If someone were to look up the dictionary definition of stubborn, your name would be there.
You were just naturally headstrong and if anyone mentioned that you should do something- and you didn’t want to do it- then you wouldn’t, even if it was going to help you in the long run.
“Y/N, you really should put sunscreen on,” Mina said as she ran up to you on the beach.
“Nah,” you replied back, “I don’t burn, I’ll be fine.”
“No, Mina is right, you totally should,” Jirou added in from a feather’s throw away from you.
“It’s not even that hot today? I’ll be fine,” you replied with a dismissive hand wave, “literally all of you are using the same brain cell today even Bakugou swore at me to put sunscreen on.”
The girls looked at each other then shrugged begrudgingly- they knew they couldn’t sway you but they had warned you now, so that was on you if you got sunburned.
The day at the beach with class 1-A went amazingly and you had SO much fun.
But the fun IMMEDIATELY stopped when you got back to the dorms and peeled your swimming gear off.
The sheer CONTRAST in colour between your covered hip bone, and your exposed leg made you gasp and your head shot up to look in the mirror.
To your absolute horror you were two VERY different colours and the stinging heat was starting to rise in your skin.
Turning and reaching a hand back for an exposed part of your back, you pressed it with your fingers and nearly gasped when you saw how long the pressed part of your skin remained pale for before letting the colour seep back in again.
“Oh hell. I am BURNT!” You gasped to yourself, “do I have any sunburn lotion?!”
Spinning back around and digging through your bottom draw, you found some in an older bottle and started applying it to the front of your body as best you could.
You had pretty much gotten the front sorted when you remembered about the back.
“How am I going to put the lotion on my back?” you wondered.
You paused for a second and ran through your options.
“Well…I can’t go to Mina or Jirou because they’ll just say ‘I told you so’ … and I can’t go to the guys because they’ll do the same…”
You sat down on the bed.
“Who is someone I barely speak to, who can help me?”
Then it came to you!
Shoji!
“I don’t talk to him much… and he has a million arms so that’s perfect!” You grinned to yourself and got up off the bed, “I’ll ask if he can apply it to my back.”
Happy with that, you got up and put some loose clothing on then tucked the lotion into your pocket and left your room- walking the hall to Shoji’s room.
You stopped when you got to his door then suddenly felt nervous.
“This is kinda weird, isn’t it? Asking him to touch me when I barely know him?”
You knocked anyway and waited for him to open the door.
He did, and you kinda just stood there awkwardly for a second.
“Umm, Hi, Shoji,” you half mumbled, “hey, so… umm… I was wondering if you could help me?”
“Sure,” he replied from the mouth on his limb that he bought up beside his mask covered face.
“Uhh…” you glanced around to make sure no one else was nearby and then spoke again, “so, I got sunburned today and I need someone to put lotion on my back but the girls and some of the guys told me to put sunscreen on earlier but I didn’t and… well… yeah…”
He just nodded and opened his door for you to enter, which you did gratefully.
“Hey thanks,” you said as you walked in.
His room was the absolute bare minimum and you didn’t know what to do at first.
As he walked up behind you, you turned to face him again and your heart started to beat a little faster.
Your eyes travelled from his covered face, to his thick shoulders then down his very muscular form and you swallowed hard.
“Has he always been this built?” you thought.
“Feel free to lie on my bed,” he offered, gesturing to his very neat bed.
You nodded and looked over at it, suddenly feeling very shy about him seeing your bare back.
Gently, you got onto it and lay down and he walked over and knelt beside you- the awkwardness from your end- very palpable.
“You will need to raise your shirt,” he said, waiting for you to do so.
“Oh. Yeah. Sorry,” you said, laying on your stomach and reaching over your shoulders for the middle of it and pulling it up by scrunching it in your fingers as you kept your front squished to the bed.
You felt him hesitate a little and you kept your face away, you didn’t want to know what kind of expression he had in his eye.
“That’s bad,” he commented, pulling the lotion from where it was peeking out of your pocket.
“Mmmm,” you hummed, hearing him open the lid of the bottle and squirt some of the cooling liquid into his palm.
As you lay there, you felt a cooled, slicked, hand of his touch your shoulder then slide down to your lower back and your face suddenly felt hot with embarrassment- but his hands were comforting and your hesitancy melted away.
“Is this ok?” he asked as he gently smeared the cooking gel all over your back.
“Yeah,” you replied with a relaxed sigh, “it feels kinda nice…”
“I’m glad,” he said softly and your heart slipped a beat.
“He’s so kind and nice…” you thought.
“Your legs look bad too,” he commented.
“Yeah. They are… but it’s ok. I can do them myself,” you said, “I don’t want to cause you any more trouble.”
“It’s fine. I can do it,” he said, pulling your shirt down once he had finished, then placing some of the gel onto your legs.
You jumped a little and giggled as he ran his hand up your leg and he apologized quickly.
“No, it’s fine. I’m just a little ticklish,” you chuckled, trying not to wriggle too much.
After he had finished, he closed the bottle and waited for you to sit up so he could give it back to you and you pulled yourself up to sitting and give him a shy smile.
“Thank you, Shoji,” you said bashfully.
“It was no trouble, Y/N,” he replied with his free mouth, nodding a little.
You stood up and swung your arms by your side a little as you looked down at the floor, wanting to ask him if you and he could hang out some time but then thought it might be a little weird so instead just did an awkward, point to the door, and started backing away.
“Thanks again,” you said with a smile, “I’ll leave you in peace now.”
He nodded and watched as you opened the door to go.
“Y/N,” he suddenly said, “would it be ok if we went out some time?”
You quickly looked back at him with surprise,
“Do you have a mind reading quirk?” you joked, “I was just thinking the same thing.”
“I’m relieved,” he said with a big grin on his extended limb.
“Yeah. Let’s go out together some time. I’d like to get to know you more.”
“My sentiments exactly,” he replied.
You smiled shyly again and nodded.
“Sweet. Ok well… talk later ok? Have a good night,” and with that you left to go back to your room, a little less sore body and a little bigger smile on your face that you had a new friend… or possibly someone more than a friend.
