Boop; I Love You Chapter 12: A Trip To The Vets

It was now dark as you ran along the quiet streets, making your way back to Shinsou’s apartments. 

“I hope he hasn’t missed me too much?” You thought as your paws pounded softly on the pavement.

As you came around the corner to his street you saw someone walking dejectedly alone in the darkness, as the person passed under a street lamp you realized it was Shinsou. 

He had his shoulders slumped and hands in pocket with head down, dragging his feet… he looked so sad it nearly broke your heart. 

“SHINSOU!” you meowed loudly as you ran.

He spun around upon hearing your meow and the most, kid-like, excited look, crossed his face.

“C/N!” He called out as he turned and crouched down with open arms for you to jump into them. “Where did you go?! I’ve been looking all over for you! Are you ok??”

He stroked your head and looked you over in the street light, pausing when he saw your left leg had been shaved slightly (from the QDEE). 

“What’s this?” He mumbled quietly as he ran his thumb over the bare patch. 

You pulled your leg away from him and tucked it up under your body. 

“Ok, I won’t touch it.” He said, smiling with relief that you were at least, alright. “Come on, let’s go home.” He added as he stood up with you in arms and started walking towards the apartment gates.

You snuggled down into his warm embrace  and let out a light, content sigh. 

“Home… I like the sound of that…”

“C/N? Where are you kitty?” Shinsou called as he walked out of the bathroom with a towel wrapped low around his waist. 

You lifted your head and looked over your shoulder from where you had sprawled out on the lounge. 

You blinked quickly a few times and looked away when you saw him standing there in just a towel. You were trying desperately to not to show your emotions. 

When he didn’t speak again you glanced back at him to see what he was doing and your eyes met his just as he lifted one arm up to run his fingers through his messy indigo hair. 

“Arrrgh goddamn it Shinsou you look too damn fine! Please stop it before I get a nosebleed.” You wailed internally. 

“Don’t fall asleep there.” He said with a chuckle and crooked smile, “come and sleep with me.”

Your brain short-circuited and you quickly looked away again to hide the blush on your soft little cheeks, raising a paw up and over your face as you face planted down into the lounge cushion.

“God! Shinsou don’t say it like that!!” You screamed internally. 

“Kitty?” He asked.

You looked back at him again. 

“Come on…” he beckoned with one hand. 

You stayed where you were and turned your head back away again. Laying it down and shutting your eyes.

“Nah dude, I’m not sleeping in the same bed as you, that would just cause me to have heart palpitations all night! I do think you’re cute remember?!” You thought as you ignored his calling you to come.

“Ok.” He sighed with resignation, “have it your way kitten. I’ll see you tomorrow morning, sleep well.” 

You sighed. “I DID want to sleep in the same bed… but…” You yawned and rolled onto your side, “I’m actually feeling super wiped today anyway… feeling a little weird….”

Quickly you slipped unconscious. 

It was close to 4am when Shinsou woke up.

“Why did I wake?” He thought as he lay there listening in the darkness. “Did I hear something?” 

He was just about to roll over and go back to sleep when he heard a strained meow come from the lounge room and he flew out of bed.

“C/N?” He called urgently as he skidded into the hallway, “C/N, what’s wrong?” 

You stumbled down the hall and collapsed at his feet.

“I….I don’t feel well…” You meowed weakly. 

“Kitty! You’re burning up!” He commented as he picked your semi-limp form up off the floor. “What’s happened?” 

You tried to focus on him but your vision had blurred and it was hard to keep your eyes open.

“Shinsou please help me…” You meowed softly. 

“I…it’s ok… it’s ok… phone… where’s my phone?!” Shinsou panicked, running back to the bedroom with you in arms. 

After placing you down on his bed gently he quickly googled a vet that would be open. Luckily there was a 24/7 vet open just around the corner from where he lived and he booked an immediate appointment for you. 

Not having a cat cage or carrier he threw some clothes on before bundling you up in arms and racing out the door.

It was a calm and quiet night outside in the streets as he sprinted down the road to the vet clinic.

You were fading in and out of consciousness as he carried you in his arms, catching glimpses of the street lamps and buildings as he rushed along. 

“Hang in there..” he whispered through ragged breaths, looking down into your dazed, unfocused blue eyes as you looked up at him.

Before long he reached the clinic doors and threw them open, rushing up to the counter. 

“Shinsou Hitoshi with C/N to see the vet please.” He begged through ragged breaths. 

“Of course Mr Shinsou, right this way please.” The receptionist said, standing up and walking over to a nearby door to let him into one of the consult rooms. “The vet will be with you shortly.” 

Shinsou nodded his thanks and walked in to wait for the vet, still cuddling you close to him.

“Mr Shinsou.” The vet said as he entered through a back door to the consult room. “What seems to be the problem with C/N?” 

“Umm, sir, she’s not well…” Shinsou said, placing you gently down on the examination table on your side. “She…called out earlier and…she was stumbling… she’s hot to touch and…”

“Ok, ok…” The vet said soothingly. “Let me look her over.”

You turned your head slowly and looked up at the vet through droopy eyes. “I feel like shit to be quite honest Doc.” You meowed drunkly. 

The vet took your temperature and did some other tests including a blood test as Shinsou watched on anxiously.

“Your C/N here, has a fever.” The vet said finally.

“So…so is she going to be ok?” Shinsou asked worriedly.

“She’ll be fine with a little love and care.” The vet said reassuringly. 

“Oh! I’m good at that…” Shinsou replied proudly. 

“Glad to hear it.” The vet chuckled.

“But uh…how did she get a fever?” Shinsou asked. “Just…so I can make sure it doesn’t happen again.” 

“Well from the blood sample we just took it looks like she’s had something injected into her but we can’t tell what. It’s not a poison or anything so she’ll be fine but that could explain the fever. It’s been in her system for about a day now… did she go anywhere yesterday?”

“Come to think of it…yes… she disappeared for about 4 hours earlier tonight but then came back. She has a shaved patch on her leg too…” Shinsou replied. “Poor thing… what happened to you?” He said as he stroked your head sadly.
