It took her a moment to figure out why you had given her a ‘best grandma’, mug when she didn’t have any grandchildren- then it hit her.
“Are you?!?!” she gasped, jumping up and placing a hand to her mouth as she gaped in awe.
You nodded tearfully with a big grin on your face.
“I am… I’m 3 months along now,” you replied cheerfully, relieved that the reveal had all gone to plan.
She burst into happy tears and Deku was the first to get to her, hugging her with tears streaming down his own face. At that point you thought it best to give them time and you paused to let them have their moment.
It was such a precious bond they shared, and you took a mental picture to save in the memory bank while they cried happily together.
“Come here, Y/N,” Mrs Midoriya said, finally letting go of her son with one arm so she could open it to bring you into the embrace and there you all hugged for a little- reveling in the beautiful news.
You all talked for a little more about the future, names for baby, things you would need for the little one and future babysitting needs. Then, once you had all talked enough, you and Deku left to go home.
“I’m so glad that all went well!” you said with a happy sigh, holding his hand tightly in yours as you walked.
The next afternoon, you told your parents, and the day after that the news reporters found out you were expecting.
You and Deku had announced your pregnancy that morning and it had taken all of 3 seconds for the news to spread.
By 11am your office phone was ringing off the hook and you couldn’t leave the building without being mobbed.
“This is crazy!” you panted to Deku as you sought refuge in his office.
He looked up as you closed the door behind you and leaned up against it, spreading your hands out against the wood so that you could barricade it from people entering.
“How come people are going crazy out there??”
Deku smiled apologetically and stood up to come and give you a hug.
“I’m sorry, Y/N,” he apologized, “this is going to be the life of our little one…”
“It’s ok, it’s not your fault,” you replied, hugging him back. You looked up into his cute freckled face and he looked down in your eyes, a fondness shining in them.
He leaned down to give you a kiss as you leaned up, and you both shared a quiet moment together kissing in his office.
Unfortunately it wasn’t for long, as the receptionist came looking for you, to tell you that heroes daily wanted an interview with you and Deku.
“I tried calling your office because they said they couldn’t get through and when I couldn’t get through either I came looking for you,” she said with a sheepish chuckle, “maybe I should have left it a bit longer.”
“I was just trying to catch a break,” you replied a little sadly, “I’ve had call, after call, after call…”
“That’s gonna happen a lot,” the receptionist said sympathetically, “best get used to it.”
You knew she was just speaking the truth but it kinda annoyed you with the way she had said it and a small vein popped on your forehead.
She said one more thing before leaving and you pursed your lips at the closed door.
“Don’t worry about organizing the interview today, we can do it tomorrow,” Deku said softly, seeing the annoyed look on your face and thinking it was about heroes daily being so persistent.
“Mmm,” you huffed, “I think I’m going to go home. I need to be away from people for a while.”
“Even me?” he asked softly with a worried look on his face.
“No. Not you, just everyone else that have been annoying me today,” you replied with a grumpy look on your face.
“Oh… ok,” Deku said, not quite understand why you had suddenly become mad.
“I’m going to sneak out the back, ok? I’ll see you at home.” And with that you left to be away from others.
Amazingly, you got home without anyone seeing you or approaching you… maybe it was because you had wrapped a scarf up around your head and put the sunglasses on with airs that screamed ‘don’t even look in my direction’ and once at home, you dug through your drawer to put on some comfy pants.
While reefing through the bottom drawer you found your old Deku montage pants. They were the pants that you used to wear all the time when you and Deku started dating and you smiled when you remembered the first time he had seen you in them.
He was equal parts surprised, and flustered, that you would wear his merch but he had never told you to not wear them.
You grinned and got out of your work clothes and put the pants on but they were very tight over your backside and the front band dug into your stomach.
With horror, you looked over into the mirror and saw your side profile.
“Oh! Oh, I look terrible! I’ve put on so much weight since meeting Izuku! Oh no!”
You looked down and back up into the mirror again, your face changing with despair.
Just then you heard the front door open and froze.
“Baby?” Deku called out as he entered.
At hearing his voice you burst into tears.
“Baby?” he called again when he heard you sobbing from the bedroom. He was in in a flash, his arms gently wrapped around your half dressed form. “What’s wrong?”
“I’m fat!” you wailed.
“You’re pregnant!” he replied, “I love all of you, you’re most beautiful to me right now because you’re carrying our baby!”
You just sobbed into him, a little overwhelmed by everything that had happened that day including your hormones going crazy.
He held you and then you moved to the bed so that he could give you a cuddle.
It was while you were lying down that you told him all about the things that had set you off today and he was most sympathetic, agreeing with everything that had happened to you and telling you that he didn’t blame you for feeling overwhelmed.
“We don’t have to do the interview if you don’t want to,” he said softly, “I care about your mental health and right now you need to focus on yourself and the little one.”
“Thank you so much,” you sobbed, cuddling into him again, “I’m so lucky to have you.”
“No, I’m the lucky one,” he said softly, kissing the top of your head.
