“Daddy tried to eat Mrs Foods!” Koemi said accusingly and dramatically.
“Who?” you asked.
You looked from her to Dabi and saw his jaw shift slightly and a soft cracking coming from between his teeth.
When he realized that the sound had been loud enough to be audible, he froze, his eyes locking with Koemi’s.
“Daddy!” she suddenly gasped, “no! Don’t eat her!”
“What’s going on?” you asked, confused now.
“Mm noh, (I’m not),” he mumbled with something in his mouth.
She ran over to him and grabbed a hold of his lips and tried to pry them apart.
“What’s going on? Who is Mrs Foods?” you asked again.
“This! This is Mrs Foods,” she said dramatically, letting go of his lips to run over to her book case and pulling out the container of walnuts.
“Where did they come from?” you asked with surprise, “I was accused of eating all of those!”
“Daddy eated her!” Koemi wailed, holding up the container where you assumed he had taken some out.
“Daddy?” you asked in a pressed voice, “you owe both of us an apology! You accused me of eating all of those!”
“Hang on, I have a mouthful,” Dabi said, quickly chewing the rest of the walnut down.
“Give her back!” Koemi wailed, dropping the container on the floor and running back over to open Dabi’s mouth, but instead he grabbed her and laughed manically as he pulled her onto the bed.
“You’re mine now! Mwah ha!” he laughed loudly and crazily while she screamed with laughter and tried to get away.
You smiled and shook your head as you watched him wrestle with her and once he had made her giggle enough times he dropped her onto the bed and got up.
“How was your day, mummy?” he asked with a kiss on your lips.
“Good. The kids missed Koemi though. What did you get up to?”
“What did we get up to? Well… I had a lengthy conversation with a container of walnuts and had to hold wowowbow’s hand because it was scared of the bees buzzing in the flowers nearby,” he said casually.
“Sounds like a mental institution,” you chuckled softly.
“We played picnics!” Koemi announced happily, “but then daddy got into jail because he ate Mrs Foods.”
“I see,” you replied to her, turning to go back downstairs, with them following.
You chatted while you got yourself food, then went to sit in the lounge while the other two put the volleyball on to watch. While you were eating, you looked down at the couch and saw a bit of smeared chocolate on there.
“Missy K?” you asked, “did you eat chocolate on the lounge?”
She looked at you with a guilty look and then looked at Dabi.
“Daddy said I could,” she said softly, throwing him under the metaphorical bus.
You looked at him.
“Daddy. You know the rules… no eating chocolate on the lounge.”
“Yeah, but she… but she… she said I was the boss?”
You raised an eyebrow at him.
“So you let her talk you into it by using your own ego against you?” you asked in an accusing voice.
“But I am in charge of this house,” he replied defensively, trying to puff his chest out.
“Oh you’re damn right you are, so you can go and get a damp cloth and clean this lounge, thank you, sir,” you said in a very strict voice.
“Ok… mummy,” he said softly, then got up to go and get a cloth.
“You tell him, mummy,” Koemi said in a sassy voice with her arms crossed and an approving nod of her head.
You really wanted the chuckle at her antics but refrained and gave her a stern look too.
“Listen. When mummy says you can’t do something you don’t go and ask daddy instead, ok? That’s not how this works. And if you do it again I’ll make you do all the lounge cleaning and floor cleaning until you’re 20 years old.”
“But I’ll be died then?” she replied, mortified.
“Well then I suggest you do as mummy asks the first time, ok?” you said sternly.
“Yes, mummy,” she said shyly, looking down at her feet.
Just then Dabi came back a little sheepishly and started cleaning while you continued to sit and enjoy your food.
“Can I have a kiss after I finish, mumma?” he asked as he cleaned the lounge beside you.
“Mmmmm,” you hummed with uncertainty, giving him a side look, “ok… if you do a good job.”
“I will,” he replied with a grin.
After he finished cleaning the chocolate off the lounge he leaned in for his kiss and after you had finished the kiss and pulled back, he reached around and grabbed the back of your neck and squeezed it, pressing your forehead to his.
“You may be the queen of the house but remember who you bow to in the bed,” he growled lowly before tilting his head slightly so he could bite your bottom lip with his teeth.
Thankfully Koemi didn’t see any of this domination, as she was too busy watching the volleyball match on TV.
“Yes daddy,” you breathed seductively.
“Mmmm… I think we need some time alone tonight,” he growled lowly again and you giggled lightly.
“It doesn’t take much to get you going, does it,” you chided, “We’ll continue this later…”
You batted him off so you could finish lunch and then snuggled into his side to keep watching the volleyball.
At one stage you looked down at Koemi who was sitting on the floor at your feet and seemed to be swaying a little.
“Koemi?” you asked her, “are you tired?”
“No mummy?” she replied through a yawn, her eyelids heavy with sleep.
“Did she have a nap today?” you asked Dabi.
“Uhh,” he hummed, thinking back over the day for a second, “uh, no, I don’t think she did—,”
“Daddy!” you chided.
“Sorry! We were so into the picnic thing that I forgot to put her down for a nap.”
“Oh well… early night tonight,” you sighed, seeing her swaying again.
You looked at the time and it was around 3pm so you did a quick calculation and thought ahead that putting her to bed around 6pm would work.
“We just need to keep her awake for a little longer then we can start dinner, then bath, then off to bed for her.”
“Then mummy and daddy can have some time together,” he added suggestively, sliding his hand up your thigh.
“Stop that,” you chuckled, swatting his hand away and standing up, “come on, let’s go for a walk.”
“Can I go on my pink bike?!” Koemi suddenly gasped with excitement when she heard you say ‘walk’.
