“Ahh, the trials of love,” Anthony replied, “honesty is the best policy, Kana, just tell him how you feel. Hiyoko is a very understanding and loving man. I am sure he will respond kindly.”
“I know Hiyoko is kind, that is one of the reasons why I am in love with him. But what do I say to him? Do I just say ‘I love you’?” Kana texted, sending a sad face emoji on the end.
“No, no, you sweet thing. Talk from your heart,” Anthony sent back, “tell him why you love him, tell him how you fell in love with him… give him all the reasons you two should be together.”
“That makes me very afraid,” Kana sent back, “saying all of that is like opening my heart with no… how do you say it…. second plan?… no cover?
“I know it’s scary, but that’s the point,” Anthony replied, “you have one chance. Make it worth it.”
Kana nodded at his phone then replied, “thank you. I will think about what you have said.”
“You’re welcome, Kana, I wish you all the best. Are you coming to dinner tonight?” Anthony asked.
“I didn’t know there was a dinner tonight?” Kana sent back.
“Oh, Mrs Takami was supposed to drop by to invite you both for dinner. It’s the anniversary of Rei and Hiyoko’s grandma’s death. We wanted to celebrate their life that’s was. Bless them may they Rest In Peace,” he replied.
“Mrs Takami did come into the room earlier but I don’t think she had a chance to invite us to dinner as Hiyoko was in the middle of teaching.”
“Oh.” Anthony sent, “well, please accept my text as a formal invite for you and Hiyoko to attend tonight’s dinner. 7:30pm at the Takami residence. Hero Shouto will be there also.”
“Thank you. I look forward to seeing everyone again,” Kana sent.
He closed the messages app and looked out to horizon again, sighing to himself before pushing his hands into his pockets and walking slowly back to the stairs.
…………………………..
“Good afternoon, Condor!” the superintendent greeted as Hiyoko and the three students entered the police station.
“Good afternoon, sir, me and my students are here regarding the jewel theft. I hear the staff member is being held for questioning?” Condor asked professionally.
Jinsei fangirled silently behind him as her hero crush spoke calmly to the police officer.
“Yes. Right this way… are your students interrogating as well?” The officer asked, glancing behind winged hero to the three hopefuls.
“Uh… they can watch from the viewing room,” Condor said to the man then turned to talk to his interns, “I’d like for you to observe how I investigate the suspect and then we can discuss interrogation techniques afterwards,” Condor said with a smile.
“Yes of course. It’ll be my pleasure to watch you. I won’t take my eyes off you for even just one second,” Jinsei blurted out.
Soshi and Chi looked across at her with raised eyebrows and she looked at back at them, “what?” she asked innocently, unaware of how creepy her comment had been.
“Good,” Condor replied, “let’s go.”
The group followed the superintendent down the hall to where the suspect was being held in the investigation room and then all filed into the viewing room next door that had a double glazed window that overlooked the investigation room- one of those windows that would allow you to watch what was happening on the inside of the room but that the people on the inside would just see a mirror in return.
“The first thing to do,” Condor mentioned as everyone looked through the window at the suspect inside- a young male, “is to observe their behaviour when they think they are alone. Do they look uptight? Relaxed? Indifferent… this can all help to determine if they’re innocent or not.”
Soshi observed the male silently, noting that he had a worried look on his face as he stared down at the table.
“He looks… concerned…” he commented.
“He looks guilty to me,” Chi stated with a smirk, “he’s pretending he got brainwashed.”
“But if he was brainwashed he wouldn’t have remembered the events,” Jinsei said to Chi.
“Yeah. That’s why he’s pretending, but we know he’s pretending so therefore he’s GUILTY,” Chi replied knowingly.
“I feel sorry for him,” Jinsei said softly, “I’d hate to be in his position right now…”
Condor glanced at Jinsei, observing her reaction to the detained staff member.
“Jinsei,” Condor said calmly, “come in with me.”
“I-I-In there?!” Jinny gasped, her head whipping towards Condor, “inside? With you??”
“Yes,” Condor said with a smile, “I’d like you to help with the investigation.”
“But I don’t know what to do or say, I—,”
“You’ll be fine,” Condor replied reassuringly, “come, let’s go.”
Jinsei nodded and swallowed thickly, walking after Condor as he left the viewing room and walked to the investigation room next door.
Condor opened the door and entered, watching the young guy in the chair at the table as he walked towards him with Jinsei behind him.
The guy looked up and across as Condor entered and his eyes widened with awe as the well known hero made his way across the room to the opposite side.
Condor made no greeting and Jinsei stayed behind his wings, out of sight, until they had walked to the other side, then she popped out from behind the large winged hero.
The staff member was surprised to see a girl behind the hero and he looked rapidly from Condor to Jinsei to try and work out what was going on.
“So you’re in a bit of trouble?” Condor asked calmly but with an authoritative voice and Jinsei nearly passed out at how hot he sounded.
“Oh my god. Condor, please arrest me. That was so hotttt!”
“Yeah,” the male staff replied with a dejected sigh, “you think I did it purposefully, don’t you?” he said to Condor.
“I don’t think you did,” Jinsei cut in.
The guy looked at her and his facial expression changed to a more hopeful look.
“You don’t?” he asked as he gave her a grateful look.
“But I think you did,” Condor stated and Jinny looked up at him with surprise.
“I got the feeling that Condor thought there was something else going on as well… how come he’s being mean all of a sudden? Oh wait! Is this a good cop, bad cop routine?” she thought as she looked back to the guy.
The staff member’s hopeful look faded and Jinsei felt so bad for him.
“Can you prove that you didn’t want to do it?” Jinsei asked the suspect hopefully, “anything will do.”
“When I was being made to take the jewels I was whispering to myself to stop but I didn’t want to cause a scene… I didn’t know what was going on!” the guy replied sadly.
