“Looks like our girls have similar personalities,” Dabi mused to Kuroo, “mine wouldn’t hesitate to kick me either.”
“I like your girl already,” Kuroo’s girlfriend said to Dabi.
“We’ll have to meet up one day,” he replied, “but until then, I’d better get going home.
“I’ll see you out,” Kuroo said, stepping back up beside him, “have something to ask you as well… I’ll be back short stack,” he said to his girl, turning and heading off to the door with Dabi.
Dabi glanced at his watch and then grunted and tucked his hand back in his pocket with Kuroo glancing at him.
You good?” he asked.
“Yeah. Thought I would have time to go home and eat before work…” Dabi replied.
“You? Work?” Kuroo chuckled, “you really have changed.”
“Shut up,” Dabi sneered, “I’m teaching a bunch of babies how to run in diapers.”
“Sounds fun,” Kuroo replied with a cheeky smirk as he walked Dabi to the side door.
“Whatcha need?” Dabi asked Kuroo once they were out of earshot of the players in the building.
“You still got the keys to utopia?” Kuroo asked the scarred ravenette.
“Yeah,” Dabi replied with a smirk, “you wanna take your girl there?”
Kuroo nodded with a mischievous look in his eye. “Yeah… I got some plans for Thursday night.”
“Oh ho,” Dabi mused knowingly, “those types of plans. Did you need a ride? I just got a car so you name the time and I’ll come and get you.”
“You got a car?” Kuroo asked with surprise, “awesome! Thursday night 10pm come and get me… same address, I haven’t moved.”
“Sure,” Dabi replied, holding his fist out to bump Kuroo’s.
The pair shared a knowing look then looked back over to where Kuroo’s girlfriend was now sitting beside Kenma.
“She seems like a good girl,” Dabi commented to Kuroo.
“She is,” Kuroo replied with a loving look in his eye before he remembered something else, “oh… I got a game on tomorrow here too, wanna come watch?”
“I’ll see what I can do man,” Dabi replied, fist bumping Kuroo with one hand as he flicked his hoodie up with the other, “I know you need daddy here to cheer you on…” His smirk could been seen clearly from under the rim of his hoodie.
“You’re an ass, Dabi,” Kuroo sneered.
………………………………..
Dabi was already thinking about what he was going to focus on with the girls that day as he walked the last bit of the way to work then entered the hall, giving Tonkata a head jerk in greeting.
Omawei looked over immediately when she heard Dabi’s voice and blushed a little before looking away, her bashfulness not going unnoticed by the 16 year old server who hated Dabi’s guts for calling her a one trick pony.
She still attended the practices, but if Dabi said something she didn’t like, she would just up and leave- which pissed him off.
“If you’re gonna keep walking out each time I call you out for your sh…stuff, then don’t bother coming back,” he had said to her the last time she had left in a huff.
She had promptly ignored him, getting angrier and angrier that he had just suddenly walked in and ruled the roost.
After greeting Tonkata, Dabi’s eyes flicked to the girls and he gave them a sneering grin.
“Ready for practice?” he asked in a mischievous tone.
Most of the girls groaned, fearing a tonne of sit ups and serves, but Omawei smiled and nodded her head rapidly, just excited to be in Dabi’s presence again.
The 16 year old server watched Omawei’s reaction and smirked to herself.
All throughout the lesson, she kept her eyes on Omawei, an evil sneer pulling at her lips when she could see there was some infatuation from the 14 year old’s side of the fence.
It was after the lesson, once Dabi and Tonkata had left, that she sauntered up to her teammate.
“So… you seem to be doing really well?” she commented to Omawei, who looked up and smiled to the server from where she was tying her shoelaces.
“Yeah! I feel like I’m improving a lot!”
“Mmmm,” the 16 year old hummed coyly, “I’d say that’s all thanks to Dabi… huh?”
Omawei blushed. “Yeah. He’s been really helpful. He even stayed back to help me train…”
“Oh? He did?” The server asked, plopping down on the bench beside the smaller 14 year old, “that’s interesting…”
“And he even walked me home afterwards too…”
“Ohhh?” she hummed, “just the two of you?”
Omawei nodded bashfully.
“That’s a bit… intimate… isn’t it?” the server hummed deviously, “I bet people would think you two were dating…”
Omawei blushed. “Mmmm, well… people already think we are…”
The 16 year old gasped dramatically. “Wow, really? You like him too don’t you? That’s perfect then… if you like him and people think you two are together.”
“B-But please don’t say anything,” Omawei said quickly, “h-he doesn’t know that people think he and I are dating, and, and, h-he doesn’t know I like him either…”
“Ohhh, I won’t say anything,” the server replied with a hidden coy smirk, “your secret is safe with me.”
She gave Omawei one last fake smile then stood up.
“I think he likes you too… he’s always paying you more attention than the rest of us… it looks like he only cares about you.“
Omawei’s face went bright red and she covered her cheeks with her palms. Just the thought of Dabi possibly liking her back was enough to make her flustered.
The 16 year old smirked and left, satisfied that she had enough information to be able to ruin Dabi… should she see the opportunity arise.
………………………………………
Dabi was late home again that night, reeking of alcohol. You had gone to bed early so you only vaguely remember him crawling into bed beside you.
The next morning, you got up and went to college without him. You didn’t care if he skipped classes or not- that was his problem, not yours.
After class, you headed back home. Dabi wasn’t there but did you really care at that point? These days you were starting to get used to being alone.
Dabi had skipped college that day and once his hangover ass had settled a little bit he had gone back to Nekoma to support his boys again- at Kuroo’s request.
He was starting to get used to relying on his past teammates and work, to give him fulfillment… things with you at home were more than prickly and he just didn’t want to be in the house alone with you… what was he going to say anyway? You two were completely different people now.
