“Oh?” he said with surprise, “why can’t she bring it in the restaurant?” He opened the front door and you all left and headed for the car, with Koemi skipping happily ahead with her wowowbow in her arms.
“Because if she loses it, that’ll be the day the world ends,” you said, your sentence sounding dramatic but both you and Dabi knew damn well it would be the end of the world if you lost it.
“As if she’s going to lose it, she’s permanently attached to that thing,” he replied, gesturing to her and her vice like grip on the wowowbow, “if it gets lost, there will be her arm attached to it.”
You scrunched your brows with dubiousness and concern.
“Well, if it does get lost… it’s on you daddy,” you relinquished.
“You won’t lose your wowowbow, will you, baby?” Dabi asked her as he opened the car door and she climbed in and hopped into her carseat.
“No daddy,” she said sweetly, giving you an almost sly look.
“God, this child knows how to play the game doesn’t she…” you thought with a small shake of your head as you got into the passenger side of the car.
It was a semi decently long drive to the restaurant and you all got out once you arrived, and headed in through the doors.
Most of the other players were there and Koemi called out happily when she saw Fueji, letting go of Dabi’s hand to run to him.
“Ayyy,” the grey haired player called happily, standing up from his chair and putting his arms out for her to jump into, “there’s my girl.”
“Your girl,” Dabi scoffed.
“Now boys, don’t fight over the girls,” you chided playfully, taking Koemi from Fueji’s arms and sitting her in the high chair that the staff had bought over.
More of the team turned up and everyone was alive with laughter and chatter and then the food came out.
It was a lovely night and you chatted and ate, while Koemi ate and got passed around from lap to lap, sneaking chips and whatnot from any plate close enough to steal food off.
It was around 9pm when your girl started yawning pretty heavily and you gave Dabi a look.
“Looks like I gotta get the girls back home,” Dabi announced to a teammate once he had deciphered your look.
“Yeah,” the teammate replied, “looks like you’re losing one already.”
Koemi’s eyes were getting very heavy and glazed and she yawned again and lay her head against Fueji’s chest.
“She can sleep here, I’ll carry her to the car for you,” he said.
“Thank you, but I think we’d better start making tracks,” you said, standing up from your chair.
Missy K was fading fast and you quickly packed the bags while Fueji stood up with her in his arms and rocked her gently while Dabi took the bag from you.
“Ok,” he said, “let’s go. Thank you all.”
The team choruses their goodbyes and you, Dabi, and Fueji with Koemi in arms, headed out the door to the car.
“Thanks,” you whispered to him as he placed her in her car seat and you buckled her in.
You and Dabi got in the front seat and then off you drove home with an asleep little Koemi in the backseat.
Once at home, you quietly unbuckled her out of the seat and carried her to the front door while Dabi opened it and jogged in ahead to get her room set up her bed with the blankets pulled back.
You followed him and gently lay her in bed and pulled the sheets up with a little smile on your face.
She sighed and rolled onto her side and reached a hand out for her wowowbow but it wasn’t there… so she swished her hand back and forth on the bedsheet to try and locate it, but it wasn’t anywhere within reach.
She popped one tired eye open to look for it and sat up while you were still waiting by her bedside.
“Where’s wowowbow?” she asked in a weary voice.
“Ummm… I think….” You looked over at Dabi at the door.
“It’s in the bag. I’ll get it,” he replied in a low voice as he raced from the room.
“Lie down, sweetheart, daddy will be back with your wowowbow,” you reassured her, helping her lay back down as you brushed your fingers through her hair.
Dabi was taking longer than expected and you started to get a little concerned, but then his shadow crossed the doorway and you smiled as he entered and held your hand out for the wowowbow.
But he was empty handed.
“Wowowbow? Daddy?” Ko asked sleepily.
“Uhhhh,” he stalled nervously.
“It’s still at the restaurant… isn’t it,” you hissed at him.
“Where’s wowowbow?” Koemi asked a little urgently.
“I—,”
“I want my wowowbow!” Koemi suddenly screamed in a panic, realizing that something had happened to it.
“Daddy?!” you asked urgently.
“I’m on it, I’m on it,” he said quickly before turning and running out the door while you tried to calm your frantic toddler down.
“Wowowbow! Wowowbow!” she sobbed, “I want wowowbow!”
“I know, sweetheart, daddy is gonna get wowowbow now,” you said, picking her up out of the cot and giving her a cuddle, “we’ll wait in the rocking chair while daddy saves wowowbow.”
You sat down in the chair and held her close while rocking back and forth while she sobbed the name ‘wowowbow’ over and over.
……………………………….
Meanwhile, Dabi was desperately trying to call Fueji.
“Pick up, pick up,” he hissed to himself as he sped back to the restaurant.
Finally, after 3 missed calls, Fueji picked up- sounding drunk as hell.
“Heeeeyyy sexy,” he greeted Dabi in a very drunk voice.
“Fuck me. How drunk are you?”
“Up to my fucking balls,” Fueji hiccuped.
“Ok. Fuck. Have you seen Koemi’s wowowbow?”
“A what?”
“WOWOWBOW. Jesus Christ, Hanta. Where is it? Have you seen it? Koemi’s volleyball.”
“Uhhhhh,” Fueji sloshed, “lemme…. Look.”
“Don’t bother, fucking useless piece of shit,” Dabi said angrily. He wasn’t exactly angry at Fueji’s drunk ass, but it certainly wasn’t helping the situation.
“Awww, talk dirty to me daddy,” Fueji joked.
Dabi was so pissed he just hung up and kept driving there.
With squealing brakes and a heavy door slam, Dabi was out of the car and into the restaurant in an instant.
“Where’s the fucking wowowbow?!” he yelled loudly to the team that were still there… and very drunk.
“Aaayyy! Dabi!” One of the teammates called, “grab a drink.”
“I’m not here to drink, you bastard, I’m here to find Koemi’s wowowbow!”
