That class could have been awkward for you and Aizawa but it wasn’t because in a weird way you felt like you had the upper hand. Aizawa’s students loved you and you thought he just needed a little more time to come around and then you’d both be ok again.
Aizawa’s heart, on the other hand, was being pulled in two different directions. He really wanted you still… but he couldn’t allow himself to indulge in his own feelings like that. How selfish.
A few times he couldn’t help but glance at you and you seemed to be doing really well… despite your reply text last night- which he had finally gathered the courage to read.
He was a strong man, used to taking down hardened criminals and seeing death right in front of his eyes… but when it came to those who he held close- well, that was a completely different story.
At lunchtime, you walked down to the cafeteria to eat with the girls and they all welcomed you happily.
“Hey, Miss L,” Mina asked with a smile, “I heard that something happened with Aizawa on the patrol on Monday?”
“Yes. He was affected by a quirk but he is all better now,” you replied diplomatically.
“What was the effects of the quirk?” Hagakure asked, her uniform arms waving around.
“Uh… Umm…”
Yaoyorozu and Uraraka waited to see what your reply would be.
“It appeared to be a memory erasing type quirk that was quite singular in its attack range,” you replied, quite poignantly.
“Did it just erase you from his memory?” Jirou asked you.
“Uh… umm… myself and a few other of the faculty staff,” you lied.
“Ahhh, ok so it must have targeted those who work closest with him,” Uraraka commented thoughtfully.
“Mmmm,” you hummed in agreement, eating some food.
“So you and Aizawa are ok again now?” Mina asked.
“W-We never had any issues,” you lied, “yes everything is fine.”
“It’s just, he wasn’t looking at you like he usually did this morning,” she commented, picking up something else off her plate.
You coughed into your mouth then cleared your throat.
“Everything is fine. It’s a busy week this week because of patrols so he’s a little stressed,” you lied again.
“Oh! Patrols this afternoon,” Uraraka said, “I forgot about them. More people to talk to and old men to fend off.”
“It’s like that, unfortunately,” Mina sighed, “but then there are some super cute boys from that school on the corner. You know the one just past the paint shop?”
“Oh!!! Yes! They make my heart go all fluttery and my face goes bright pink!” Hagakure squealed.
“Hagakure… we can’t see your face, remember?” Uraraka replied with a sweat dropped look.
The girls continued to talk and you thought about Aizawa, hoping that things truly would go back to normal in just a few more days.
“I keep telling myself that I’m ok and I act like I’m ok but… I’m not.”
Your face fell for a moment and Yaoyorozu saw, her heart hurting for you.
Why did Miss L/N make that face? Is everything truly ok with her and Aizawa?” she thought sadly.
……………………………..
For the rest of that week, things were very steely between you and Aizawa.
You both kept your distance and only spoke if it was about class related activities and by the weekend you were starting to worry a bit.
“He hasn’t asked to talk about us. He hasn’t even approached me on the subject. He’s just moving on with his life. Was… was it real? Did he really mean for us to break up???”
That weekend you tortured yourself with the same questions until you felt sick to your stomach and decided to go for a walk to get outside and exercise.
Deep in thought, your feet carried you into Aizawa’s neighborhood and you found yourself walking past his apartment building.
“Oh god now I look like a stalker!” you screamed internally.
Turning around quickly, you walked back the other way, praying, now, that he hadn’t seen you in the area but unfortunately as you rounded the corner you saw him coming towards you.
In a panic, you spun back around and ran but he had seen you already.
“Y/N?” he called loudly and you sped up for a second.
“Do I stop? Or do I keep going? This could be a chance for us to talk?!”
You quickly stopped running and looked back.
He was still coming slowly along with a small bag of food in hand so you turned to face him and waited still he had walked right up to you.
“I was walking… exercising…” you said, averting your eyes from his.
“Near my place?”
“I know what it looks like but I just… I wasn’t even thinking, I just ended up around here but I’m going now,” you said, turning to leave for the second time.
“Wait,” he said in his commanding low voice, “I never meant to hurt you.”
You looked back at him, waiting for more.
“I hope we can keep professional…” he added.
“You… wait, professional?” you asked, turning back around again, “are you completely settled from the quirk now?”
“I’m not sure I follow,” he replied blandly.
“The doctor told me you might be a little emotionally violatile over the next few days after the quirk had been removed from you,” you said, “I assumed that the text you sent was particularly affected by the let down of the quirk?”
Aizawa blinked at you.
“I am of sound mind,” he replied, slightly irked, “the decision I have made is final. But I still wish for us to remain on pleasant terms.”
You couldn’t believe what you had just heard.
“So… I still don’t get a say,” you said in a numb tone, “that’s it? That’s really it? After everything. Just a ‘I hope we stay on pleasant terms’.” Your fingers flicking over in quotation marks around his comment.
He exhaled through his nostrils.
“Don’t think that this isn’t easy for m—,”
“It sure looks easy,” you snapped, “Mr ‘I’ll fuck you as many times as I please then I’ll be done with you and dump you’.”
“That is not the case,” he said angrily through gritted teeth.
“Isn’t it?” you snapped sarcastically, “then what is it, Aizawa? Huh? What is it?!”
He pushed his lips together and looked sharply at you from behind that heavy messy fringe.
“You are not in the right frame of mind to listen,” he replied sternly, “leave, Y/N. We will talk at a later date.”
“No,” you snapped, standing in his way as he stepped forward, “tell me now.”
