“Come with me,” he said, letting go of your chin to take your hand in his.
He lead you away from the crowds over to a tree to sit under so that you could chill for a bit.
The fairy lights, that dotted through the leaves overhead made the area a very picturesque scene indeed and you smiled up at the pretty lights as Kuroo sat down on the grass.
“Lie down,” Kuroo said invitingly as he lay down on his back and stretched out.
“Thanks,” you replied, sitting beside him then spinning on your ass so that you were on an angle to him and flopping backwards, your head smacking into his stomach.
“Oof!” He grunted as your head whacked into him, causing him to crunch his torso a little.
You let out a belly laugh and he cupped your head in his hands as he chuckled along with you.
“What the hell?” he choked out.
“Surprise, motherfucker,” you laughed.
“I was gonna try and be more serious but you ruined the moment,” Kuroo said with a soft chuckle, “I was gonna ask why you always put yourself down?”
“I told you, coping mechanism,” you shrugged, staring up at the leaves and fairy lights overhead.
“Hey,” he said lowly when you wouldn’t look at him, “look at me.”
Bashfully you rolled your head to look up into his hazel eyes.
“You’re perfect, ok?” he said with the warmest sound in his voice, those hypnotic eyes making your heart flutter.
You smiled a little.
“I’m not, but thanks,” you replied, using the line that he had used on you when you told him he was hot.
“That’s my line,” he smirked at you.
“Line? So you know you’re hot then, you were only faking the modesty.”
“Like I said before, they don’t call me the scheming captain for nothing,” he leered.
“Fake ass!” you gasped, “you’ve been deceiving me this whole time!”
You rolled over and dug your fingertips into his ribs causing him to flail a little to get away from your tickle.
“Stop!” he cackled, his unhinged hyena laugh making you smile.
“I don’t care if you’re a schemer,” you said, “you’re stuck with me now so I’d like to see you try and scheme your way out of it now.”
“I don’t want to get out of it… and I never will want to get out of it,” he said, doing a crunch and sitting you up beside him then pulling you into his lap.
You kissed, sitting side on across his legs, a warm embrace following.
“Did you want dinner?” he asked once he had pulled back from the kiss and held you in his arms.
“Nah. I’m too full,” you replied.
“What do you wanna do then?” he asked.
You looked out across the stalls then off down the road and saw an arcade in the distance.
“Let’s go to the arcade over there!” you said excitedly as you got up out of his lap, “bet I can beat you at every game in there.”
“Dont make bets that you know you’re gonna lose at, short stack,” he teased as he got up and grabbed you in a bear hug from behind.
You giggled and squealed as he half carried you off down the road towards the centre.
……………………..
“Basketball!” you said once you had entered and paid, pointing at the hoops at the back of the building.
“Can you even toss the ball up that high?” Kuroo teased you.
“Watch me,” you replied confidently, poking your tongue out at him before striding off towards the machine.
Kuroo walked behind you, an amused smirk pulling at his lips as he pushed him hands into his pockets and watched you grab a ball and press the start button.
“You gotta pay first,” he said with a cheeky look on his face as he leaned over and swiped his card, “this one’s on me.”
“I’ll show this smug ass hole, just watch,” you thought as the machine jumped to life and sang a random song before the count down started.
The minute the buzzer went off you started lobbing basket balls at the hoop, a vast majority going in.
“If I just rapid fire I’m bound to get some in, surely?” you thought as you threw as many as you could.
You did pretty well and Kuroo grinned at you once the timer had stopped.
“Pretty good, chibi, wonder if you’d be able to get more in if you were taller?”
“Bend over then,” you said, clicking your fingers to get him to crouch down so that you could climb onto his shoulders.
He dropped down and helped you onto his shoulders before swiping his card again.
“Suro! You need to pass the balls up to me!” you suddenly screeched, realizing that once you had thrown that first ball you needed others.
“Oh shit! I didn’t think this through!” Kuroo called from in between your thighs.
“Ball!” you screeched as you tossed the one in your hand.
“Shit!” Kuroo called, trying to bend a little to get the next ball from the catch below.
“Don’t dump me off!” you cackled, grabbing his spikey hair to stop from going straight over his head as he bent forward.
“Y/N! Lean back!”
“Wait! Wait!” you cackled, trying to lean back as he grabbed the ball then held it up for you.
“Throw it!” he yelled.
“I just did!” you called back, “I need another ball!”
“Fuck!”
The two of you were laughing messes for that round, only successfully getting 3 balls in- in that timeframe.
“Man, you suck at that game,” you chuckled as Kuroo lifted your off his shoulders.
“What do you mean?” he asked.
“Well that was your round wasn’t it? You only got 3 balls in,” you leered cheekily.
“Oh hey now, you can’t do me like tha—,”
“Looks like I won, hands down,” you said with a mischievous grin plastered on your face.
“Oho ho ho,” he sneered, “you’re gonna be cheeky like that, are you?”
He grabbed for you but missed as you jumped back and ran to the next game you wanted to play him on.
The night flew by as you and Kuroo played as many games in the arcade as possible, playfully teasing each other and laughing together.
Once you were done, you left to go back home.
“That was a really fun first date,” you said to Kuroo as you held his hand, walking back to the bus station.
“We can tick that off the list as a success then,” he said with a warm smile down at you, “but the list has only just started, I still have a lot more things to go through to make us real.”
