and adjusting your trajectory with it so that it lined up with the plant perfectly.
As you raised your arms up, you pivoted a little then down your arms came, cracking the whip both in front and behind you.
When the whips had disappeared and the move had finished, you looked over at the tree and saw it had been completely decimated- much to your delight.
Excitedly you whooped and jumped up and down, solo celebrating your first successful attack.
“Did I get any points or anything for that?” you thought as you opened your stat screen to have a look.
Nothing.
“Really? No points for the tree? I might have to find a moving target then… what do they have as monsters or foes on this level?”
You glossed over your stats. Noticing that you had about 40 points accumulated and sitting in the [status points] section.
“Hmmm?” you thought, standing in the middle of the field with your chin in the crook of your curled fingers, staring at the opaque screen in front of you, “if I remember correctly, these points can be added to any of the stats that make up my class to enhance them.”
Your eyes wandered down the screen and you looked at what was there currently.
“Ok so this is my base model… ” you thought.
[STRENGTH] 2 [AGILITY] 7 [DEXTERITY] 5 [LUCK] 8 [VITALITY] 3You hovered your finger over the [+] button next to dexterity and then clicked it up to 15, adding 10 of your accrued stat points to it.
Next you clicked the [+] button beside agility and bought it up to 20, adding 10 of your accumulated stat points to it.
“Ok 17 points left…”
Clicking Strength, you tapped the [+] button until the number had gone from 2 to 10.
“9 points left…”
Luck was the next stat you chose and you allocated 2 points to it and adding the remaining 7 points to vitality.
“Ok. That should do it… ” You looked at the screen and smiled.
[STRENGTH] 2 + 8 [10] [AGILITY] 7+ 13 [20] [DEXTERITY] 5 + 10 [15] [LUCK] 8 +2 [10] [VITALITY] 3 +7 [10]“Good.” You nodded your head and closed the screen by swiping your hand down. “Now to fnd something to fight to test this new ‘me’ out.”
More confident in yourself now, you started heading further across the field to some trees at the other end, figuring that smaller creatures would be taking refuge in the tree line.
You hadn’t even gotten that much closer to the trees when you came across a rat- it’s red eyes boring into yours as it stood ready to attack you.
“Do I attack first?”
The rat took a step forward and opened its mouth so that’s when you decided to make your move.
“Move!” you called.
Suddenly the rat went into slow motion, it’s front paws coming off the ground as your whips appeared and the red line settled across his middle.
Setting your jaw, you allowed your body to follow the motion and before the rat even had a chance to launch at you, you had completed your attack and then everything went back to normal speed, showing just how fast you had hit the rat by speeding up just as your whips struck it and it exploded into shards of crystallized lights.
“Wow,” you whispered audibly, “that was a lot quicker than I thought it would be.”
A little sign popped up in front of you and you looked at it.
[RAT DEFEATED!]Exp: 3
Mahi: 3
“Only 3 experience points?!” The disappointment showed clearly on your face.
Looking around, you spied another rat hiding nearby so you decided to try something different to see if your theory about the red line was true.
“I wonder if 3 experience points is the maximum I can get from these rats?”
You walked towards the rat and it came at you, baring it’s long front teeth.
“Move!” you called, your skill activating and slowing down time so that you could line yourself up and execute your skill with accuracy yet to others around you you were moving very fast.
This time, instead of hitting the rat down the middle you only struck it on the side.
It still defeated the rat but this time it only gave you 1 experience point.
“Oh I see. This line is for accuracy and it gives you the most points you can get for defeating the opponent. Just as I suspected.”
Satisfied with your deductions, you went on to fight a few more rats just to get your eye in.
It didn’t take long until your next move appeared in your skill list and you smiled when you saw it pop up.
[HYPNOTIZE]“Ok let’s try this on the next rat,” you thought, walking on through the grass that was gradually getting longer.
The next rat appeared and you stiffened.
“Hypnotize!” you called.
Your feet moved lightly spinning you in a circle as you swiftly moved in an arc around the rat, a purple haze being emitted from around you that wafted over the rat and put it to sleep- ultimately defeating it by it being knocked unconscious.
“Ok, well I need to change the name of
this one too.” With a happy look on your face you opened your settings and changed the name of the move from ‘hypnotize’ to ‘spin’
“That will do nicely.”
Closing your settings you aimed to walk forwards but seeing a dirt path with a crooked wooden sign beside it made you pause momentarily.
“Level 2” the sign read with an arrow pointing up the path.
“Level one monsters are pretty easy. Maybe I’m ready for level 2?” you thought, starting the track that lead to the next level.
All was peaceful and quiet as you travelled the wooded path, the silence calming you down.
“I haven’t seen many other players today? I wonder if many people move from level 1 to 2?”
The trees surrounding you got denser and you slowed a little, feeling like something was coming up.
