Your eyes darted around, trying to see what it was that had made Migata stop dead in his tracks; then ahead, through a light flurry of snowflakes, you saw something shift amongst the trees.
Squinting, you focused on the beast ahead and your blood ran cold as your eyes adjusted in the darkness.
About 50m ahead was something akin to the abominable snowman, but more like a snowman that had fused with the devil himself; the literal product of nightmares.
In its right hand it held a fairly large jagged branch and laced across its chest fur were the marks of blood stained paw prints; that looked like it may have killed a bear.
The monster appeared to be looking directly at you and Migata and you bit onto your tongue firmly to prevent yourself from screaming, reminding yourself over and over that it was just a game.
Migata slowly took a step back, pushing you back with him as he looked around to determine what to do next.
You peaked out from behind Migata again and looked for the monsters name that was highlighted above it’s head.
“Tezamøng? it sounds Nordic.”
“What are you planning to do?” You whispered to Migata as you stayed behind him.
“I’m not sure if we should take this monster on now or leave it for another time but who knows when another time will come?” He whispered back, “plus it will be a really quick way to acquire EXP points.”
Tezamøng, who has been standing still, suddenly started walking purposefully forward and Migata quickly turned and ushered you back, pointing for you to deviate away from the path of the behemoth snow creature and into the tree covering.
As you got out of the monsters way he continued on, his target; Migata’s house.
“Oh no.” Migata said as he suddenly realized what Tezamøng was going to do, “he’s going to destroy the house because he thinks we might be in there.”
“No!” You whispered harshly, “no, no, no, we need to stop him!”
“We need to party up immediately!” Migata said quickly, “open your menu.”
After Migata had shown you how to open your menu and party with him he then quickly buffed himself up then turned to take on the monster who had almost reached the house by now.
“Stay here.” He commanded as he started running towards the still stalking monster, quickly catching up behind it.
Silently he did a hand signal, the words ‘consume flair’ flashing up above his head as a ball of fire manifested in his hand.
“All we need is a bit of fire POWER!” He yelled at the back of the monster before launching the fire ball at it.
Before the monster had a chance to turn around it was drenched in fire, it’s whole form being swallowed in the massive all consuming flame ball that Migata had created.
Tezamøng bellowed loudly, making the hair on the back of your neck stand on end as the fire slowly disappear and he swung to meet his attacker; Migata.
As the monster swung around, you saw the jagged branch that it had been holding in it’s right hand was on fire, narrowly missing the now visible Migata as he lashed out with it.
“Woah!” You heard Migata call as he ducked, the flaming tree branch narrowly missing him as he crouched low and kicked at the monsters left leg, landing a solid hit before retreating quickly and disappearing.
“Woah, wait, what? Where did he go?!” You thought as your eyes darted around through the darkness, looking for Migata.
Suddenly he was to the right of Tezamøng and he quickly drew a dagger and plunged it into the monster’s side, expertly placing between the snow terror’s ribs.
“Man he’s fast?! I couldn’t follow him with my eyes just then? Or maybe it’s the snow getting in the way?” You thought as you watched him jump back, avoiding another fire log swing from the enraged monster.
As you watched you remembered reading that to get more EXP points you need to join the fight as well.
“But I’ve never fought anything before?” You thought as you watched Migata dart around the monster, antagonizing it more than anything else. “I mean, I could kick it in the leg or something, then run? It can’t see me so it should be fine?”
Slowly you crept along the tree line, getting closer and closer to the hideous monster and regretting your decision with every step you took.
“It’s scarier up closer.” You thought as you tried to calm your racing heart. “Just kick it and run, that’s it, get in and get away.” You got to the last of the trees and waiting for your moment.
As Migata drew it’s attention away you quickly ran up behind it and toe bashed it in the heel, making it swing quickly around to see who had dared to punt it in the back of it’s foot.
Because you had now attacked your invisibility cloak suddenly disappeared, leaving you visible to the very pissed off Tezamøng.
You let out a scream that was terror mixed with triumph and spun around to run away but tripped on your leg as you turned.
“U/N!” Migata yelled as he jumped at the monster, trying to distract it so you could get away.
You picked yourself up and ran, only just being missed by that flaming log as it wizzed past and smashed into the side of Migata’s house, setting it on fire.
“Oh no!” You gasped as you looked back over your shoulder, “Migata!”
“GO!” He shouted, “run!”
You nodded before turning and running blindly into the darkness, not having any idea what Migata was about to do when suddenly an earthquake shook the ground beneath you; knocking you off your feet once again.
“MIGATA!” You screamed as you looked back over your shoulder.
Your terror filled eyes caught sight of Migata’s house as it crumpled to the ground and you gasped, both hands over your mouth as you sat in the snow, fear gripping you to the core.
Sharp huffs of mist exploded from your lips as you tried to catch your breath and think about the next step when you saw a shadowy figure approaching you.
“Migata?!” You called into the darkness.
“U/N! It’s ok!” The figure replied, the call of Migata’s voice making you breath out the sigh of relief you had been subconsciously holding. “We need to go!” He called as he approached you as a jog.
“Oh my goodness, are you ok?” You gasped as you stood up and walked towards him. “Your house! It’s gone! I’m so sorry, if I hadn’t come in and kicked him you wouldn’t have-.”
“Hey, it’s ok.” Migata said with a light chuckle as he pulled up in front of you, “I’m sorry to be the bearer of bad news but the outcome of the fight is very icy.”
“Icy?” You asked with a perplexed look on your face.
Just then the roar of Tezamøng filled the air.
“Yeah, uh, I couldn’t beat it.” Migata said with a sheepish back of the head scratch, “I used the strongest move I could do, just now, and it didn’t do as much damage as I was hoping for.”
