“IM GONNA GET YA!” Kaminari yelled from the room.
Immediately following the sneeze came the sound of someone running and you had to press your lips together to stop from laughing out loud as someone else screamed and Kaminari yelled out about seeing them.
“It’s chaos out there,” you chuckled softly to Bakugou pulling back from him then stepping back and peeking around the door frame.
“Oi,” he said lowly as he grabbed your arm to stop you from leaving.
“What?” you asked.
There was a long pause.
“Truth,” he said in a husky voice, “do you like someone?”
His question caught you off guard and you stalled for a bit.
“Umm, why?”
“Answer the question.”
“Why?”
“Answer the damn question.”
“Umm, yes but he’s not in our class and I haven’t asked him out because I’m scared he’ll say no,” you said softly.
“He’d be stupid to say no,” Bakugou said lowly and you tried to see his face clearly in the dark but it was no use.
He let go of your arm and pushed his hands into his pockets.
“Go,” he said, “tell them how you feel.”
You let out a nervous huff and looked out the door.
“Yeah… ok…”
“Do it, and if they say no then I’ll blast ’em,” he grunted.
“Please don’t, he doesn’t deserve to be blasted,” you said softly.
“MIDORIYA IS IN!” Kaminari yelled.
“Ok I’m off,” you said to Bakugou, running from the room, “I can’t believe I still don’t have the guts to ask him out… but I know how shy he is… he might evaporate if I ask him and he wants to say no but can’t…”
You sighed as you ran, almost colliding with someone as they came up the stairs.
“Oh shit!” you gasped with surprise.
“Y/N?” Tamaki’s timid voice asked.
Your nearly popped a lung you inhaled so sharply.
“Amajiki?” you gasped, “you came! Wait… we have to go!”
You grabbed his arm and turned him around, rushing him back down the stairs and into the waiting area at the front of the building.
“We’re in the middle of a power out and we’re playing hide and seek capture and I don’t want you to get confused.”
Suddenly Tamaki activated his quirk and grabbed you with one octopus arm, blocking behind you with a clam shall as something whacked into it.
“Oof,” you heard the person grunt.
With your hands pressed into Tamaki’s chest, you looked up into his face. The light in the waiting area of the dorms was a little brighter than the rest of the building and you could make out his face relatively clearly.
He looked serious.
“W-Who are you?” The voice of Midoriya called from the other side of the clam shell.
“Midoriya?” Tamaki asked, deactivating his quirk but keeping you close.
“Oh! Tamaki-senpai! I didn’t know you were going to be here!” Midoriya said with surprise, dusting himself off as he stood up.
“I… I came to s-see Y/N,” he said softly.
“Oh!” Midoriya said.
“I umm, I texted him,” you said, “sorry I didn’t say anything, I didn’t know when he was going to turn up.”
“So you two aren’t playing hide and seek anymore?” Midoriya asked.
“W-Woudl it be ok if I’m out just for a bit?” you asked, “sorry, Midoriya.”
“That’s fine, I’ll find someone else to tag.” He smiled and turned to go. “It’s good to see you again senpai, you’re going to graduate soon, yes?”
“Yes,” Tamaki said softly, “then I’ll be an intern.”
“That’s exciting. Good luck on your job,” Midoriya said, waving as he ran back off into the darkness.
Tamaki still had his arm around you and you looked up into his face again as he looked down at you.
All was quiet for a moment and then you cleared your throat and looked down.
“Umm… Amajiki… there’s something I need to tell you. I wasn’t going to say anything tonight but I don’t want to lose the opportunity to say it before you graduate.”
“What is it, Y/N?” he asked softly, letting you go.
“Umm…” you stepped around in front of him and stared at your feet, “please don’t feel pressured to say something just to make me feel better, ok? I want your honest answer.”
Tamaki nodded.
“Uh… ok… Umm… well… we’ve been friends for a year and a bit now… I met you just before I started high school here… and you were the reason I chose UA.”
“You deserve to be in the course,” he replied with a soft smile.
“Umm, well, that aside… I… I’ve really… fallen for you… I’m in love with you, Amajiki. Please don’t feel like you need to return my feelings if you don’t feel the same way. If you just want to stay friends then that’s ok. Just take my confession as a compliment and please… can we still be friends? I don’t want things to be awkward between us…”
You kept your head down and he stayed silent, which made things a little worse.
Feeling like your feelings weren’t returned, you turned to leave, starting to say something about being sorry for putting him on the spot like that- when he reached out and grabbed your arm.
You stopped and looked back at him but he had his head down, fringe covering his eyes.
“Amajiki?” you asked, “are you ok? I’m sorry… was I too forward?”
He shook his head and looked up at you slowly.
“I feel the same way… it feels like a dream… that you would like me back…”
“You… you like me too?” you asked.
He nodded and you turned back around to face him, walking slowly back into his arms and embracing him.
“Oh wow,” you whispered in a daze.
You hugged for a little feeling comfortable and awkward at the same time, elated and flustered all in one, like laughing and crying (both from relief) simultaneously.
“Umm, did you want to keep playing hide and seek with us? I’ll call out to let everyone know you’re here. I think Midoriya is still in.”
“KACCHAN IS I—,”
“COME BACK HERE! USELESS DEKU!”
“WAHHHH! I’M SORRY KACCHAN!” you heard Midoriya scream, closely followed by explosions.
“Umm… ok, I think Bakugou is in,” you chuckled, holding Tamaki’s hand in yours as you headed for the stairs.
As you started heading up, the lights all came on and you blinked rapidly to dispel the ache in your eyes from the sudden surge of brightness.
