SSG69 and Migata were already there in the empty room and you gave your bestie a sly look as you sidled up beside her after letting go of Butterfli3’s hand.
“Sooo0??? Any progress?” you whispered coyly.
“Told you. I ain’t makin’ a move till you let me know if I’ve got a chance,” she replied with an eyebrow raise as she pulled you away from the boys.
“Ok, but Butterfli3 did tell me yesterday that Migata talks about you often,” you said with a mischievous grin when you were pretty much out of earshot from the other two.
“He does?!” She hissed lowly, “Oh my god, do I have a chance?”
“I’d say yes, but that’s just me,” you replied with a shrug, “don’t come at me though if I’m wrong.”
She deadpanned. “Was that supposed to be helpful? Because it wasn’t.”
You laughed. “Don’t worryyyy, just let it be and things will just happen naturally.”
She snorted and rolled her eyes.
“Hey, I just remembered too, where’s my baby fox at? I haven’t seen him with you since the day you STOLE him from me.”
“Ummm, excuse me, sir, but he was mine to begin with?!” Sshe shot back with indignation, “and he’s right here,” she added, opening up her virtual storage and calling him forth.
A rather large fox materialized beside her and you gasped.
“My baby is all grown up!” you gushed as you reached out to pat him.
At first it looked like he was about to arch up at you, but then he must have remembered you and he settled quickly and butted his head into your open palm.
“Awww, and he remembers me too!” you wailed lovingly.
“He’s my big saver floof,” SSG69 said proudly, “since I’ve been leveling up, he has too, and he’s pretty badass at fighting! He protects me like crazy and not gonna lie, it’s actually cute to see just how riled up he gets if someone has a go at me.”
“But like…you can pack him away in storage now to0?” you asked, “I didn’t know you could pack pets away?”
“Oh, it’s a skill. You can unlock it when they get to a certain level. It’s very handy!”
“I bet,” you mused, patting the large handsome fox.
“Hey, you two!” Migata called, “let’s talk about strategies before the other two get here.”
“Other two?” SSG69 asked, as you, her and her fox walked over to Migata and Butterfli3.
“Umm, yeah, there are two more people joining our party. Not sure if you’ve heard of them? Kirito and Asuna?” you said causally.
SSG69 wheezed so hard you thought she was about to pass out.
“I’m sorry…” she wheezed out in a strained voice, “did you just say… Kirito… and Asuna?”
“Yep,” you replied happily, “nice couple.”
“Do you know who they are?!” she screeched.
“Well, I do now. They were big in SAO,” you replied nonchalantly.
“Big… in SAO… They beat the freakin’ game, woman!?” SSG69 replied emphatically.
“Yep… well, they’re joining us,” you replied, still playing it super cool.
You watched as SSG69 simulated having a heart attack and your amused eyes met
Migata and Butterfli3’s, who had halted their conversation to watch your best friend’s theatrics.
“Don’t mind her,” you said dismissively, waving your hand, “she’s like this sometimes.”
Migata raised an eyebrow and Butterfli3 just looked concerned.
After SSG69 had calmed down, you all took a seat at a nearby table and talked about strategies to consider when taking on the boss.
“Ok, so it’s a dragon boss- that spits fire,” you confirmed.
“Yes, and 5 henchmen,” Butterfli3 added, “most bosses have henchmen that you have to fight first to get to the boss. They’re like the bosses body guards.”
“Ahh, I see,” you said thoughtfully, “and then we just have to watch the bosses attack patterns, find its weakness, and exploit it.” You concluded.
“Yes, basically, but then remember that when the boss gets down to the red on his last health bar, he changes his attack patterns and goes into what we call ‘rage mode’,” Butterfli3 replied, “that’s when it really counts, but don’t worry we have a very capable combat mage with us who can heal and fight.”
Butterfli3 looked at Migata and grinned widely. But Migata was eyeing SSG69 softly so you cleared your throat to get the blond mage leaders attention.
He quickly looked at you and you jerked your head towards Butterfli3.
“O-oh! Yep! That’s me,” Migata replied confidently, “….what am I supposed to be doing?” He added sheepishly.
“Fighting and healing,” you deadpanned.
“Ahhh, yes! Usually I’m a lover not a fighter but I’Il swap out the lover for healer in this case,” he said with an over exaggerated laugh that tapered off as you all just sat and gave him a blank stare.
“The kinks? You don’t know the song?” he asked happily looking around at you all, hoping that one of you would know the song and laugh, or at least crack a smile.
You all shook your heads slowly and he face palmed.
“I only know the fighter, lover song by Tiny Tempah,” SSG69 said.
“I’ll take it!” Migata replied enthusiastically doing a big thumbs up to her.
“Umm so… getting back to the boss fight,” you said, drawing their attention back to the meeting at hand, “what exactly will I be doing?”
“Maintaining our equipment,” a voice said from the door and everyone looked over to see Kirito and Asuna had just entered.
“Ohmygodohmygodohmygod,” SSG69 started chanting softly and frantically and you had to kick her under the table to get her to calm down a bit.
“Minus 10 on the fangirling,” you whispered harshly as the two SAO heroes approached the table to make introductions.
Butterfli3 stood and made the brief introduction of Kirito and Asuna, and SSG69 was having a hard time not cutting in and proclaiming her undying love for the pair.
Migata was the first to introduce himself followed by SSG69, who all of a sudden realized what she had named herself and immediately felt embarrassed at having to say her online name out loud.
Asuna giggled at SSG69’s flustered state and stepped forward to hug her.
“It’s ok, it’s better than putting your real name down, I regret putting my name as Asuna. I should have chosen something different.”
“NO! I LOVE ASUNA!” SSG69 replied hurriedly.
The SAO pair finally sat and the brief meeting continued.
“Umm, so I’m just maintaining equipment?” you asked.
“No, well, not exactly,” Butterfli3 replied, “Migata has a spell to turn you invisible to the boss and his henchmen so you can be our unseen eyes and giving us heads up as to who needs to watch their backs. Because the boss and henchmen can’t see you you’re practically safe from attacks.”
“Practically,” you said with air quotation marks, “what does ‘practically’ entail?”
