Aizawa just grunted then looked back down at his desk and continued to work, ignoring Hizashi while the latter maintained a permanent leer at his introverted friend.
“I hope I get to have lunch with Aizawa another time. I totally blew this chance but the girls all really wanted me to have lunch with them and I do want to get on the good side of the class.” You thought as you walked calmly down to the cafeteria, looking much more graceful than you felt.
You entered the cafeteria and Yaoyorozu’s delicate voice called your attention once she had spotted you, inviting you with a gentle wave of her hand over to the table full of the 1-A girls.
“Hey Miss L/N… can I call you Miss L?” Mina, the lovely pink skinned girl, asked, as you walked over to the group.
“Outside of a classroom settings, yes,” you replied with a smile, “I do have to maintain some professionalism inside the classroom.”
“Dope,” Jirou said as she twirled an ear jack around her finger, “you’re pretty chill, Miss L.”
“Would you like to come with me to get lunch?” Yaoyorozu asked politely as she stood up, “we need to get our trays then pick the food we would like.”
“Ok,” you said with a smile and all the girls jumped up to follow you over to the start of the lunch line.
It felt like high school all over again but this time you were the popular one, the girls all falling over themselves to help you and smiling excitedly whenever you addressed them personally or thanked them.
Once you had all gotten lunch you sat back down at the table and started eating and chatting together- with Yaoyorozu taking charge of the conversation and presenting her ideas in the most professional manner.
“I believe we need more freedom in the hero costume industry. The female body is not something to hide away! They wouldn’t allow me to have my costume more revealing because of regulations!” Yaoyorozu said indignantly before taking a delicate bite of her steamed bun.
“Yeah, but you have the perfect body, Momo… of course you don’t have any part of yourself that you’re embarrassed about,” Jirou mumbled, blushing shyly.
“Jirou, you are perfect!” Yaoyorozu gushed, “I won’t have you talk down about yourself!”
“No buts!” Yaoyorozu said sternly with a smile.
“I must agree,” you added, “confidence is key, be kind to yourselves.”
“I couldn’t have said it better,” Yaoyorozu said with a sigh as she gazed at you with an adoring look in her eye.
“You know who can’t take his eyes of someone… and that someone is fully clothed?” Mina leered suddenly, highjacking the conversation and turning it into a gossip session.
“Ooohh!! Who? Who?” Hagakure squealed excitedly from across the table.
“Mr Aizawa,” Mina leered, looking directly at you.
Your heart did a backflip and landed in the splits.
“W-What do you mean, Mina?” you asked curiously.
“Oh come on, Miss L… surely you’ve felt his eyes on you all morning?”
“N-No?” you stammered.
“Actually! Mina is right! He’s been a little distracted today, hasn’t he?” Ochako leered.
“What’s this? Does Aizawa like Miss L?” Jirou asked in confirmation.
“We shouldn’t discuss this personal topic with Miss L/N,” Yaoyorozu said defensively on your behalf, “there is no substantial evide—,”
“Do you like Mr Aizawa?!” Hagakure squealed at you.
“Shhh! Ribbit” Tsuyu hissed, “not so loud, Hagakure, you’re making a scene.”
“Girls, honestly, there is no way he wou—,”
“I’m gonna watch him next class! I bet he spends the whole time looking at you,” Ochako said with a devious eyebrow wiggle.
“He’s totally going to do the hair flick thing to show off his jawline,” Mina added with a giggle, “he did it this morning then looked at Miss L.”
“I did see that!” Ochako gasped, “was he looking at Miss L/N when he did it?”
“Yeah, he totally was,” Jirou added.
“Oh! Oh! And like the other day, when she was teaching us and he had this really proud smirk on his face?” Ochako continued excitedly, bouncing in her seat.
“No?” You interjected, “he was just happy he didn’t have to do the work!”
“No, he was definitely proud,” Ochako confirmed, “I’ve seen that same smile only a few times but it’s when someone lives up to his expectations.”
You sat there flustered as fuck, your mouth opening and closing as you tired to cut in a few times to stop them from saying other things but at the same time it was nice to know that he might be interested in you too.
“Miss L/N, I apologize for our very rude behavior in talking about a fellow teacher like that. Mina. Jirou. Ochako. Tsuyu. Hagakure. Please apologize now.” Yaoyorozu ordered authoritatively.
“But he likes Miss L/N!” Ochako pouted.
“Apologize!” Yaoyorozu demanded.
“Sorry,” the girls mumbled together, looking down at the table.
“Please don’t worry,” you said quickly, trying to placate everyone with furiously hand movements, “I appreciate that you are looking out for me but maybe this is something you shouldn’t pursue.”
“Do you have a boyfriend, Miss L?” Mina asked suddenly.
You choke coughed then cleared your throat and composed yourself, “n-no… no boyfriend.”
“Miss L/N, doesn’t need a man. She is perfectly capable on her own,” Yaoyorozu said defensively of you.
“Thank you, Yaoyorozu,” you said politely.
“You’re most welcome,” she replied with a bright smile.
After lunch you walked back to the staff room and plonked yourself down at your desk then let out a relieved sigh.
“Oh wow. Those girls are tenacious! I understand why principal Nezu said they were a lively bunch now.”
“YEAAAAHHHH!” A loud voice announced from behind you, making you jump violently and spin around to face the noisy arrival.
“Hizashi,” you wheezed, “you’re trying to kill me…”
“I’m here.” He said with a smile.
“Yes. Yes, I know,” you wheezed again, turning back to your desk as you fanned yourself with your hand.
“So? How was lunch?” He asked, strolling over and half sitting on your desk.
“Good,” you replied, definitely not wanting to elaborate.
“That’s it?” He laughed, “you’re beginning to sound like Aizawa!”
“How was your lunch?” You asked quickly.
“Quiet. Can’t get the man to say more than two words at a time… but he did tell me he read a research paper that was really well done.” Hizashi leered.
“Oh?” you asked, not really interested at that point, “what was it about?”
“Villain rehabilitation or something,” Hizashi said with a smirk, grinning when your eyes shot up and met his.
