Your mind was still hyperfixated on Tokoyami so you quickly brushed the girls off with a promise to join them, then went straight to the shadow monster wielder and crouched down beside his desk.
The girls watched you go over to their classmate then Mina and Jirou smirked at each other and high-fived, making Uraraka sweatdrop at their eagerness to interrogate you.
“Why are they acting suspiciously?” Yaoyorozu asked Uraraka, after seeing the girls celebrate.
“Because they are suspicious,” the bubbly brunette replied with a chuckle, “I think they want details about Miss L/ N and Aizawa sharing a cabin.”
“They will get no details,” Yaoyorozu said confidently, “because nothing happened.”
“Momo, you’re a lovely person, and you always think the best of people, but I think I’m with Mina and Jirou on this one. I’m pretty sure something happened.”
………………………………..
“Tokoyami?” you asked gently as you settled on your haunches beside the bird-esque student.
He looked at you then looked down again.
“I am sorry Miss L/N,” he stated.
“Don’t apologize. These things happen. Quirks aren’t always controllable but that’s why you’re here in the hero course, to learn and grow. To be the hero that you are.”
He looked at you again then nodded slowly.
“Did… Dark Shadow hurt you?”
“Ok. I think I went a little overboard with my encouraging speech. He didn’t even care about it,” you thought with an internal chuckle then gave him a warm smile, “to be honest I’m not entirely sure if he did or not. The bruise I sustained is from unknown origin. I didn’t even notice it was there until today.”
Tokoyami nodded again.
“I just want you to know that I’m ok. And that I’m looking forward to watching you grow.”
He nodded again and stood up, deploying Dark Shadow, who came around to you and nuzzled into your arm as you stood as well.
“Oh,” you chuckled, patting the shadow creature on the head, “hello, nice to meet you in person.”
Dark Shadow nodded then disappeared back into Tokoyami’s body and you gave the student one last smile before turning to leave.
“I’ll let you go now,” you said, walking off to the back of the room again as the bell rang for the second class to start.
……………………………….
Finally the lunch bell sounded and you stood up and waited for the students to leave before following them out
“Are you coming, Miss L/N?” Yaoyorozu asked when she saw you had turned right instead of left out the door.
“Yes, I’ll meet you down there. I have to put some things away in the staff room then I’ll come down to the lunch area.”
She nodded and bounced away to put her books in her locker while you walked back to the staff room.
“Heyyyyy!!” Hizashi called loudly the minute you walked in, “you coming to lunch?! We’re getting sushi!”
“Oh,” you said sadly, “I’m so sorry, the girls have asked me to have lunch with them. I’ll definitely come next time though.”
“Awwww,” he wailed dramatically, “so it’s just me and Shouta again.”
“You’re not coming?” Aizawa’s voice asked from behind you, making you jump with fright.
“N-No. Sorry. Next time,” you replied stiffly.
He nodded then walked past you to put stuff away.
“Awww,” Hizashi moaned dramatically again, “I want to tease the two of you! Not just one.”
“Go, Y/N,” Aizawa said in a dead voice, “escape while I keep this villain contained.”
“Ohhh, forever the hero,” Hizashi teased his friend, “save your girlfriend.”
“We are not dating,” Aizawa stated and although it was true, it still stung.
“Bye,” you said in a dejected tone as you left, leaving the two men to watch you go.
“I think you hurt her, Shouta,” Hizashi said with his hands up in an animated shrug.
“It is true. We are not dating. It was merely a comment. Not a statement made in malice,” the deadpan teacher stated nonchalantly.
“Maaaaan, you’re gonna have to be a little softer with your words if you want to catch her,” Hizashi said, slinging one arm across Aizawa’s shoudlers and giving him a very intense eyebrow wiggle.
“I don’t need your help,” Aizawa said bluntly before shrugging Hizashi’s arm off and walking to the door then heading out with the blond chasing behind him.
………………………………………
Your heart was heavy as you walked down to the cafeteria, eyes downcast as Aizawa’s voice rang in your ears.
“’We are not dating’. Well, I mean, it’s true. We’re not. But the way he said it so sharply hurt. He’s so confusing. Why are guys so confusing,” you thought with annoyance as you rounded the corner, a stressed look on your face as you scanned the crowd inside the cafe and found the girls.
As expected, Yaoyorozu saw you first and waved you over, “I have a tray of food here for you already, Miss L/N, I picked out the food especially for you- they’re what I like and I figured you and I are very similar in our tastes, don’t you think?”
“Yo. You look stressed,” Mina interjected, “sit down, tell us what’s on your mind.”
“Fat chance,” you thought as you let your face soften.
You sat down next to Yaoyorozu- who nearly levitated with delight that you were sitting next to her- and thanked her for picking your food for you.
“This looks lovely,” you praised her, “thank you. And I’m sorry I looked stressed. It’s just… lesson plans,” you lied.
“So,” Jirou leered as you opened the bun packet and took a mouthful, “how was sleeping in the cabin with Aizawa?”
You inhaled with fright and the wayward piece of bun quickly slid down your trachea- heading for your lungs instead of stomach, which made you cough violently.
“Oh gosh!” Yaoyorozu gasped, quickly grabbing your water bottle and handing it to you, “Jirou,” she berated her classmate, “don’t ask such a lewd question! Miss L/N is shocked that you would think of such things!”
“I’m ok,” you choked out, taking a drink
of water and clearing your throat “I’m sorry that just caught me off guard. Jirou, Aizawa slept on the couch while I slept in the bed,” you lied.
“Are you a messy sleeper?” Mina asked with pointed interest, resting her chin in her hands and staring at you intently with her black and yellow intense eyes.
“L.. I’m not sure? I guess I am?” you replied curiously, “what is this all about?”
“Unfortunately,” Yaoyorozu started, “the girls did some—,”
Her words were cut off by Uraraka, who lunged across the table at her and slapped her hand across the class reps face.
“She’s saying weird stuff,” Uraraka lied with a giggle, “don’t mind her.”
