You left the office around lunchtime and headed on your own down to the cafe. You weren’t really in the mood to sit there and eat alone so figured you’d grab something and head back to the sanctity and safety of your office.
“Man why am I letting these things get to me?” You thought as you walked. “I shouldn’t be getting upset over little things but I just don’t like that he’s being a bit secretive still AND NOTHING IS HAPPENING!”
You exhaled sharply, a scowl plastered on your face.
You were thinking about when the receptionist had asked about when he was gonna pop the question and had hoped that maybe he was gonna do it after the special dinner on the weekend but instead of getting a ring you got a sopping wet kitchen and a burnt dinner.
“Maybe he’s just not ready and I need to accept that.” You sighed as you pushed the cafe doors open.
There was a massively long line and you sighed again. “This is gonna cut into my lunch break.”
Begrudgingly you took you place in line and stared blankly at the back of the person in front of you.
“I…I just didn’t see it coming…” you heard a voice from one of the tables nearby say sadly. “I thought he was going to propose?”
Your ears pricked up.
Not really wanting to eavesdrop you looked away from the direction of the voice but she was talking so loud that you could hear every. Single. Word. CLEARLY.
“He…we went ring shopping… and he planned special dinners and..” the girl broke down crying. “And then one night he said he needed to talk to me about something and I thought he was going to propose then but he broke it off with me!” She wailed.
“Oh hun, I’m so sorry.” Her friend said sympathetically.
“We we’re together for 5 years!” The girl sobbed.
Your heart stopped and your head whipped around to look at the poor girl who had just been dumped. She looked shattered, her friend had hopped up from her seat and had walked around to comfort her sobbing friend.
“5 years? Izu and I……”
“I don’t know what went wrong!” The girl sobbed. “Everything has been perfect, we got along so well I don’t know why he ended it!?”
Your heart sank. “Is Izu going to break up with me?”
“Did he show any signs of change?” The friend asked the sobbing girl.
“No! None! Well…. he started hanging out with some of his old school friends but that’s about it?”
You felt sick to your stomach. “Kaminari.”
The sobbing girl continued. “And he changed the way he acted a bit? But he was still nice?”
Your mouth ran dry. Suddenly you weren’t hungry anymore and you turned and walked out of the line and out of the cafe doors.
“Is Izu really going to end it with me? My situation sounds exactly that same as what hers was…” You thought as you walked back to the office.
You had your head down. Deep in thought. You couldn’t imagine life without your beautiful soft hero.
………………….
“Uh, thank you for meeting me Kaminari… I hope I didn’t interrupt….” Deku’s voice trailed off.
“Nah, Nah, all good dude.” The sexy blond replied with a smirk as he removed his designer glasses and hung them on the front of his plain V neck tee shirt. “I’m seeing her again tonight so I can always pick up where I left off.” He added with a sly smile as he leaned back on the cafe chair with arms crossed across his chest.
Deku blushed and averted his eyes. “You’re so confident Kaminari, how can I have a bit more uh…”
“Swag?” Kaminari asked, finishing Deku’s sentence.
“Whatever that means?” Deku asked curiously, returning his gaze to the blond hero.
“Just your presence really, confidence, your aura.” Kaminari said, pulling out some big words to sound sophisticated.
“Yes! Those! That’s what I want to build on!” Deku said excitedly. “How do I present myself as smooth and cool?”
Kaminari laughed. “Ok well first, you gotta be eye catching yeah? Get some mad shades…like these!” He said, pointing to his designer sunnies.
“Then walk the walk y’know. Step it out like you own the streets. Power stance. Be confident. Instead of asking a girl out, tell her you’re taking her out.”
“I-I’m not sure I follow?” Deku said shyly, “can you give an example.
“Sure dude! So you walk up to a hottie, right? 9/10. Stunner. And you go ‘hey sexy, we’re hitting the town tonight yeah? You and me, dinner 8pm, I’ll pick you up at yours.”
“Oh woooww.” Deku said in awe. “And it works?!”
“60% of the time, it works…everytime.” Kaminari replied smuggly, blowing hot air in a huff from his open mouth onto his knuckles and rubbing it on his shirt.
Deku was about to comment that that statement of statistics didn’t make sense but thought it best to leave it.
“Uh so..should I try this for the proposal… ‘Y/N, we’re getting married…-.”
“No no no wait! Hold up.” Kaminari implored. “Nah dude not think that, try something like… ‘sexy, we’ve been together for-
“….5 years…” Deku added.
“5 years…and I think it’s time we took this relationship to the next level.” Kaminari said with a sexy smile as he leaned forwards on the table. “I want to make you Mrs Kaminari.”
Deku was floored. “That’s so awesome!” He said with amazement, “so cool! C-can I use that on Y/N?”
“Sure dude!” Kaminari replied with a very self satisfied look on his face as he sat back, looking very accomplished. “Make sure to tell people it was my line that got you your fiancĂ©.”
“I promise I will!” Deku said as he stood up. “I’m so excited! I-I’ll go and practice now and buy some glasses!”
“Good luck my man, plus ultra.” Kaminari said as he stood, fist bumping Deku before Deku turned and left hurriedly.
Kaminari watched him go. “He’ll be fine even if he stuffs it up.”
……………..
“Those really suit you, Deku!” The glasses shop assistant said as Deku tried on a pair of Marc Jacob’s Aviators.
“You think so?” Deku asked hesitantly.
“Of course! They really boost your look! You look more…confident.”
That’s all Deku needed to hear.
“I’ll take them!” He said emphatically.
