“Good morning Y/N.” Todoroki’s mellow voice greeted your ears.
“Morning Shoto.” You replied with a smile.
“Yaaaaasss bitches I didn’t make a fool of myself, I am winning today!”
“Did you sleep well?” Todoroki asked softly
“Yep uh ha like a log baby, BABY NO LOG I SLEPT LIKE A LOG!” You fumbled for words.
“Cot damn brain fart can’t even function, idiot! Idiot! That win before was very short lived. Need to practice responding to questions!”
“Wait why did you ask how I slept?” You asked Shoto with a quizzical expression.
He seemed surprised “well you always ask me how I slept so I thought it was a polite part of your greeting to someone?”
“Someone please protect this man at all costs he is just too precious.”
“Oh, of course.” You replied, rubbing the back of your neck sheepishly.
“Oohhhkkaaay listen up!” Said the homeless man who had just entered the room. You knew by now he was your homeroom teacher Aizawa-Sensei.
“We’re dueling today. With quirks.”
There was an excited whisper that swept through the room.
“I will be drawing names out of a hat to determine who you will verse.” He stated.
“Ok, here we go.”
He started pulling names out. You waiting to hear your name and who you would verse. “Bakugo aaaaand … Y/N”
Bakugo was the last person on earth you wanted to verse in a battle. He was hot headed and short tempered, which, to be honest, perfectly matched his quirk: explosion.
He always yelled ‘die’ and his language was… vulgar – to say the least.
The rest of your classmates gave you pitiful glances. Bakugo, however, was grinning maliciously.
You hung your head. Trying to gather strength when you felt a hand on your arm. You looked to see who it was.
Shoto was looking at you, his arm outstretched, hand resting gently on your arm. He gave it a little squeeze and smiled gently.
“It’s ok.” He whispered. “You have already won against him. You’re smarter than he is. I have all faith in you.”
You suddenly felt confidence surge through your being. You straightened up and shot a determined smile at Shoto.
“Thank you Shoto.” You replied.
He smiled and nodded before removing his hand.
You lifted your head and glared at Bakugo who was still smiling maliciously at you. All that did was rile him up. A vein popped out on his forehead.
“I’ll kill you.” He whispered vehemently.
You changed into your P.E uniform with the rest of the girls in your class and made your way to ground Beta. The combat arena.
Aizawa-Sensei organized the first duel.
“Immobilize your opponent or surrender. Those are the two ways to win. If you injure your opponent you’re disqualified and will receive heavy detention.” He added.
There were a few duels then he called your and Bakugo’s name.
Quickly you walked into the arena. And watched as Bakugo walked to the other end turning to face you. He still had the ‘intent to kill’ look on his face.
“Ready?” called Aizawa-sensei. You activated your quirk. “BEGIN.” He hollered.
You could read Bakugo’s moves like a book. You knew he always started with a big right hook so you kept your eyes focused on his right arm. You also needed to keep your quirk activated so as to avoid any of his explosions. The heat in his palms would cause him to emit a glow just before he detonated his quirk, which was mighty helpful in avoiding his attacks.
He came flying at you, arms behind him propelled by explosions. His right arm tensed. “Here comes a hook.”
You side stepped and punched his right arm sending him flying off target.
“Another Right hook followed by a left bar block.” You countered expertly.
“YOU FUCKING BITCH, DIE ALREADY!” Bakugo screamed. He was mad. REAL mad.
“Time to end this.”
You lunged forward throwing punches and blocking his attempts to throw back at you. He certainly wasn’t backing down and was relying on brute force to try and overpower you. The fight was dragging out. You had the upper hand reading his moves but he didn’t have many openings and was quick with his movements. Your eyes were starting to tire.
You jumped back to get some recovery time. Deactivating your quirk your vision suddenly went blurry. You blinked furiously.
“GOT YOU NOW YOU BITCH! PREPARE FOR THE END!” Bakugo’s voice sent a wave of panic through you.
Without thinking you activated your quirk again.
Your world snapped into darkness.
The minute you blacked you heard a loud ‘SHHHHICK’ noise followed by more cursing from Bakugo. You had dropped to the ground at this point.
No sooner had your knees hit the ground a pair of strong arms grabbed you. You lashed out in fear of not being able to see but was immediately reassured by the voice that followed.
“heyy Y/N it’s me, it’s alright, I’ve got you, you’re alright.”
He pulled you in close to him and picked you up bridal style. You clutched his shirt and buried your face into his chest.
From across the arena you could hear a still irate Bakugo slinging insults at Shoto.
“PUT HER DOWN YOU HALF AND HALF BASTARD THIS ISN’T OVER YET!” He screamed.
“Lay a finger on her and you will meet your maker.” Shoto growled, his voice was low and serious.
“HOOOOO IS THAT A THREAT YOU FUCKING ICYHOT SHIT NUGGET?! COME HERE AND SAY TH-
“Its not a threat, IT’S A PROMISE.” Shoto interjected.
You vaguely heard Aizawa-Sensei say something about the infirmary but your mind was focused on Shoto.
“He sounds… protective??? What is he doing? What’s gotten into him?”
“Y/N are you alright? You can’t see can you?” Shoto’s voice was laced with worry.
“It’s ok Shoto I’m fine, but you’re right.. I can’t see. How did you know??? What happened back there?” You had so many questions.
