“Damn it!!! I could have kept some of my skills a secret for a little longer.” You groaned internally.
It’s not like you wanted to hide your skills completely but your Dad had told you to keep your cards close to your chest.
“This is a hero course.” he had said. “Everyone will be out there trying to prove themselves and sometimes the element of surprise is all the leverage you need.”
As you were about to make some kind of excuse for the jump a homeless looking man entered the classroom and told everyone to take their seats. His tone of voice and expression looked almost… bored?
He beckoned you to come to the front and you walked up beside him eyeing him suspiciously. “Give your name and reason you’re here.” He said nonchalantly.
“Hi everyone, my name is L/N F/N.” You smiled brightly “I have transferred from support studies to the hero course in the hopes of one day becoming a hero, I will be in your care from now on.” You bowed slightly.
Whispers rustled through the class.
The homeless man sighed. “Great, thank you for sharing, you’re sitting next to Todoroki Shoto.” He pointed to an empty seat next to the good looking guy you had eyed earlier.
“Todoroki????” You yelped from the front. “As in hero number 2 Endeavor, Enji Todoroki??? Are you related?!”
He grimaced and shut his eyes.
“Oops… struck a chord?”
“Please sit down we don’t have all day” homeless man snorted.
“Sorry.” You mumbled and quickly made your way to your desk. Painfully aware of everyone watching you.
Taking your seat you glanced across at Todoroki who still had his eyes shut.
“He’s not easy to read, nor is he very friendly but I still have to apologize.”
“Hey.” You whispered to him. He turned his head slightly and glared at you from the corner of his eye.
If looks could kill you’d be dead.
“s-sorry I embarrassed you.” You whispered sheepishly.
Todoroki just eyed you for a few more seconds before looking straight ahead.
“Phew man those eyes! Is his quirk heart attack?? because I think I just had one from that look.”[lunch break]
“Y/N!!” Ochaco called “lets have lunch together!!”
You smiled and made your way quickly to her desk, avoiding even breathing in Todoroki’s direction.
“They have a new vending machine in the corridor and it has strawberry milk!” She exclaimed. “Let’s go get some!”
You, Ochaco, Midoriya and Iida made your way out the door and down the hall chatting idly as you went. Arriving at the machine Ochaco put some money in, punched in the strawberry milk code and waited. The machine whirred and the milk carton slid forward ready to drop into the bottom catchment but at the last minute it jammed, leaving the milk hanging halfway out of the dispenser.
Ochaco frowned and tried to shove the machine but it was no use. Midoriya and Iida started brainstorming ways on how to encourage it to let go its strawberry victim.
Before anyone could stop you you stepped forward, arm outstretched, finger tips touching the glass window of the machine and after taking one steadying breath you slammed your knuckles into the display glass in a perfect one inch punch. The machine jolted back, releasing the strawberry milk and causing all 3 classmate’s jaws to fall to the floor.
There was a minutes deafening silence as they processed what they just saw, then suddenly all 3 started screaming and yelling questions to which you just laughed and retrieved the milk; handing it to Ochaco who was still fangirling over your strength.
“No no it’s not my quirk” you laughed as you responded to Midoriya’s enthusiastic questioning.
“I’ve just had martial arts training.” You said dismissively, your voice disappeared down the hall along with the others.
Todoroki stood just out of sight around the corner watching you all heading back to the classroom. He had witnessed your punch and walked, hands in pockets, over to the machine to confirm some suspicions.
He crouched down and looked at the metal encasements at the base of the vending machine. All 4 re-enforced bolts had been shattered.
Standing up he moved to the side of the machine and peered behind it. A massive dent where the machine had slammed into the wall met his gaze.
He frowned. “Surely she’s a power type?” He mumbled. “What an interesting girl.” He smirked internally and walked away.[After school]
Since Ochaco and you lived in a similar direction you were walking home together. She was a friendly, enthusiastic girl and you couldn’t help but warm to her. You shared stories about your family and connected on common interests.
All too soon you came to a crossroad where she had to divert to the left to get to her house and you had to continue straight on.
“See you tomorrow!” She yelled, grinning from ear to ear.
You smiled and waved back, grateful to have made such a good friend straight away.
You pulled your earphones out of your pocket and plugged them into your phone, scrolling through your song collection and settling on one.
You breathed in deeply and exhaled as the song began, letting your mind wander as the song played.
Walking briskly through the quiet streets you thought you saw someone hiding in the bushes near the roadside.
Activating your quirk you quickly identified a human hidden among the foliage, looking in your direction. You paused the music in your ears but kept the earbuds in so as not to let the person know you had spotted them. 2
Continuing on the same path without breaking stride you were almost level with them when they launched out of the bushes aiming to grab for your neck.
Stepping swiftly to the left you pivoted and faced your attacker head on and before they could land from their leap you fired off a series of chain punches into their chest and abdomen.
The assailant, a middle aged man, collapsed on the footpath in front of you, winded and confused.
You quickly grabbed him and held him in a choke hold, staring him down.
“Can I help you?” You asked coldly.
“Go to hell.” The man choked out.
“I guess there’s no need to ask what you were after as it’s irrelevant now.” You replied, voice full of disdain.
You dragged the still winded man to his feet and hauled him off with you down the road making for the police station that was just around the corner.
From a distance. Heterochromic eyes watched you. He had seen more than enough to figure out at least one thing.
“Wing Chun.” He mused and let out a small chuckle. “That’s her fighting style at least.” Todoroki was intrigued.
Who was this girl who had come to the hero course?[Later that night- Todoroki’s house]
He rolled over on his bed, closing his book and sighing. He reached out for his phone and opened Google. “Wing Chun dojo near me.” He muttered as he typed it into the search bar.
His eyes lit up as the results from his search popped up on his phone screen. “Oh? There’s one 2 blocks from here.”
