You didn’t know what you were going to do.

You were too scared to go to the doctors. If they did a scan of the baby and found it had a fishes tail… well… you didn’t want to know what would happen after that, you had seen one too many mermaid science movies to know that it never ended well.

And, aside from that, you were a little apprehensive to go and tell Kaminari about it, because, well… what would he say?

You mulled over it until you were close to 3 months pregnant. You still weren’t showing yet but your morning sickness was horrendous.

The only thing that made you feel better was being on the beach, the sound of waves, and the smell of fish WHICH WAS SUPER WEIRD?! All of the book you had read had said that strong smell would supposedly make you feel worse.

You waited until the full moon that month, and then you went to your skipper.

“Hey,” you greeted him apprehensively, approaching him on the docks as he offloaded his catch of fish for the day.

“Y/N,” he greeted with a smile as he looked up at you, pausing for a second, “yer back on the boards, avn’t seen ye round since that day.”

“Yeah… it kinda… scared me a little bit. I was wondering if you could take me out tonight?”

“T’nite?!” he asked with surprise, his eyebrows shooting it into his hairline as he stopped unloading his nets for the second time.

“Yeah.”

“Y’don’t wanna go out in’th day first?” he asked with a bewildered look on his face.

“Uh. No, I want to face the dark again… face my fears,” you lied. 

There is no way you were telling him your were pregnant and the father was a merman who you had met once. 

“Yer game,” he chuckled, still a little bewildered by your sudden appearance as well as your sudden request, “but if ye want et then I’ll take y’out.”

“Thanks,” you said with a relieved smile that he had conceded so quickly.

You made a time to meet later and went home to mentally prepare what you were going to say to Kaminari- if you would be so lucky as to meet him again.

10pm that night, you were back on the boards- as they say, standing on the wooden decking that lined the docks, waiting for your skipper to pull up in his trusty old fishing boat.

He arrived shortly after you did and he helped you pull all of your gear on board then off you went.

“Where y’goin?” he asked, looking out over the dark waters.

“Same place as the last time… please…”

“Yer game,” he replied, not looking at you, “git back orn the horse- as they says.”

You nodded.

He took you back to exactly the same place as last time, and you prepared to dive again.

“Don’t worry about putting a rope on me this time,” you said as you put the oxygen tank on your back and strapped the front tightly to your chest.

Your skipper turned and looked at you, hoping to make eye contact as that would tell him a little more about what you were thinking… but you refused to look at him.

“Hey,” he said as you walked to the side of the boat and looked over.

He placed his gnarled sailor’s hand on your shoulder and you finally looked up into his face.

“I dunno what happened t’ya but don’t do anything that would make yer folk cry,” he said, concerned for your mental health at this point- as going into dark waters without a rope guide… was not a good sign… it also had the possibility of you never coming back. 

You nodded and gave him a forced smile.

“It will be ok,” you said softly, although you weren’t convinced of your own words.

With last things prepared, you turned and sat on the side of the boat then dropped backwards into the freezing waters.

Slowly, amid a torrent of bubbles, you descended into the depths and you let your body go numb with the weightlessness you felt.

It was a calming feeling, but also a slap to the face that this was real now and you were going to face the father of your unborn child.

Once you had sunk a bit, you twisted your body and started flicking your flippers slowly to help your descent.

You didn’t know if Kaminari would be around but you hoped he would be there.

Twisting your torch around in the waters, you tried to look for him. But the torch light didn’t show you anything. It was too dark and visibility ahead was limited.

You made your way towards the coral reef and swam around there for a bit, losing hope as time dragged on and your tailed mate never showed.

Then suddenly he was in front of you with an electric grin on his cute face.

“Hey!” he greeted brightly.

His sudden appearance surprised you and you screamed out a short burst of bubbles, your vision being blocked by the round capsules of exhaled air. 

“Sorry,” he chuckled, “did I scare you?”

“Mmmhmm,” you nodded.

“Wanna take that thing off?” he asked with a cute little smirk, “I can help you breathe.”

He reached forwards and pulled your mask off, making you want to gasp with the sudden rush of cold water to your face but you couldn’t inhale until he had kissed you. 

You didn’t have to wait long, then his lips were on yours, and suddenly your legs tingled, then they felt infinitely stronger and all of a sudden you could breathe.

“Why do I feel a little—?” You looked down to your… tail.”TAIL?!” You gasped.

“Woah?!” Kaminari said with surprise when he saw you were now a Mermaid, “what happened?! How did you? Are you… wait…”

“Kaminari… I’m… pregnant,” you said to him, using your tail to flick a little to keep yourself buoyant in the water.

“You’re… to me?! Am I the father?” he asked with surprise, again.

You nodded.

“Wait, but… so…” You looked down at your mermaid tail. “I’m… a…”

“Yeah… there are a lot of things to explain about how this happens… but uh… I wasn’t really paying attention in that class so…”

“Wait. Really? So… that’s it? I’m a mermaid now?” you asked.

“Pretty much?” he replied, leaving the sentence hanging in the air a bit before sudenrly remembering something, “actually… I think there is a way that you can be half human/half mermaid… but it… uh…”

“What? What is it?” you asked, eager to take on this sweet deal that was swinging between both worlds.

“Well… you gotta swallow my seed. Something about having a bit of me inside you keeps it in a half state?”

“I’m pregnant,” you deadpanned, “I literally have half of you inside me.”

“Hmmm, yeah… good point. But still. This is the only way this’ll work,” he said with a shrug and a grin.

“I swear… if this doesn’t work…”

“No, it will… I’m sure it will… I’m like 40% sure,” he replied confidently.

“40% isn’t a high number Kaminari,” you deadpanned again.

“Isn’t it? I thought it was because this is about a thing involving a half so that’s 50% right? So 40 is close to 50?”

You blinked at him.

“I am… very concerned right now. But I’m going to give this a try. So you said I need to take some of your seed into my mouth and swallow it, yes?” you confirmed.

He nodded, reaching for his sheath to rub it now that he was starting to get excited.

“I’ll work around it somehow,” you thought to yourself, unable to talk under water to him.

He grinned happily.

“Ok… I’ll take you to the surface now, but I’ll see you soon?” he said, helping you put your gear back on.

You nodded.

“Ok… bye sexy,” he said, gently placing a hand on your belly then leaning down to it, “and bye little one. I’ll meet you someday soon!”

You smiled again and then you two were off to the surface, and you were off home- much to the skippers delight to see you again.

Later that night, Midoriya suddenly came back, looking very flustered and disheveled.

“Hey man!” Kaminari greeted him, “you look like you’ve seen a sailors ass hair.”

“I… I… I met a human… a female one… she… showed me things,” Midoriya said bashfully.

“Oh! I met a human female too and we’re having a baby now!” Kaminari replied brightly.

“H-H-How did that happen?!” Midoriya asked, shocked.

“I’m not 100% sure on the how it worked. But it’s pretty cool,” Kaminari said with another smile, “she’s half mermaid now. I’ll introduce you to her when she comes back.”

“I—, what?” Midoriya asked, a little shell shocked.
