“Are you hungry?” Shinsou asked as he flicked the coffee machine on then reached into the cupboard to retrieve the coffee beans and some waffles.
“Well… now that I’ve seen that you have waffles…” You meowed softly, trying not to drool as you watched him move the waffles from cupboard to bench top.
“I need to get cat food.” Shinsou mumbled as he put one lot of waffles in the toaster for himself.
“Hey!” You meowed in protest when you saw he had only put one lot of waffles in the toaster. “What about me?? You can’t just eat waffles in front of me and not give me any!”
You did one little bum wiggle and jumped up at the bench, missing the top and falling back down on the floor.
“C/N?! What are you doing??” Shinsou gasped as he picked you up. “Man you’re super clumsy for a cat! You can’t even land on your feet! Or maybe it’s that you’re still not 100% better, are you still not feeling well??” He asked, stroking you from head to tail as you struggled to get out of his arms and jump to the bench.
Suddenly the waffles popped up and you seized the opportunity, digging your claws into Shinsou’s arm and launching to the kitchen bench.
You grabbed the hot waffle out of the toaster with your teeth and took off, throwing yourself off the other side of the bench with your prize.
“HEY! COME BACK YOU WAFFLE THIEF!” Shinsou shouted, holding his arm where you had scratched him and chasing you as you jumped off the bench and ran to his room to hide under the bed again. “C/N…” Shinsou puffed as he entered his room and dropped down on his knees to look under his bed. “Let’s make a deal, I’ll give you the same food as me if you stop stealing my share!”
You took another bite of the waffle and chewed it down before carrying the rest of the waffle over to Shinsou and dropping the remains in his now outstretched hand to show you were accepting his deal.
“Oh…” he grimaced as the ripped waffle landed in hand. “Uh… thanks, you can have this one but I appreciate that we have come to an agreement.” He said with a chuckle.
He handed the waffle back to you and stood up to head back to the kitchen to continue making his breakfast.
He had just sat down at the table with his coffee and waffles when you came back into the lounge room, satisfied from your meal.
“Need a drink C/N?” He asked as he held up a glass of milk with a straw in it.
“Actually yeah… I’ll take it.” You meowed as you trotted over and jumped up on the chair beside him, placing your front paws up on the table and leaning across to take the straw in your mouth.
Shinsou watched you with amusement as he chewed on his waffles.
“You’re a really funny cat, C/N.” He chuckled, giving you a tickle on your neck. “Oh! I still need to get you a collar though!”
After so-called breakfast – that had been eaten at 12pm – Shinsou left the house to go and get you a collar from the pet store, promising to be back as soon as possible.
You had tried to tell him you weren’t interested in wearing a collar but he couldn’t understand you of course so he left happily, ready to get you the prettiest collar he could find.
He returned shortly with more food for the two of you and a pretty [your most hated colour] collar just for you.
“Here C/N! I got you a collar with your name on it and it’s got my number on there too so people know who to call if you get lost.” He said with a smile, holding the collar out to you as he crouched down. “I don’t want you to get lost again because the other time you disappeared…. I….”
He looked down and cleared his throat, willing himself not to tear up.
“Nevermind.” He said with a sheepish chuckle. “Why am I getting so emotional over a cat?” He whispered to himself.
You cocked your head at him. “Does he really care about me that much?” You thought as your face softened.
He looked back up at you and your eyes met for a few moments before you looked away to hide the emotion on your face.
“Here,” he said, shuffling forwards, “let me put this on.”
“Nooooo way buddy!” You hissed as you backed away from his outstretched hand that was holding the collar.
“You don’t like it?” He asked, the hurt in his voice was almost tangible. “But I thought it would look cute on you?”
“Nah I HATE that colour AND I told you before, I’m NOT wearing a collar, see this neck area?… This is now my no no square, NO don’t touch me there- with that collar- NO this is my no no square.” You meowed constantly as you turned to walk away.
Poor Shinsou was still trying to persuade you to wear the collar, talking constantly over the top of your meowing, the two of you making a lot of noise that wasn’t helping anyone with anything.
“Come on C/N.” He begged as he followed you around the house with his arm outstretched with the collar in his grasps.
15 minutes later and he still hadn’t gotten the collar anywhere near you, all he had succeeded in doing was follow you around the house, in and out of each room, holding the collar out and asking you, politely, to stop, so he could put it on but you weren’t having any of it.
Finally he gave up with a heavy sigh and flopped down onto his bed, opening the top draw of his bedside drawer set and tossing the collar in there.
“There, gone. ok? happy now?” He said in a tired, defeated voice. “No collar.”
You watched from the doorway as he sighed and rolled onto his back, left forearm up on his forehead as he lay staring at the ceiling.
“Now I feel bad…” you thought as you sat down in the doorway. “Actually I did see a ribbon under his bed when I was under there last… if he absolutely HAS to put something on me I’ll wear a ribbon?”
You got up and padded under the bed, searching for the ribbon. You spied it and picked it up in your teeth, dragging it out and jumping up on the bed beside him to show him.
“Put this on me then, if you MUST put something on me.” You meowed, dropping the ribbon on his chest.
He dropped his forearm down to his side and raised his head to see when you had plopped on his chest.
“A ribbon?” He asked. “Where did you get this?”
“Under your bed.” You meowed.
