You slid open a set of older style Japanese doors and froze. “What in the fresh hell happened in here!?” It was a Dojo of sorts? But the walls were charred, floorboards broken in places, patches of unknown substances stained the floor. “Is that BLOOD?!”
“This is not a good room.” Shoto’s cold voice behind you made you jump.
“Ummm… w-what happened in here?” You asked quietly.
“This was where I was tortured.” Shoto said bluntly. “My damn old man called it ‘training’ but it was far from it.” Shoto spat those last words out.
The room felt haunted, the hair on the back of your neck stood on end. You could almost hear the cries and screams ringing from the memories trapped in the charred room.
You jumped violently when Shoto placed a hand on your shoulder. Snapping you back to reality. You spun to face him and, wrapping your arms around him, buried your face into his chest, eyes brimming with tears.
“Shoto I’m so sorry.” you whispered into his chest.
“It’s ok Y/N.” Shoto said, placing a hand on your head. “It’s in the past now, all I can do is grow from it.” He closed the doors quietly and led you to his room. You wiped the tears from your eyes and collected yourself. He had a nice spacious room. A low lying table was placed perfectly in the middle of the floor. You followed him over to it and sat down next to him.
He pulled his books out and spread them across the table. “Ready?” He asked, noticing your solemn mood.
“Are you ok?” You suddenly blurted out.
“Yes Y/N I’m fine? What’s wrong?” He replied, surprised by your sudden outburst.
“No, but are you really ok? That dojo room was something from a horror movie!?” You couldn’t shake the image from your mind.
“Please don’t worry.” Shoto said softly. “What I went through has made me stronger. I can now use my strength to protect you. That’s all I care about now. My past can’t hurt me.” He glanced at your lips longingly but refrained from kissing you. “Uh ok… lets focus on.” He was interrupted by your hand on his thigh. “On.. on ah…” his eyes flicked from your hand to the books and back again.
You giggled as you watched his struggle to focus. His leg started to heat up.
“Hey, ok listen, let’s work a bit on your quirk control.” You interrupted his internal battle.
“Oh?” He looked at you, eyes shining.
“Ok so I have a theory that it’s the tension in your body that’s causing you to lose control.” You said, locking eyes with him. “The tension is being caused by strong emotions.” You leaned closer and slid your hand gently across to his inner thigh. He gulped and tried to look away.
“Look at me, Shoto.” You demanded tantalizingly. “You need to learn to relax when you’re tempted to lose control.”
He kept his gaze trained on you but you could see he was struggling to relax. You moved your hand away but kept your face close to his. You could feel the heat radiating from him. “Breathe baby.” You whispered. It only made things worse. He leapt away as his left side activated and flickers of fire danced on his skin.
“Y/N!!! I’m sorry! I’m so sorry!!” He cowered away.
“Shoto it’s fine! I’m fine! I promise! It was too much too soon, I’m sorry, that was my fault.” You got up and crouched in front of him. “You didn’t hurt me, you were too quick, you moved before your quirk completely activated.” You said impressed.
“It’s no good Y/N I’m too attracted to you, everything you do makes me lose it.” Shoto said slightly embarrassed.
“That’s not a bad thing.” You laughed. “We’ve only been dating a week! It’s all new, don’t stress.” You pressed a kiss to his lips quickly.
He blinked in surprise.
“Ok,” you said settling back. “Let’s ACTUALLY do some work now or we’ll never get this done!”
Shoto smiled and crawled back next to you. “Lets.” He said, holding out a pen to you.
[Later]“Yaaaaaasssss.” You said, stretching as you placed the pen down. “Finished!”
Shoto stretched and yawned. “What time is it?”
“9:30pm.” You said looking at your phone.
“9:30?! I have to get you home!!!” Shoto yelped, jumping up from his spot on the floor next to you.
“Or I could sleep here with you?” You replied seductively.
“And risk me burning the house down with my emotionally unstable quirk?” Shoto asked surprised.
“Shoto I didn’t know you could make jokes! That’s hilarious.” You belly laughed.
“N…..no it wasn’t a joke?” Shoto replied seriously. “It might happen.”
“You’re too clever to ever let it happen, silly.” You jumped up and hugged him. He hugged you back happily.
“Come, I’ll walk you home.” He led you to the door.
The walk home was nice. You made small talk and giggled at things as you walked together. Shoto had held your hand the minute you both got outside and he was doing a good job keeping his temperature in check. You noticed it go haywire a few times but he managed to rein it in.
“Good work on the ‘unstable’ quirk, cutie.” You said with a wink as you stopped in front of your house. His palm immediately went hot and he let go of your hand.
“Y/N I cant handle the cute names you give me… I’ve never been called ‘cutie’ or ‘baby’ before. It’s foreign but I think I like it. Maybe like it a little too much? I’m not sure.” He said, looking away embarrassed.
“I will use them sparingly, and with consideration towards your quirk too.” You said in a professional manner. “Thank you for walking me home.” You smiled up into his gorgeous eyes, the streetlight catching the hue in his left eye, making it shine brightly.
“Anything for my girl.” He said gazing lovingly at you. You blushed.
“SEE! YOUR CUTE NAMES FOR ME AFFECT ME TOO!!” You squealed.
