The next day at school you were a bit dejected.
“Oi, what’s got you down?” F/N asked when she saw how quiet you were.
You sighed. “Nah, don’t worry about me, I’m fine, there’s not really anything you can do anyway…” You replied sullenly.
“Try me.” She challenged. “I might be more useful than you think.”
“Ok, what can you do about being able to extend my quirk? Can you help with that?” You replied in a slightly irked voice.
You didn’t want to have to tell her that you wished you wanted more time with Shinsou because you felt a bit stupid about it in the first place and you knew she was probably going to tell you off for being an idiot.
“Why? Why do you want to extend your quirk?” She asked.
“Forget it.” You huffed. “I said, don’t worry about it.”
“Don’t get your knickers in a knot.” She said defensively, “what’s gotten into you?”
You sighed again. “Sorry, I’m just pissed.”
“You got that right!” She said indignantly. “Why are you so pissed?”
“I’m not telling, because you’re gonna either laugh at me or say ‘I told you so.'” You huffed.
“Is this about seeing Shinsou?” She queried.
You hung your head and nodded.
“What if I laughed AND said ‘I told you so.'” She jeered playfully.
You looked at her and gave her the most deadpan stare in the world.
She laughed at the look on your face.
“I’m kidding, yeah?” She said with a soft smile. “What’s happened?” She asked, putting an arm around you.
You told her about how you had been seeing Shinsou for 3 days now in about 5 minute intervals and you just. Craved. More.
“I don’t even want that much longer… like, even just 10 or 15 minutes more would be fine… that’s it!” You said pleadingly, to no one in particular.
“You really like this guy, don’t you?” F/N asked with a sigh. “I can try and find someone that could help?” She thought for a moment. “Maybe I could find someone that has an extension quirk where they could use THEIR quirk to extend yours; but I don’t know how lucky I’ll be to be able to find someone like that.”
“Guess I could do some research too.” You added glumly.
“OR you could just grow a pair of tits and walk up to him and talk to him in human form?” She jeered.
“I couldn’t do that!!” You replied with a mortified look on your face. “He wouldn’t even entertain my presence in human form!”
“Yeah but you don’t know that…”
“I’m not even going to try!” You snorted. “I need to be in cat form.”
“Ok. Well I’ll do my best to help.” Your friend replied with slight resignation, “but I just don’t want you getting in too deep, who knows how far down this rabbit hole you’ll go!”
“I am the dictionary definition of moderation and control.” You said with faux pride. “What are you talking about?”
“Y/N, we both know that you get obsessed easily and you’ll stop at nothing to get your own way.” She replied knowingly. “Don’t even try me I know you too well.”
You coughed and spluttered, trying to sound as offended as possible then resigned.
“Yeah ok, you got me.” You chuckled. “No but I’m not that obsessed with him.”
“Bitch you lie like a cheap rug.” Your friend scoffed giving you the stank eye.
…………………
Over the next few weeks you continued to see Shinsou while you were in cat form, meeting him on his way home daily.
It was obvious that he enjoyed seeing you and you were getting more and more attached to him.
Those 5 minute intervals just seemed to be getting more and more torturous than ever now because you desperately wanted to spend more time with him but you couldn’t, and that annoyed you.
Each night you would search the internet for some way to extend your quirk but nothing seemed to fit what you were after.
You tried ‘rent-a-quirk’ but no one there had an extension quirk, the closest you got was an ‘enhancement’ quirk but that would only turn you into a LARGER cat… and you didn’t want that… for obvious reasons.
Even your friend came up short, unable to find anything suitable.
Then one day at the mall you saw a poster up.
“WANTED” the sign read. “PARTICIPANTS FOR AN EXPERIMENT TO EXTEND QUIRK DURATION!”
Your eyes nearly popped out of your head, this is exactly what you were after!
You whipped your phone out and rang the number on the poster immediately.
“Hi, umm, hello my name is Y/N and I’ve just seen your poster for the experiment?” You said excitedly when a male voice answered the other end of the line.
“Ah yes!” He replied, “thank you for responding to our advertisement, we would love to meet you to go over some of the finer details of this experiment if you are interested.”
“Oh yes! Yes, very interested.” You replied enthusiastically, nodding vigorously.
“Wonderful, may I have your home address so I can mail you some documents and your email address to confirm experiment dates and location.” The male voice said.
“Of course!” You replied, giving him your address and email.
“Wonderful, thank you Y/N, we will be in touch shortly.” He said cheerfully before hanging up.
You squealed happily as you put your phone away. “I can’t believe my luck!!”
That night you got the confirmation email and replied straight away. The experiment date was set for the following week, Wednesday.
You rang F/N.
“HEY! OH MY GOD!” You said when she answered the phone.
“What’s happened??” She replied with apprehensive excitement, upon hearing your enthusiastic greeting.
“Ok, so! You’ll never guess what happened today.” You squealed, launching into the happenings of that day and telling her about how you were now part of this experiment to extend your quirk duration.
“Y/N, babes, I have a concern.” She replied after you had finished telling her everything. “This experiment sounds super sus, it was just on some random poster in the mall, yeah?”
“Well yeah but-.”
“Honey…” she chided. “They’re after your kidneys… this is such a scam! Did the guy even give you his name??? Or anything about the professionality of this experiment?? Don’t go!”
“It’s not a scam!” You retorted. “They sent me an email! From a legitimate email address!”
Your friend cackled down the other end of the phone. “THAT DOESN’T MEAN ANYTHING!” She laughed. “Listen, don’t be stupid about this…”
“I’m NOT being stupid.” You replied angrily. “I just want to extend my quirk, why is this such a hard thing to understand??”
“No but the way you’re going about this is all wrong!” Your friend retorted, exasperated. “You could end up dead, don’t go through with this.”
“I’m NOT going to end up dead, stop being such a mum, you’re supposed to be supporting me.”
“I CARE ABOUT YOU Y/N, AND I’M WORRIED FOR YOUR SAFETY!” She yelled. “STOP BEING SO STUBBORN.”
“You know what, forget it.” You seethed through gritted teeth. “I’m not coming to school next Wednesday, I’m getting this experiment done.”
And with that you hung up, tossing your phone onto the bed.
