The assistant, Susa, was now on a bit of a high and quickly rang up the items for Dabi while Fueji continued to flirt with her, and in a matter of seconds Dabi had the rings in boxes and was ready to go.
“I’ll DM you,” Fueji said to her before leaving and she giggled her reply then the two boys left.
“You just couldn’t help yourself, could you?” Dabi teased Fueji as the exited, grabbing his friend in a headlock and rubbing his knuckles across his scalp.
“Hey man, she’s super hot, ok? And she’s my type. Giggly and friendly.”
“The word you’re looking for is ditzy,” Dabi said, letting Fueji go.
“She’s still hot,” Fueji replied with a smirk, “you got your rings anyway, what’s up your ass?”
“Nothing man, I’m happy for you,” Dabi said with a shrug, “I’m just teasing.”
“We have to double date,” Fueji said as they walked side by side down the road.
“Done,” Dabi said, holding his hand out for a hand slap, “now I gotta figure out how to do this.”
“Do what?”
“Ask Y/N to marry me… I know she’ll say yes so maybe I’ll organize the wedding and just take her there on the day,” he shrugged.
“Actually.” Fueji said thoughtfully, “that’s a very you thing to do. I say do it.”
Dabi thought for a second then grinned and let out a little devious chuckle.
“You know what?… I’m gonna.”
……………………………………..
The next day Dabi called a marriage celebrant that lived in the area and asked about her availability and giving her some dates.
“Yes, I can be available for any of those dates,” the kindly celebrant said on the phone, “have you got a venue organized?”
“Well… here’s the thing,” Dabi said, “me and my girl have been together since highschool. And we now have a baby girl. If she left me I would pursue her to the ends of the earth to get her back and I know she would do the same for me. We’re soulmates. So what I wanna do. Is organize a surprise wedding…”
“A… surprise wedding?” the celebrant asked dubiously.
“Yeah. She’ll love it,” Dabi replied confidently.
“I… I’ve been a celebrant for a long time and I have only ever been involved in one surprise wedding and it didn’t go down too well,” she said honestly.
“If this goes down horribly then someone has switched out my girl and it’s an imposter,” Dabi said.
The celebrant still wasn’t totally convinced but agreed to go along with his plan regardless.
What he wanted to do, was organize a little beach holiday for the 3 of you. You, him and Koemi. And while you were walking along the beach one afternoon he wanted the celebrant to just walk up to the two of you on the beach and start talking about the union of two people. Then, when the speech was done, marry you both, and then just walk off like nothing had happened.
Then, after that, he was going to take you to a restaurant nearby that had all the friends and family waiting – who would be in on the surprise by now – and that would be the reception.
He had everything planned out in his mind… the only anomaly… was Missy K.
He really wanted her to get a pretty dress and to be able to throw petals while you and he were in the middle of getting surprise married on the beach, but he didn’t know if he could trust his little girl enough to keep quiet about it so as not to spoil the surprise.
So he decided to test her.
One afternoon, he bought some of your favourite chocolates and hid them in the cupboard before you came home.
Then, when Koemi woke from her nap, he took her downstairs to the kitchen to show her the stash of chocolates.
“I got these for mummy,” he said as he held her in his arms, “but it’s a secret, ok? We won’t tell her that they’re there until after dinner, ok? And if you don’t tell mummy… I’ll let you have as much as you like.”
Her eyes lit up like saucers and she just stared at him.
“Can I have twenteen hundred?” she asked in the most amazed voice she could muster.
“That’s a big number, but I’m sure that can be arranged. But you can’t tell mummy, ok? It’s a surprise.”
“Ok, daddy, I’m good at sumprises (surprises).”
“Good girl, I know you’re clever,” he praised her.
Just then he heard you walking up to the front door and he put Koemi down so she could run to greet you at the door.
“We’ll see how this goes. If she can keep this a secret I might just be able to trust her with the wedding surprise.”
Your little girl met you at the door and gave you a big cuddle and you stepped in, eager to talk to Dabi about your day.
“Hey mamma,” Dabi greeted you with a kiss, “how was your day?”
“I’m glad you asked because Emi has been scouted by a kindy volleyball team and she accepted! She’s going to join next year,” you said with excitement. “I’ll miss her, but she’s a good little player so I think this is the best thing for her…”
You continue to chat with Dabi and Koemi hung around for a little bit but then went off to play and nothing was mentioned about the chocolates.
Dinner time came, and Dabi thought for sure Missy K was going to say something… especially when you happened to mention you were craving your favourite chocolates.
Dabi looked at Koemi to see if she would say anything but she just replied his look with a blank stare then looked away as if to say ‘uh, no? I don’t think so. I’m keeping tight lipped so I can have my share of the chocolates, thank you very much’.
And then it came time for dessert.
“Well?” Dabi said in a loud announcement type voice, “I do have something here for your dessert, mamma.” He gave you a sly look.
“I swear to god, daddy, if this dessert is in your pants I’m going to lose my sh… shingles.”
“No,” Dabi chuckled, “this is in the cupboard.”
“Thank god.”
“Koemi? Did you wanna tell mummy?” he asked her.
“Is it still a sumprise, daddy? If I tell her will I still get my chocolates?” she asked.
“Yes, baby, you can tell her now,” Dabi said with an little amused chuckle, “and you’ll still get your chocolates.”
“Daddy got you your favourite Tokolates (chocolates), mummy! And I can have a billion!”
“Hey, woah now, I thought it was twenteen hundred before? Now it’s a billion?”
