That afternoon you waltzed on out of the school grounds, floating on air as you flitted home alone.
“Is that Y/N ahead?” Kenma asked Kuroo who was walking beside him a good 400m behind you.
“Hmm?” Kuroo hummed in question, knowing full well what Kenma had asked but pretending he didn’t know what the shorter player had said.
“Up ahead.” Kenma said again, not bothering to look up again as he focused on his phone in hand.
“Huh?” Kuroo asked with faux dumbness, “oh, Y/N? Yeah, maybe?” He lied- he knew it was you up ahead, he had been looking at the back of you ever since you all had left school.
“Why don’t you go and talk to her?” Kenma asked, still not looking up.
“Why?” Kuroo asked bluntly.
“Because you haven’t spoken to her since the Aobajosai match and you want to.” He replied in a calm, blunt voice.
“No I don’t.” Kuroo replied quickly, “why would I want to talk to her?”
“We’ve been over this before, Kuro. You like her.” Kenma said bluntly as his bored eyes raised from his phone to give Kuroo a dead stare.
“Listen,” Kuroo replied tersely, “ever since the captain of the Aobajosai team showed an interest in her she’s ignored me. Why would I chase someone who is easily distracted by another guy. No thanks.” He said frankly.
“You know Trashikawa was only doing that to get to you.” Kenma reminded the tall, spikey haired captain in his calm voice, “he’s not really interested in Y/N, he just wanted to throw you off your game.”
“Ok, but what about her though?” Kuroo asked Kenma, “she’ll go for anyone who will show her some attention. Do I really want a girlfriend like that?”
“So you are thinking about her as your girlfriend.” Kenma mused calmly before looking back down at his phone.
“No?!” Kuroo retorted quickly, knowing damn well he just put his foot in it, “you need to stop playing match maker, it’ll make you go blind.”
“That’s a lie.”
“No it’s not.”
“Yes it is.”
“Not.”
“Is…”
………………………
You were in your own little world, dreaming about Oikawa and your date the next day wondering what he had in store for the two of you.
He hadn’t told you what you were doing yet, all he had done was give you a location and he said he would meet you there.
“He’s so romantic! I can’t wait to spend the day with him.” You thought as a big smile graced your face.
You skipped the rest of the way home and went through your wardrobe, trying on different outfits and dreaming about kissing him while you begged for time to go faster.
The next morning you were up early, unable to eat due to the butterflies in your stomach that were dancing with unbridled anxiety.
“I gotta eat something but I can’t! Maybe he has food planned for the day as well? I’m sure he would… he seems well planned.” You thought.
Time slowly ticked by and finally it was close enough to the time you would need to leave to meet him.
“Leaving now.” You texted to him, adding a bright smile emoji on the end.
“Can’t wait to see you, cutie.” He replied, adding the kiss face emoji on the end.
You smiled to yourself and made your way to the meet up point.
He had asked to meet you at a water fountain in town and you found it quickly and looked around.
“Must be early.” You thought when you didn’t see him there.
You sat down on the edge of the fountain and waited, watching the time and your phone for any messages from him.
5 minutes passed…
10 minutes passed…
And he still hadn’t shown up.
“Hey? Everything good?” You texted him, wondering where he was.
There was no reply.
“Hope he’s ok?” You thought as you looked at your phone once more.
Suddenly a shadow fell across you and you looked up…
Into the pretty face of Oikawa.
The smooth captain was holding a bunch of flowers and smiled as you looked up at him.
“I’m sorry to keep you, honey.” He said in a silky smooth voice.
“I— Oh! It’s fine.” You said as you quickly stood up.
“These are for you. I just couldn’t help but get them when I passed the shop,” Oikawa said as he held the flowers out to you, “you’re always on my mind.” He added in a dreamy voice.
“Oh wow.” You breathed as you took them from him. “You’re so sweet, Toru, I—.”
“Oh, and I got this also,” he added as he pulled a small box out of his pocket and opened it, revealing the most gorgeous bracelet you had ever seen.
“Oh my god!” You gasped, “Toru! You’re spoiling me!”
“You’re so special I just can’t help myself.” He said as he put the bracelet on your wrist then held his hand out to you, “shall we start our date?”
“Of course!” You said emphatically with a big smile as you placed your hand in his.
He smiled and squeezed your hand.
“Let’s go have the best day ever!” He said enthusiastically as he pointed ahead.
The first thing he did was take you to a nearby fair, getting you both some fair food then taking a photo in a photo booth.
He was so attentive to your needs and you had a great time, giggling like a little school girl at everything he said.
A few times some fans of his tried to butt into your day together but he very politely told them he was on a date with you and he wished to not be disturbed, which you thought was a beautiful gesture.
Oikawa was determined to to everything right and so far you seemed to be enjoying the date with him more than he expected, which he was stoked about.
“Making her mine is a sure thing at this point.” He thought smuggly as he took you to another attraction.
7 hours passed quickly and the date was coming to a close, much to your disappointment.
Oikawa walked you back to the water fountain that he had met you at, earlier that morning, and turned to you, still holding your hand.
“I’ve had an amazing day.” He said softly as he smiled down at you.
“Same.” You replied dreamily.
“If only we could do this more often.” He added, sighing a little as he looked away- pretending to be sad about something.
“But why can’t we?” You asked, confused.
“Well, your heart belongs to another.” He said with a more dramatic sigh this time, hanging his head with faux dejection.
“What?!” You asked with surprise, “who?”
“Kuroo Tetsuro.” He replied.
“What? No? My heart doesn’t belong to him?” You replied, still confused.
“Did you break up with him??” Oikawa asked hopefully as he looked up at you.
“What? No?? We were never dating in the first place?” You replied with a laugh.
“I’m sorry, what?” Oikawa said, a little bit of sass in his voice.
