“Missed you too,” Kana signed sloppily, being shy about his reply.
Hiyoko beamed brightly when he saw the reply and his wings vibrated minutely again.
“The day is done and the students will be back soon to get their bags and head home. I’m gonna go home and have a quick shower then I’ll meet you at mum’s, ok?” Hiyoko said, lifting the feather from Kana and walking backwards to the door.
“Ok,” Kana signed, watching Hiyoko go.
The winged hero gave him a dashing smile then turned and left, a little happier now at seeing his friend again.
………………………..
“What an incredible day!” Jinny gushed as she strolled home between her two best friends.
“Condor is an amazing hero,” Soshi said from her left.
“He’s a pelican remember? Got the same wingspan,” Chi teased.
“Stop being mean, Chi, you’ve been in a crap mood all day and I don’t like it,” Jinny scowled, “what’s wrong with you?”
“He’s jealous because you obviously have a crush on Condor and not him,” Soshi exposed his friend/rival.
“Shut up, stupid, what would you know? You don’t even own a brain,” Chi snapped back.
“Listen,” Jinny said, stopping and grabbing both boys by the shirts, “stop it or I’ll glue you both together.”
“He started it,” Chi grumbled.
“I don’t care, I’ll finish it,” she threatened.
Having had enough of their bickering she stormed on ahead then broke into a run to get away.
The sprint home did Jinny good and by the time she reached her front door she was feeling a lot better.
“Mum?” she called out as she entered the house.
“Hi baby,” her mother called, “how was your first day at Condor’s agency?”
“Oh my gosh, Mum! It was so amazing, like, seriously… so much fun!” she squealed as she bounded down the hallway towards her mother’s voice.
“What did you do today?” her mum asked, her voice floating from her bedroom.
“I’m working on a case with him! And he actually asked me to come into the interview room with him,” she gushed, still elated at having the opportunity to work so closely with her hero crush.
“That’s wonderful, sweetheart, were the boys behaved?”
“No.” Jinny deadpanned. “They never are and they’re jealous over everything. I don’t know why I’m friends with them sometimes,” she grumbled.
“I’m home!” The voice of Jinny’s father rung out through the house.
“Dad!” Jinny gasped, turning and fleeing back down the corridor to her father at the front door, “dad! Dad!”
“Hey Jinny!” Red Riot greeted his girl, opening his arms and catching her in them as she hurled herself at him, “how was internship?”
“It was so good!” she squealed, dropping down from his arms, “I got to work with Condor and we interrogated this guy but he’s innocent. I know it. Oh! I’m not supposed to be saying stuff, hey? Sorry dad. Top secret.” She made a zipping motion across her lips then tossed an imaginary key away.
Red riot chuckled.
“You’re gonna be an amazing hero one day,” he said, ruffling her hair.
“NOT the hair, dad,” she grumbled, ducking out of his reach and scowling at him.
“Oops, sorry baby.”
Just then Jinny’s phone rang in her pocket and she pulled it out.
“Oh! It’s Kiki, sorry dad I gotta take this,” she said, quickly answering her phone and walking into the adjacent lounge room.
“Hey!” she greeted Kiru on the other end, flopping down on the lounge there.
“Hey! Can I come over and chill?” Kiru asked, “dad is home and I don’t wanna be here,” she added sadly.
“Awww, Kiki. Yeah, come over and we can chat.”
“OH MY GOD YOUR INTERN DAY!” Kiru suddenlt shouted, “yes! I’m coming over right now, I wanna hear about how hot Condor is, bye!”
The phone beeped to signal the call had finished and Jinny chuckled to herself as she pulled the phone from her ear and put it in her pocket.
“Hey mum! Kiru is coming over. Can she stay for dinner?” Jinny hollered as she pulled herself off the lounge and skipped off down the hallway again.
……………………………………
“Hey dad?” Soshi asked as he entered the study room at the Todoroki household, “can Jinny come over later? We’re working on a case.”
“A case from your internship today?” Shouto asked in his even tone, turning in his chair to look at his son.
“Yeah,” Soshi replied with a head nod.
“You can research by yourself, you don’t need Jinsei here.”
“Yeah… I know… but she’s really smart… and we both think the guy that we interrogated today, is innocent,” Soshi explained.
“Have you contacted her yet?” Shouto asked.
“No, not yet but I wanted to ask you first,” Soshi said with a small smile.
Shouto nodded, “she can come for 1 hour later tonight.”
Soshi’s face fell a little but any time with Jinny was better than no time with Jinny, so he didn’t want to try and argue with his dad just in case he then changed his mind and said no.
“Ok, thanks dad,” he said softly before leaving, “what’s a guy gotta do to spend some time with the girl he likes?” He thought as he headed off down the hallway to his room.
……………………………..
Chi entered his house without saying a word and marched off to his room, still a little pissed over how the day had gone.
“Fuck them all. I’ll show them that I know what I’m talking about, I’ll be the first to find the next place to be targeted. There has to be a pattern…”
“Chisuki Bakugou. Come here, NOW,” Chi’s mum hollered from the kitchen.
He winced when he heard her use his full name.
“Shit. What’s happened now?” He thought as he turned and started walking slowly back towards her, “yeah?” he asked in a small voice as he stepped into the small kitchen.
“If you’re going to make yourself protein shakes with raw eggs in it to try and bulk up to impress the girls, then atleast clean up after yourself!” she said angrily, pointing to the absolute mess on the counter that he had left there that morning.
“Mm,” he grunted, walking over and picking up broken eggshells and dropping them into the bin then wiping up the spilled protein powder, “I’m not doing it to impress the girls, I just want big muscles like dad because he’s one of the top heroes and he’s super strong,” he thought, scowling to himself, “I wonder if Jinny likes big muscles though? I should ask her what her type is… bet she’ll say, fucking, Condor.”
He angrily swiped the protein powder and it flew everywhere, dusting over the clean plates that his mum was just about to pack away.
“CHISUKI!” she snapped.
“Fuck, sorry,” he mumbled.
“LANGUAGE!”
“WHAT FUCKING LANGUAGE?” Chi’s dad asked as he strolled into the kitchen in a tank top.
