“Ah, ok, well let’s get you looking sharp so that you can knock her socks off, hey?” you said as you walked him into his room.
“I wanna knock more than her socks off,” pa replied cheekily.
“Oh my god. Pa! No, you can’t stay that, please. If you say that to her I’ll go and have dinner alone with Tit and won’t talk to you for the rest of the night,” you gasped, making a joke out of it but also keeping a little serious undertone.
“I’ll make sure to keep cockie caged,” he added with the same mischief he had just held before.
“Well at least he’s in a good mood and has his game face on for tonight,” you thought with a head shake and amused smile at him.
…………………………………
With pa now dressed and in his semi-right mind, you put on something nice too. You didn’t want to be too over the top but you didn’t think rocking up in your usual get up would be appropriate either so you at least put a little bit of effort in.
As soon as you were dressed, the doorbell rang and you ran from the room to get it.
“I got it, pa!” you called out as you thumped down the stairs.
Grabbing for the door knob, you opened it to Kuroo who had his arm up on the doorframe and was looking down at you with a smirk.
“Oh?” he crooned, “my Uber eats meal is here.”
“Stooop!” you wailed with embarrassment, grinning from ear to ear as you thumped your softly closer fists against his torso.
Kuroo chuckled and reached one arm down around your back to pull you into a hug before letting his other arm follow suit and he picked you up a little as he stepped across the threshold into the house.
“Ready to go?” he asked, looking up to see if he could spot pa as well.
“Ready when you are,” you replied, finally looking up at him.
He grinned and let you go so that he could walk past you and greet pa.
“Ready for your dinner date, pa?” he asked the older man.
“Ahh! Tit, you’re here,” pa warbled in greeting, trying to get up out of his chair.
Kuroo could see he was struggling and walked over to help him up, offering his arm to your grandfather.
“Good man,” pa grunted as he pulled himself up onto stiff legs, “ok. Ready, set, go. I’ll race you to the car.”
“Ready?” you asked, turning as pa got up beside you then passed you still holding onto Kuroo for balance.
“Sorry, Y/N, you’re the third wheel,” Kuroo said as he walked slowly ahead of you and out the door with pa.
“Ugh. Again?” you said playfully with an eyeroll as you closed and locked the door behind you then followed them down the path.
At that point you hadn’t really thought much about transport- how you, Kuroo and pa were going to get to and from the venue, but when you looked up saw an all too familiar taxi sitting at the end of the path.
“Is that Tony?” you asked Kuroo.
“The one and only!” Kuroo replied happily, opening the back door of the taxi for pa.
“My friend!” Tony’s bright voice greeted pa the minute the door had been opened.
“Tony, lad, how have you been?” Pa greeted in return.
“I have been waiting to see you again, dear friend,” Tony said with a bright smile, “I trust you are well.”
“Never been better,” pa grunted as he hopped into the taxi and Kuroo walked around the other side.
“You ride up front, Y/N, I’ll look after pa in the back,” Kuroo said.
You nodded and opened the passenger side door and smile at Tony as you sat down and closed the door.
“Bella,” Tony greeted gently, “you are looking most lovely on this evening.”
“Oh,” you chuckled bashfully, “just trying to not look like my usual homeless self.”
“In my country we say: ‘ La bellezza va e viene. La bonta si mantiene’ it is a meaning, ‘Beauty comes and goes, kindness is always there’.”
“Good saying,” Kuroo piped up from the back seat. “Lucky for me, my girl had both beauty and kindness.”
“Stoooop, please, I can’t deal with compliments.” you sank down in your seat and covered your face while Kuroo grinned from the back seat.
“She knows it’s true,” he added as Tony pulled away from the curb and headed off down the road to the RSL that had been chosen for dinner that night.
It was a pleasant drive there, and Kuroo again helped pa out of the back seat once you got to the venue.
“Thank you, Tony,” you said politely, getting out and letting Kuroo lean into your open door with some money in his hand for Tony.
“Take that away from me!” Tony said emphatically, “ti sto dicendo, I do not need it. Please, go and have a good dinner and I will be back to pick you up at the end of the night.”
“You’re a good man, Tony,” Kuroo said as he pulled his head back from the taxi and stood up.
“si, giovanotto,” Tony smiled, “go now. I will be back.”
Kuroo nodded and closed the passenger door then turned back to the two of you and you all headed for the door of the RSL.
“Is Mrs Happy here already?” you asked pa.
“I sure hope so,” he replied brightly, “otherwise I’ll be having dinner with the two of you.”
“I’m sure she’ll be here,” Kuroo said reassuringly to pa.
He nodded and you all entered in.
The minute you stepped through, you started looking for Mrs Happy and saw her sitting on the bench up against the wall across the foyer from where you had entered.
Although pa’s eye sight wasn’t that good he still spotted her and let out a weak sounding wolf whistle as you all walked over to her.
“Who whistles at an old lady?” she grunted with a small blush on her round cheeks.
“An old man!” he replied quickly and she looked away so that she could hide the smile on her face.
Not wanting to interrupt pa and her little flirting session you didn’t introduce Kuroo just then, figuring you had all night to make introductions so let Mrs Happy and pa walk on ahead towards the front desk.
“Booking for 4 under L/N,” pa said to the girl on the front desk and she looked down the list in front of her then nodded.
“Right this way please.”
