Deku walked over to you while you were eating and tenderly touched your shoulder to let you know he was there and you smiled over your shoulder at him.
“I didn’t get the chance to congratulate you properly on your wedding day,” Kairi said when she saw you and Deku together, “it was such a busy day.”
“Yes, it was!” you replied, “it was nice to get away after it all, to be honest… Have you got most of your stuff done for your wedding?”
“Umm, kinda… Denki isn’t really the organized type,” she chuckled, looking over at her man who had his eyes on her still and winked when she looked at him.
You saw them share a moment and smiled to yourself.
“They’re so cute together. I’m glad he’s settled down.”
The afternoon continued on and Soshi and Jinny were taken away for their afternoon naps while Chisuki raged on until he passed out in his dad’s arms.
“I’ll go for a walk with him in the carrier,” Bakugou said to his wife, “is it in the bag?”
“Yeah,” she replied, still stuffing her face with food.
He walked over to the monster sized bag and fished around it in with one hand till he found the fabric carrier then pulled it out and Mrs Bakugou helped to tie it onto him.
“Enjoy your walk,” she said, patting him on the back as he headed for the door.
“Mmm,” he grunted, heading off with his little boy fast asleep on his chest.
You smiled as she walked back over towards you and sat down.
“That’s a huge bag,” you said with a chuckle to her, pointing to her nappy bag.
“Oh… yeah… I’ve got literally everything in there,” she replied.
“Oh gosh, I’ve run out of wipes and Soshi has just woken up with a soiled happy,” Gem said in a panicked whisper as she flustered her way over to you and Mrs Bakugou.
“In the bag, hun, do you prefer huggies or homebrand? I have both,” Mrs Bakugou said.
“I’ll take huggies, if that’s ok, Soshi has sensitive skin,” Gem replied, “and thank you so much! You’re a life saver!”
“Anytime, I literally have everything in that bag. Even snacks for me,” she said with a devious smirk.
“Wine?” you asked.
“Yeah, babe, bottom left pocket,” she replied without missing a beat and you let out a happy laugh, not expecting her to reply like that.
After everyone had eaten and chatted it came time for games.
“This game is to try the baby food and figure out what flavor it is,” Gem said- she was in charge of games.
“I’m out,” Kaminari said, standing up.
“No, you’re not,” Kairi said quickly, grabbing his sleeve and yanking him back down beside her, “you’re gonna try them and tell me what the flavor is.”
“Do I have to?” he moaned playfully, turning and ducking his face into the side of her neck and kissing her.
She crunched her neck up and giggled, pushing him away.
“Stop it,” she chuckled.
The small containers of food were passed around to everyone and then a sheet of paper and a pen so that the flavors could be written down.
You tried the first one and wrinkled your nose up at the taste.
“Ugh… what is this?” you whispered.
“Which ones that?” Mrs Bakugou asked, leaning over to look into your little cup.
You showed her.
“Ah! That’s zucchini, spinach and apple purĂ©e,” she said calmly, “Chi hates that one.”
“I can understand why,” you replied with a grimace, “I’m impressed that you recognized it just by the look though!”
“When you’ve had it spat in your face you get to know the look and smell of it pretty quick,” she laughed, “you’ll be all up in that soon.”
The games continued, then finished up, and you and Deku were called to the centre of the room, where you waited with nervous excitement as Gem passed you the gender reveal balloon.
“Ok,” she said with a smile, “pop it when you’re ready. If the confetti inside is pink – it’s a girl. And if it’s blue- it’s a boy.”
You placed a hand on your belly and looked at Deku as you both held the string of the balloon together.
“You pop it,” you said to him, passing him the needle.
“Are you sure?” he asked.
“Yes,” you said with a grin.
“Ok. On the count of 3,” he said with a smile, looking up and around the room at everyone who was waiting with cameras poised and big smiles on their faces.
“3…”
“2…”
“1!”
*BANG*
Pink confetti came jetting out of the freshly popped balloon, firing off a round of whooping and cries of delight from the onlookers.
“A girl!” Deku gasped, immediately breaking down in tears, “I’m so excited!”
“Oh wow,” you said with delight, hugging your crying husband, the two of your embracing while the others clapped happily.
Each person then stepped forwards to give their congratulations and Mrs Midoriya came in to embrace you both, happy tears streaming from her eyes.
“I’m so happy! I can’t wait to meet my little granddaughter when she arrives!” she wailed with delight.
It was shortly after then that you and Deku said your goodbyes to everyone. It had been 4 hours at the party and you were feeling very tired. You hadn’t done much, but you were tuckered out just from sitting.
Deku arranged for the gifts from the attendants to be kept at his mum’s house and he would pick them up at a later date, then you headed home, ready for a little nap before dinner.
It had been a lovely day and you and Deku snuggled up together to talk about your little girl.
“I still like the name Kiru,” you said to Deku, “it’s a very pretty name.”
“Same,” he replied, running his hand gently over your belly and feeling the little kicks and wiggles from your little girl inside.
“Not long now,” you said with a little smile, “only a few more weeks and we’ll get to meet her.”
Deku smiled lovingly and kissed your lips. “I can’t wait.”
………………………………
The last few weeks felt like they slowed down. You couldn’t wait to have your baby, and you checked your app every day to see what you could expect to feel that day or week ahead. Almost as if on cue, you started to get a bit of swelling in your lower legs and feet- just like the app said you might. And lower back pain was a real and terrifying thing as well.
“Is the cot due to arrive today?” you asked Deku as you waddled down the hallway, one hand on your lower back, one hand under your belly as you swayed your way down to the kitchen.
