Bakugou had begrudgingly left at Kaminari’s suggestion to go to the arcade down the road, and although the spikey blond had hoped he would run into the cute redhead at the gates when he left, he didn’t seem to have that kind of luck.
He was doubly sour for the rest of that day.
Later that night he rang Kaminari.
“Hey.” He said abruptly into the phone when Kami picked up.
“Hey dude, ‘sup?”
“You wanna go to the pool again tomorrow?” He asked with a grunt.
“What? But you didn’t even want to go earlier today and you didn’t even swim!” Kami said, confused.
“I know that!” Bakugou snapped, “but it was nice in the sun there, and it wasn’t crowded. But if you’re gonna be like that then whatever, don’t go.”
“No, no! It was fun!” Kami said quickly, not wanting to miss another opportunity to pick up. “I defs wanna go again dude, what time tomorrow?”
“Same time.” Bakugou said shortly.
“Uh, ok, I’ll meet ya there?”
“Yeah cool, see ya tomorrow, bye.”
“What the heck?” Kami thought as he pulled the phone away from his ear and pressed end call. “What’s going on with him?”
…………………………
The next morning Bakugou caught the bus to the SPP and walked past the entrance, glancing in at the ticket booth. To his delight that same cute redheaded guy was on again!
He mentally cheered and his mood brightened immediately. Content now, he hung back out of sight, waiting for Kaminari to arrive.
“Yo dude!” Kami called out, 5 minutes later, as he jogged up to Bakugou with his bag and towel. “Been waiting long?”
“Nah, just got here.” Bakugou said. “Ok, let’s go.” He added as he turned and walked up to the gates.
“Wait!! Wait, hold up it’s my turn to pay since you paid last time!” Kaminari said as he ran in front of Bakugou and appeared at the window.
“2 concession tickets please.” He said brightly to Kiri.
“Sure thing.” Kiri replied, then his eyes met Bakugou’s, who had just caught up behind Kaminari.
“Oh! H-Hey again… from yesterday.” Kiri stuttered with a blush.
“Oh? You remember us?” Kami asked as he glanced over his shoulder to see where Kiri was staring.
“Yeah.” Kiri said shyly. “It was my first day yesterday. I’m sorry if I wasn’t good at tickets.”
“You were fine.” Bakugou said quickly.
“I-I was?! Oh, thank you!” Kiri replied with a giant sharp toothed smile.
Kami’s jaw was on the floor. “Did Bakugou just compliment this guy?!” He looked back at Bakugou again. Confused.
“Oh! Umm tickets!” Kiri mumbled, turning to the register and punching some things in before taking Kami’s payment and handing the tickets over.
“Thanks.” Bakugou said as his eyes travelled over Kiri’s face.
“Y-You’re welcome.” Kiri stuttered as he felt Bakugou piercing crimson gaze heating him up.
…………..………….
“Dude?!” Kami hissed at Bakugou when they were out of earshot from the ticket booth. “What is up with you today?!”
“What do you mean?” Bakugou scowled.
“You and redhead?!”
“What about him?” Bakugou shot back quickly.
“You like him, don’t you!”
Bakugou blushed and looked away quickly. “No I don’t.”
“Oh come on, you gay bagel, you totally have the hots for him!” Kami leered.
“I do not, you idiot!” Bakugou huffed. “Let’s just enjoy it here, go swim.”
Kaminari left his things next to Bakugou, at Bakugou’s prompting, and went off to try his luck with the ladies while Bakugou lay back on the towel, throwing glances at the ticket gate every so often.
He saw a brunette, another staff member, come up to the ticket booth and talk to the redhead before walking off. Soon after that, the redhead in question left the booth and made his way over to the cafe.
Bakugou watched his every movement.
“Damn that guy is cut! I can tell even with his clothes on.” He thought as he watched the cute guy walk into the cafe and start serving people.
“Best I get a drink.” He got up and grabbed his wallet, ready to walk over to the counter.
“Oi Bakugou! Are you going to the caf??” Kami called from the pool.
“Yeah.” Bakugou grunted, pausing and looking back over his shoulder to his friend in the pool.
“Grab us a coke?” Kami asked.
“Get it yourself!” Bakugou yelled back and walked off, making a beeline for the cafe.
“Hey.” Bakugou said as he walked up to the counter.
Kiri looked up.
“Oh! H-Hi!”
“Can I grab a coke?” Bakugou asked as he leaned his arms down on the counter.
“Oh, s-sure!” Kiri replied, scurrying off to the fridge to grab one. “Here you go, that’s uh, $2.50.”
“Sweet.” Bakugou said, pulling his wallet out and paying for the drink before accepting it from Kiri’s outstretched hand, their fingers touching briefly in the exchange.
“Y-You’re welcome.” Kiri blushed.
Bakugou gave him a slight smirk and walked back to the towel.
“Fuuuck he’s cute! I need to get his name!”
“OI! Kami! Here’s your coke, you idiot, you need to stay hydrated.” He yelled, lobbing the coke can at Kami, still in the pool.
“Aww, thanks dude!’ Kami called back with a smile, catching the can one handed.
“Tch. Now I gotta go get another one!” Bakugou huffed with an eye roll and happily trotted back to the cafe.
“Hey, me again. Sorry. My mate stole my coke, can I get another one?” He said with faux annoyance.
“Sure!” Kiri replied. “Your mate seems like a fun guy to hang with.” He added with a chuckle.
“He’s annoying. But yeah, I guess he’s ok.” Bakugou said, enjoying watching Kiri bend over to get another coke out from the bottom row of the fridge.
“That’s a nice ass!”
“How long you gonna work here?” Bakugou asked as Kiri returned, “you said you stared yesterday.”
“I’m here all summer!” Kiri replied enthusiastically. “9 to 5…that’s me!” He pointed his thumb to his chest with a nervous chuckle.
“Sweet, yeah, ‘cause I come here heaps.” Bakugou lied. “Hadn’t seen you around before.”
“Well you’ll be seeing lots of me then.” Kiri laughed.
“Good.” Bakugou said with a smirk that made Kiri’s heart flutter. “What’s your name?”
“M-My name? OH! My name! It’s Kirishima Eijirou, what’s yours?”
Bakugou, Katsuki Bakugou.” Bakugou replied.
“That’s such a manly name.” Kiri gushed. “Super cool.”
“Yeah? Well I like Kirishima, it suits you.” Bakugou replied.
“Oh but please call me Kiri!” Kiri said, still blushing madly and smiling like an idiot.
“Sure, Kiri.” Bakugou said with a lopsided smile. “See ya round, yeah?”
“Y-Yeah! Ok!” Kiri said as they exchanged payment and drink.
