“Have a good night you two, and Shoto please have her home by 12pm before she turns into a pumpkin.” Your dad said with a goofy smile.
“Daaaad!” You whined, laughing.
“Yes sir, will do.” Shoto replied seriously.
The pleasantries continued as you and Shoto made for the front door. There was a flashy car waiting for you.
Shoto opened the car door for you and helped you in before walking around the other side and sliding in beside you. You both waved to your father as you pulled away from the curb.
“Y/N I’m concerned.” Shoto said, looking at you. “Are you really going to turn into a pumpkin? Is that an extension of your quirk?”
It took you a moment to realize what he was talking about and then you burst out laughing.
“Oh no no no it’s just a reference to the movie Cinderella, she umm..” you stopped. Shoto was still peering intently into your eyes. Fascinated by your story. “I’ll show you the movie sometime, you might like it?” You finished.
“If I’m watching it with you I’m sure I’ll enjoy it.” Shoto replied in a slightly flirtatious tone, eyes still locked onto yours.
You blushed and giggled out a small ‘ohh’
“He’s starting to get a bit more confident now.”
“Oh by the way Y/N the event tonight is a gala put on by my old man. It’s strictly invite only for the top 10 hero’s in Japan. There will most likely be a lot of press. It can be a bit overwhelming but I’ll be right by your side so don’t worry.” Shoto reassured you.
Before you knew it you had arrived at the venue. There were paparazzi and reporters EVERYWHERE. You gazed at the sight out the car window. Shoto reached over and squeezed your hand gently. You looked over and smiled at him.
“Ready?” He asked.
“Ready as I’ll ever be.” You replied with a grin.
As the car pulled up Shoto motioned for the driver to stay inside the car.
“I’ll escort the lady.” He said to the driver.
Shoto hopped out and walked around to your side of the car. Reporter screamed for his attention and cameras flashed wildly.
“I want them to see the most beautiful person here tonight.” He said smiling softly at you as he held a hand out to help you out of the car. You blushed heavily and your legs nearly gave out as you lifted yourself up. Shoto shielded you from the onslaught of paparazzi questions and ushered you inside.
“Man is it always like that?!” You asked Shoto as you made your way inside.
“Sometimes.” He chuckled. “I’m used to it by now.” He walked beside you to the entrance of the room. “Y/N, there are a few people I would like you to meet.” He said as he placed a hand on your lower back and gently guided you into a big hall. “Would you like something to drink first?” He questioned, still maintaining a hand on your lower back.
You could feel the hand on your back was warm… almost unnaturally warm and his other hand that was placed on your arm was quite cool… he looked a little flustered but was hiding his emotions well.
You couldn’t help but get lost in his eyes and forgot to answer.
“Y/N?” He asked, snapping you out of your daydream.
“Oh! Sorry! Umm no I’m fine for now thank you very much.” You replied hurriedly. You had a mixture of knots and butterflies in your stomach which left no room for food or drink at this present time.
Shoto smiled and stepped back from you extending the crook of his arm as an invitation for you to link arms with him. You gladly accepted and he pulled you in close to him.
“I would love you to meet a mentor and good family front of mine. Edgeshot.”
“EDGESHOT?!” You yelped in disbelief. “I love Edgeshot! He’s one of the coolest hero’s ever!”
Shoto chuckled and patted your arm. “Calm down, Calm down. I knew you’d be happy to meet him.”
The rest of the night was a blur of meeting big name heroes. Each of them called Shoto by his first name and seemed to have a degree of respect for him. He was proudly escorting you around introducing you as ‘an important person to him.’ Or a ‘close friend’ and following with some gushing compliments about your martial art style or talent. You were elated to be held in such high regard by Shoto but you longed to be more than just ‘close friends.’
Towards the end of the night you excused yourself to go to the bathroom. On your way back to the hall you were walking down a long corridor when you spied a somewhat familiar figure leaning casually up against the wall.
“Hawks??!”
You slowed as you neared the number 3 hero. He glanced over to you and gave you a flirtatious smile.
“Hey sweet cheeks.” He greeted you.
“Hi hawks.” You greeted him somewhat stiffly and intended to keep walk but he stepped in front of you and barred your way.
“What’s the hurry babe?” He cooed. “Don’t you wanna spend a little time with the number 3 hero?” He smirked and walked you backwards up against the wall, his right arm still blocking your escape.
You scowled and tried to excuse yourself.
“Hey, hey I don’t mean no harm.” he said grasping your chin in his left hand, pulling your face up closer to his. “Why don’t you kick it with a real man instead of endeavor 2.0?”
You knew he was talking about Shoto.
Your eyes narrowed and you were about to let loose when a blast of ice knocked Hawks flying. He flicked his wings out and after doing a flashy somersault landed in a crouched position, one leg out to steady himself.
You looked to see where the ice had come from, although you already knew who it was.
Shoto stood. Right arm raised. A VERY serious expression on his face.
“You keep your greasy hands off her.” He said cooly to Hawks.
Hawks laughed and stood up, straightening his suit. “Ahh trust you to turn up right when things were about to get interesting.” He smirked maliciously. “Was just about to take this babe for a ride in my Maserati.”
“You won’t be taking her anywhere.” Shoto growled, right arm still outstretched.
